With the recent release of the new promotional posters for The Force Awakens, I thought that it may be time to create a thread which gathers all the different promotional posters at the time of the original release of each of the Star Wars movies from the prequels to the sequels (1977, 1980, 1983, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019). This won't include posters for re-releases on other years than the ones I've mentioned above with the exception of the special edition for the OT. I believe that particular poster wasn't exactly authorized by Lucasfilm and certain techies got the boot for it...
If only we got to see all of the other films in 3D, we probably would've got even more better posters! My least favorite out of all the main ones has to be the Special Edition of The Empire Strikes Back. None of the main heroes, nearly dominated by spaceships (yet without the Millennium Falcon), and no locations from the film. I do like the inclusion of The Emperor, that's pretty much it.
Darth_Articulate We are talking about the 6 (or 9 if we include the ST) saga's movies here. Not the Christmas Special! Alexrd We are talking about the posters used for the original releases of the movies, this doesn't include the 3D re-release of TPM.

Ive never seen this poster before. Its beautiful. What language is this? Im gonna guess "un esprit" stand for spirit and "une mission" stands for one mission. Thanks for the wonderful thread idea.

Wasn't aware of that, but it did seem to be more of viral thing, rather than something that cropped up in bus shelters. For what it was, it's still a fun bit of pop history - perhaps even one of the earliest 'memes' to get widespread attention.
