This is for the Tudor Roulette in the Mini Games by @Mira_Jade

It features A/P in my most favorite iteration. [face_dancing]

“As the holly groweth green/ And never changeth hue,/ So I am, ever hath been,/ Unto my lady true.” -- from “Green Groweth the Holly”, a song by Henry VIII, for Catherine of Aragon

It still amazes me when I think about my choices.

I never had a choice when it came to ruling. I was elected in and I felt honored and privileged to guide my people to maintained peace but I felt it a heavy burden at the same time.

When I saw the way the Republic was headed, I felt trapped by my sense of obligation and yet at the same time a sense that making things right was a futile uphill struggle.

Finding love and being able to leave it all behind didn't feel like surrendering to defeat but finally being able to be myself and make a difference on a world that I chose as a home with my family, giving my family the chance for a happy, warm life, where any children we had were the priority.

Any lingering doubts that my lifemate felt the same were allayed when on the occasion of our 3rd anniversary, his gift had the accompanying sweet expression:

"Blossoms that never fade, that's how you'll find my love to be."

"I will never claim my love was not a unapologetically sentimental.]

He also makes a fantastic father to our twins, Leia and Luke, and our newest arrival, Lynnori.

He told me that his courage to make his own path came from the example set by Master Jinn who forged a path with Master Tahl.

Sometimes, you just have to boldly take the road you were meant to travel.

    Wonderful response to the challenge!

My understanding is that Henry VIII was a genuinely great guy... until he wasn't. The quote makes me think of Anakin before he was corrupted.

Although this is AU, it feels to me like it could easily be Padme processing the reality of her pregnancy by reflecting on what her life could be if she would let go of trying to fix the Republic, and what it would take for Anakin to let go of the Jedi Order and embrace a new life with her.

Thanks for the reviews. How very insightful @UltramassiveUbersue ... The feelings you highlight show just how plausible a choice to sever ties with the Jedi and step away from politics could/would have been. @};-

Awww, a happy-end A/P AU! I'm a sucker for these, and this one was short and sweet in typical Ny fashion. I loved how you built it around Padmé's musing about her choices regarding who she wanted to be, where conforming to the path of obligation put her in a position where she couldn't find a point in her work, whereas surrendering her obligations gave her the happiness she craved – and this, undoubtedly, would have impacted Anakin too, in that not needing to constantly hide and lie about his private life prevented him from turning to the dark side. Now I'm curious to know the specifics that led to this particular turn of events!

@Chyntuck -- thanks for the review and highlighting how a pivotal choice by Padme could change so much. :) I think such a decision on her part would be seeing that the Republic is becoming fragmented and full of self-serving factions and that all the voices of reason are being flat out ignored and even though she still has compassion and ideals at the moment it feels too much like an uphill fruitless climb. [face_thinking] I envision that if a solid structure for reforms galaxy wide are set in place she would join whatever local group on Naboo was orchestrating for improvements. @};-

I think you did a magnificent job capturing Padman's voice in this story=D=

This seems like exactly how Padme would reflect on her time serving as Naboo's queen and senator.

And this rings very true to how Padme would have felt during the outbreak of the Clone Wars.

Aww, yes, it is a very sweet sentiment indeed[face_love]

And what a perfectly poignant idea to end on!

Well-done from start to finish with this fic:D

Thanks! I liked juxtaposing Padme's sense of duty but also realization that the Republic was going downhill and fast. I love that she and Anakin felt free to choose family and felt validated in that wonderful choice. :)
