I've noticed that a great amount of the Star Wars Fan Community think little of Boba Fett. I've seen such an influence in most official EU literary works, the idea that Boba Fett is merely a marketing tool, a show not tell character.

Before and after K.W. Jeter's The Bounty Hunter Wars -written in 1998- Boba Fett is seen as this iconic figure who has this provocative outer shell, yet, only a mysterious history to accompany it and a confused scattered about past.

In 2002, Boba Fett is unmasked and the beginning of what I call "The Mandalorian Renaissance" had begun. The Mandalorian Renaissance began for me the moment I saw the Jango Fett Dark Horse poster from Wizard Magazine.

In 2002, George Lucas had breathed life into the stagnant Boba Fett community by unmasking Boba Fett, through his clone father Jango Fett, and by throwing something else in that most of the older Fett fans didnt see coming...Love. Jango Fett dies honorably at the hands of a great Jedi Master and his son, Boba, is on his own. While some may disagree, i believe George Lucas did much for Fett fans and does much for the SW fan community in general. He added two fights between Obi-Wan and Jango: a dog fight and a face to face battle; and, he also unmasked Boba Fett. If this wasnt enough, Lucas also Ok'd Boba Fett's return into the EU, the same EU George Lucas takes no part in.

(That belief can go two ways though)

Slowly, but surely, over the period of time between pre-AOTC release and now, more and more Boba Fett information had been released and we now know more about Boba Fett than we had ever imagined. Who we once thought was nothing but a voiceless character in jaw-dropping fan-boy armor was given a voice, a past, a legacy, and, more importantly, a culture.

As of late, the Mandalorian 101 Star Wars Insider article has been released, and, with the release of information such as the Mandalorians before Fett and the Mandalorians of the future, Boba Fett and the Mandalorians will become a great force within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Most of your video games and books will now be based on Boba Fett and the Mandalorians.

    And now...

    The Psychology of Boba Fett:

    ___________________
    Love and Boba Fett:
    ___________________

As mentioned in my introduction, George Lucas adds one special thing to Boba Fett's past: Love. We now know that Boba Fett did not live so hard a childhood that he would carry no emotion as a man -as previous authors interpret Boba Fett to be.

Fett is, in fact, a person who has been exposed to what love is; and, now that we know he knows what love is from AOTC, he will of course seek it as a man, just not as devoutly as most people do and just not in the way people usually do.

Boba Fett did not live as hard a life as his father, Jango. Jango Fett had been the son of a Concord Dawn farmer who did not treat him with as much love and care as most fathers do their sons. Jango did not learn the concept of love until Jaster Mareel adopted him and became his father.

The same relationship Jango Fett and Jaster Mareel shared, as a father and son bound to love and culture, is the same relationship Jango Fett and Boba Fett have, with a certain twist. Instead of father and son bound to love and culture, it is father and son bound to love and duty.

In Boba Fett: Fight for Survival, we see Jango Fett raising Boba Fett with the Super Commando Codex to be a great bounty hunter. By doing this, he is raising him, to not only be a good bounty hunter, but to be aware of his Mandalorian heritage and to see how duty and their Mandalorian culture coincide with one another. Hence, preparing Boba Fett to be a great bounty hunter also prepares him to be a great Mandalorian Mercenary in the future; this is why Jango claims Boba to be the legacy of Jaster Mareel when talking to Count Dooku.

The above explains just why Boba Fett is the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy, but, not an emotionless machine. Fett often seperates his fe

Boba Fett is the person most likely to never open up to people when he first meets them; this is fact.

    Yet!

    People interest Boba Fett!

He is a person who understands that even the cleanest man in the galaxy has a dark secret or two.

He meets many different people and, as shown in several books, he knows how to get his way with people and how to get into their minds for whatever he wants.

Boba Fett, as he said in KW Jeter's The Bounty Hunter Wars, tells how he has studied the psychology of many sentient beings. So this can USUALLY mean he knows which type of people will or will not betray him.

Im amazed this thread hasn't gotten a reply yet.

Very nice work you are doing.

I have a question though. How do you think that Fett would be when he is the Mandalore?

    <<Im amazed this thread hasn't gotten a reply yet.>>

Im not lol. Not many people like Boba Fett around here.

<<Very nice work you are doing.>> Thanks man :)

<<I have a question though. How do you think that Fett would be when he is the Mandalore?>>

Well, i think he'll be as great a leader as Jango Fett was. Boba Fett is one of the most respected men in the galaxy.

The level of respect Jango had gotten when he took Jaster's place would probably be multiplied ten-fold for Boba Fett.

I imagine Boba being a lot like the Mandalore of KOTOR 2 (not to spoil the real name for any of you who are trying to avoid spoilers).

What we do know of Boba Fett as a Mandalorian leader is that he is a great commander as his Mandalorians swept through the Vong.

Anymore questions you have for me, man?

I'll see what I can do about that, man. TUF is about the extent of what the EU has told about Boba Fett and the Mandalorian's involvement with the Vong BUT when i get back home in a half an hour or so, i'll check through my Mandalorian 101 Article for you, k?

    <<I can't believe how people can't like Fett. He's awsome.>>

Well, i meant around the Fan-Fic forums bro. Not many people seem interested in my Boba fics, and now that i think of it, i think im the only Boba fic writer :p. Thats ok, though.

Edit: OH, you were referrign to me first post?

Quite frankly it is so that while a great portion of the Star Wars Fan Community are Boba Fett fans, many other Star Wars (from my experiences as a Fett fan) look down on Boba Fett as a character.

The question that resurfaces with each passing day for me is "Why do you like Boba Fett so much? Didnt he die?"

The said stigma is the reason why most people dont understand Fett fans (not like they need to anyway). They believe that Boba Fett is a trivial character because of his trivial role in the films.

I personally believe that being a Fett fan is to understand the Star Wars universe. When you look at Boba Fett, a man with an amazing past that isnt shown in the films, you see just a set of cool armor and most people beleive that ANYONE who is a big fan of THAT cant have too much depth, can they? But then if you're a Star Wars fan that pursues knowledge outside of the film and find your way into the EU, you see much much more than armor.

    Just my opinion.

Im sorry Mike, i wish i could provide more info for you.

All it says about Boba and the vong is the following:

"Fett rejoined the Mandalorian Protectors, leading them in the defense of Gyndine, Tholatin, and Mandalore during the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion."

Edit: If you need any help on Boba's leadership traits, you can come to me or check out Jango Fett: Open Seasons, preferrably issues 2 and 3.
