    ONE POST

Title: The The Royal Cutting of a Padawan?s Braid
    Author: anakin_luver
    Timeframe: post-AOTC, pre-ROTS
    Characters: Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda
Notes: These characters and this life is all yours George Lucas!

?It seems like your head would weigh less without the braid, but you?ll soon find out that it won?t.?

?Don?t try to convince me out of it now, Master. I still can?t figure out why you?re protesting so much.?

?Oh it just looked real good on you, my friend. To know you?ll never be called ?young Padawan? again is quite tragic actually. No more of this ?Master? business for me.?

?I?ll try to stop calling you that, but I expect I?ll end up not calling you anything.?

?Well then. You should expect the same.?

Their laughter filled the deserted room in which they were sitting in. It was a small room, with artwork worthy of only polite compliments. What would two noble Jedi Knights be doing in such a room? Only enduring a moment that came once in a lifetime. This moment did not require a luxurious hall, or even guests for that matter. There were three things involved: a hand in which to hold the braid, another hand in which to hold a pair of scissors (note that these scissors did not have to be royal scissors, or new scissors, or even clean scissors) and a braid, which happened to be attached to someone?s head. It was also clear that people receiving a haircut might not trust themselves with a pair of scissors and their own hair. Another person may need to attend. In this case, the essential elements were all present, however, what was meant to happen did not seem to be happening.

?What exactly are you doing holding onto my hair, Master??

?Anakin, you can?t be serious about that question. I think it is a bit obvious what I?m about to do??

?Well, you certainly don?t seem to be doing anything.?

?You know, I?d appreciate it if you would treat me with at least a little respect. I may not be your Master anymore, but I do have control over your hair.?

The reply was a roll of the eyes and a slight smirk. The impatience would be killing anyone, however, the man still holding onto the braid was calm. He seemed quite comfortable, and it would also be understandable if he planned to stand there all day.

?Oh Force, Master! What are you thinking about? One little snip and it?s done. I?m sure your muscles aren?t that tired from yesterday.?

?As a matter of fact, they are.?

It was obvious the topic in concern was trying to be avoided. However, before any outbursts were released, a small figure trotted into the room. A cloak trailed behind the body and two pointy ears stuck out from the head. The sound of wood against tile was quite silent, however, quiet broke out as soon as it was heard.

?Ah, Master Obi-Wan. Cutting the hair of young Padawan you are??

?Yes, Master Yoda. I was just about to do so.?

?See it I will. Many of these I have seen. Tired of them I never get.?

?I?d be glad to have you witness it, Master Yoda, however, it seems as if my former Master has certain reluctance towards cutting it. We?ve been in this very position for more than five minutes now.?

?Ah. Wanting to let go are you not, Obi-Wan? Only hair it is. Grow back it will.? A wink of the eye was followed by the happy statement. The vertically challenged Jedi used the Force in order to reach the seat of the stool placed behind Skywalker?s head.

Still, nothing happened. Silence filled the room as one pair of eyes stared at the braid, one at the mirror, and one at another pair of eyes.

    ?I can?t take this anymore!?

?Do it I will.? The grand Jedi Master held out one of his tiny-clawed hands. Obi-Wan thankfully placed the scissors in the palm. Master Yoda took the braid in one hand and swiftly cut it off with the other. The dark blonde braid fell to the floor in silence. Obi-wan stared at it; mentally going through the memories he had shared with that braid and its owner. The many pestering things Anakin had done, the many risky plans he had undertaken, and of cour

[face_blush] That was beautiful, anakin_luver, it truly was... I always imagined the ceremony of Knighthood with Anakin and Obi-wan... it is a lot different in the Clone Wars DVD, but I like this a lot better... so touching... makes you think of how Obi-wan or Anakin for that matter had no idea what was in store for them...:_|

Loved that, but why do I doubt that Anakin feels that way, I think that he will be (as we sorta knows) kinda relived;)

Great story, I think that it?s the first time someone has done this, I can?t be sure but I?ve read a lot of fanfics.

Anyway, like I said, great story and I loved it, amazingly done anakin_luver as always=D= =D= =D= .

    Thanks for reading AnakinLuver!

makes you think of how Obi-wan or Anakin for that matter had no idea what was in store for them...

I know! I haven't seen AOTC since I watched ROTS, but I know it would just make me think of what happens!

Thank you for reading as well Star_Angel!

but why do I doubt that Anakin feels that way, I think that he will be (as we sorta knows) kinda relived

Yah, he was always eager to become a Jedi Knight!

Oh! OMG luver that was awesome! You got their bnter spot on!

?Do it I will.? The grand Jedi Master held out one of his tiny-clawed hands. Obi-Wan thankfully placed the scissors in the palm.

Aww...Obi-Wan should have been the one to do it.

and of course, the many times he had endangered his own life to protect his Master?s.

Dang right! That's my Ani! lol.

Most of all, Anakin had taught him to love and what it felt like to be loved.

    No words...absolutely perfect!

Loved this Luver you're awesom! [:D]

=D= Great job, anakin_luver! This was definitely how Anakin's knighting ceremony should have been. Very touching :D

I really loved this one Luver. It was so touching.
As Alley said though, obi-Wan should have been the one to do it.
Once Yoda does it.... it's a moment Obi can't get back....
Poor Obi, looks as though he has a little bit of attachment too. So sweet!

The best part though, was our Ani, in typical Ani fashion saying:
    "I hate it!"

    Adorable!!!!!!

This was a great little fic about Anakin and Obi-Wan. I wish there was more about Ani's knighting ceremony. Though, if there is I haven't come across it yet.

I liked the banter between the two. Yoda's comment about never tiring of seeing the braid being removed was a nice touch.

I think Obi-Wan had a lot more attachment than he wanted to believe and knowing with the braid being severed their relationship would change.

    The last paragraph was perfect.

Alley, thanks for reading! I was hoping the banter would turn out right. I know that's one of the key ways they express their love! ;)

EquestrianJedi07, thanks for reading as well! I was hoping it would be a little bittersweet. I'm glad you liked it!

Lover, I debated about that very thing. I thought Obi-Wan should be the one to cut the braid as well, but I wanted to express the fact that Yoda, too, played a big part in Anakin's life. Most people forget that Yoda had trained Luke as well, and had indirectly aided Luke in redeeming Anakin. I just wanted this to be a little moment with the three Jedi because they are the only ones to survive after Order 66.

Daenarrah, thank you! I thought it was just like Yoda to come and randomly see the cutting of a Padawan's braid. I can just imagine it now. Yoda's compassion towards the Order and its beings never ceases to amaze me!

Obi-Wan?s face broke into a smile and he rested his hand on his former Padawan?s shoulder. Hearing Anakin disapprove of his new haircut pleased Obi-Wan, for reasons he was sure only Yoda and himself could know

    (my favorite paragraph )

This little story was so sweet! It was very touching and also made me giggle. [face_love] I wuved it! =D=

Yay! anakin_luver it's good to see you writing more thingies. I love viggies! Especially Ani/Obi ones.

I enjoyed your portrayal of their relationship--the humorous banter and kidding with each other, all the way down to Obi-Wan's struggle of letting go. :D I actually read through the AFAS thread last night after I got home and noticed a discussion that was going on between Ani/Obi v. A/P and which one was more tragic, and I have to say that I agree with you and Alley. ;) Things like this only reinforce it. :D

I loved it, and I really like how you expressed the teasing between the two.

Obi-Wan thought about what kind of person he would be now if it weren?t for the man sitting in front of him. What could he have possibly become? Anakin had taught him that an entire mission was worth risking in order to save even one individual. He had expressed his deepest emotions; something Obi-Wan was certain the Council would never understand. Most of all, Anakin had taught him to love and what it felt like to be loved.

I especially loved that part; it really expresses the relationship between the two, and honestly... Obi-Wan would have been very different without Anakin.

MissPadme, yes...that beautiful head of hair he has later on...=P~

Meredith_Kenobi, I'm glad you "wuved it" :D Thanks for replying!

iLoveAnakin!!, I'm glad I'm writing more thingies too! And you have no idea how glad I am to hear you say you agree with me and Alley! It literally is only us too!

    DarthIshtar, why thank you!

KELIA, really? Everyone else thought Obi-Wan should have cut Anakin's hair! Well I'm glad you liked it either way!

firnuial, I can only imagine Obi-Wan in AOTC as an older version of Obi-Wan in TPM. That would have been the true tragedy of the PT :D

I know a lot of people are asking this...

    Why didn't Obi-Wan cut Anakin's braid?

I'm just going to post the answer I gave Alley, so you guys can understand why I decided Yoda should do it...

I thought Obi-Wan should be the one to cut the braid as well, but I wanted to express the fact that Yoda, too, played a big part in Anakin's life. Most people forget that Yoda had trained Luke as well, and had indirectly aided Luke in redeeming Anakin. The former Padawan examined himself in the mirror, and contorted his face as he swivelled about on his chair, examining every inch of his head. ?I hate it.?

    That's Anakin for you![face_laugh]

Yeah, Obi should have just cut the braid, and be done with it. Imagine, a man who can make you fly twenty feet in the air with just a wave of his hand, can't even cut a braid.:p I bet he just didn't want to give up Anakin. ( he probably liked to brag to the other masters about how Anakin was better than their padawans.:p )

    This was really awesome!

I really liked your fic, luver, but oh, I wish Obi would have cut it. It just seemed Obi's place as his Master, that's all. I get why you had Yoda do it, but it would have been neat to read Obi's feelings as he finally after all those years, "severed" the master/padawan tie.

    Good writing and touching.
