Mace Windu is getting his own Marvel miniseries in January, just in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The series, written by Marc Bernardin, was announced along with this cover by Mateus Manhanini.

    FINALLY!!! I am EXCITED!

If its celebrating TPM I wonder (and hope) if it may be set closer to that era. We've already got a lot of material about him in TCW, I'd like to see more evolution in his character before the conflict.

Two specific stories I really want:
    1. Mace Discovering/Training Depa Billaba
    2. An expansion of his Tales of the Jedi story, taking up his seat and relationship with Dooku. (I'd particularly hope he further explain how/when Dooku got his seat as shows in Dooku Jedi Lost.)

A young High Council Jedi Master Mace Windu, dealing with a disgrunted Jedi master Dooku. How was their relationship after that,.

Honestly, I think Mace is one of the most under-utilized characters in SW. But that's because he's often misunderstood, and just portrayed as dour and overly-authoritarian. But look at him - he's the only person Yoda seems to consider an equal, he took down Palpatine in a duel, but most importantly he represents the Jedi going wrong, which led to their downfall. I'd really like a series focusing on how Mace became so dogmatic and complacent that he never trusted the Chosen One and never realised the Sith right under his nose.

I wonder if this is before TPM. Lets see young Jedi master Mace Windu.

That is what I was hoping for.

But the alternate cover has some jedi interceptors, so probably it is a clone wars story.

The story says its before Clone Wars. And doubt the jedi fighters didnt exist before.

In Age of Republic even Qui gon has his own Jedi starfighter, virtually identical to how they appear in AOTC. :p

And Yoda had his TCW Eta interceptor in the recent Yoda comic (#5) which takes place possibly a decade before TPM.

Raith Sienar seems to be as prominent a player in canon as he was in Legends, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had some of his best starfighter ideas in his youth that ended up getting produced and implemented shortly thereafter. This is pretty much what his story already was, but I really like the idea of Raith being this lauded protégé designer that an impressed Republic/Jedi Council contract to make new fighters, all while secretly designing for the Sith as well. I think it's an inevitability we get more Raith Sienar in the future—in a possibly big way. The eventual post-Aftermath Unknown Regions remnant story? He'd work well in live-action like Andor. Even his Sienar ancestors could be working for the Sith in The Acolyte. The possibilities are endless.

Anyway yes Mace. Looking forward :)

Ah well, at least it is the older version which could easily exist before the clone wars. Heck, I vaguely recall there being a similar looking older, pre-clone wars model anyway.

....Welp, never mind then. Guess they had both models and just...staggered them out for no reason...oh well.

Yeah, that would be an interesting character to show up some time. Especially since we had a family member show up in Star Wars Squadrons.

For anyone wondering how Mace got into the predicament we see him in in that preview, there's a quick prologue in that recent Revelations issue that sheds a bit of light on what's going on. I hope it gets included in the eventual TPB.

It is. Also according to that listing this series has the subtitle "The Twilight Run".

Ok so this presumably happens while he is a Jedi Knight, which is a period we have basically no information on in Legends or Canon.
It's almost laughable how confusing his (And his apprentice Depa Billaba's!) timeline is because they are both treated as being master's at such an absurdly young age, and even being on the Council in the mid-40's BBY when he'd just barely be under 30 and she'd have to be significantly younger than that! I wonder if we will get concrete dating for any of this?

To be fair this problem mostly persisted in legends because they never bothered to do anything but copy and paste the film Council in any issue that didn't directly introduce a new member. Canon at least has been somewhat better by giving zoomed in shots, so they don't need to make a bunch of new members out of thin air, and using Jocasta Nu and the Poli Dapaton to make c. 40's BBY feel at least a little bit different.
Though Master and Apprentice created a bit of a headache by making Depa have a seat in 40 BBY.

Yes! More about Mace and Depa would be great, as someone who recently read Shatterpoint i am currently in love with their father/daughter dynamic.

I sure hope this series gets better artwork than the last one lol.

Filoni is on record that part of the reason Kanan Jarus is so interested in the Battle of Ryloth in that Rebel's episode where he meets Cham is because Mace Windu was involved, and Mace trained Depa who was Caleb's master. That alone feels ripe for a lot more stories about this lineage of Jedi, particularly because Depa Billaba and Mace Windu are extremely different personality types in canon at least. I want to see how that duo worked as Teacher and Student.

Ideally they should push back the ages for these characters and allow these stories to be set further back. I’m very open to humans in Star Wars, especially Force-wielders (*especially* Monks) living longer lifespans than irl due to medicine and lifestyle changes.

I've said before, Master and Apprentice took two decades off of Qui-gons life it only seems fair to redistribute it to Depa and Mace considering their shaky timeline.

A decent start, Mace acting as tough (killing those guys at the end was not very necessary), but not arrogant noir detective is an interesting approach, can't say I don't like it, especially since here he actively uses tactical skills and mindgames instead of simply fighting.

Interesting premise, surprised we ended back at the Jedi Temple so soon, but it all comes down to hyperspace fuel. A lot one done in issue one, now I wonder where the next few will take us.
