Well, Games doesn't ever go into RTSs too much from what I've seen. However, there are still some good ones out there; Age of Mythology, Galactic Battlegrounds, Empire Earth.

In fact, Homer and I played an awesomely long game of GB last night (went from like 1-4am-didn't finish though..)

Anyhow it was us vs. 3 computers.

I was holding off constant waves of Trade Federation thingys, while Homer held off the Imperial army to his south.

Our strats were pretty diff though.
I had a fortress and towers, and one row of a wall w/ some shields, and this worked until enemy artillery came. Most of my southern defensive was crushed, and it nearly fell. However, a group of pummels destroyed the enemy fortress that was holding off my air support, and once I destroyed it, my air 0wz0r3d them, and I defeated their main base.

Homer had a different stratagy: he kept building walls. He wouldn't stop. His souther wall was like 10 layers thick at one time. Sometimes it would get battered to nothingness, and the enemy would break through, but he just kept building.
"You must lead teh peeps to Homer's Deep"
    Homer's Deep would not fall!
It was awesome. I helped him reinforce it with a fortress and multiple shield generators. Then, while Homer kept building more and more walls, I sent a group of pummels to destroy the enemy fortress, thus clearing the way for my air forces! They cleared out nearly the entire Imperial base, and victory was at hand......

....but then I had to turn off my computer and hide cause my mom came downstairs at 4am, when I should have gone to bed around 11 the previous night. :p

    Anyhow:
BEHOLD TEH POWA OF HOMER'S DEEP, AND THE HELP OF TEH KING OF CONDO!!11!111!1111

    Anyhow, RTS's.....er...discuss.

Anyone wanna set up a JCNGL game of AoM or GB soonish?

Sure, have to eat dinner first.

Just won the first RM game I played in AoM. My final charge was beautiful. Archers raining death, Mintaurs hacking left and right, and finishing off the center of the enemy town with an earthquake.....

edit: might be a little late for the game. Plz wait for me.

There hasn't been too much RTS games set up since the days when we used to play AoEII. Ahh, the memories. Plus it isn't as easy to play a pick up game as it is with FPSs.

I'd be up for a game sometime, time permitting. RTS games I currently have installed are:

    Age of Kings/ AoK:TC
    Age of Mythology
    Warcraft III
    Galactic Battlegrounds/ GBG:CC
    Empire Earth

I also have Starcraft and AoE/RoR

My wall was soo much better than yours, as it was fully upgrades, and was mainly turrets. Also had 4 fortresses behind it.

Good idea for a thread! I'm a pretty big fan of the RTS genre, which is surprising considering how much I suck at them. I guess I could always install GBG again, but I'm trying to get some amount of skill under my belt in AoM. If anybody's up for a game of that, I'm on AIM and/or ICQ, or you can PM me.

Oh yeah, I have Force Commander too.

I've figured out the Greeks in AoM, but neither of the other civs. IM/ICQ/PM me for a game sometime. (Today: Will be gone from about 4pm to fairly late, not sure if I can play when I get back.)

Starcraft is the best RTS. Warcraft III is an RPG.

No, NWN is an RPG. WC3 is more RTS than RPG.

I'm pretty new to RTS, only just getting GB for Mac. I've been playing the demos for that and WC3 for a bit now. I am totally addicted to BG though! I'll probably pick up the Clone Campaign next month(want to get used to the game more first).
My first game I got my butt kicked. I played a standard and got the Empire and I was against the Naboo and Gungans. They just loved invading my poor little base! At one point there were half a dozen Naboo fighters trying to take down turrets right where my ships were made. Everytime a TIE popped out, a fighter would turn and blast it to dust before it got a shot off.
Talk about a bad start at that game...LOL
