So, my wife and I both remember seeing a sea creature on the background when Rey was walking, at some point. We saw it at the larger Pearland Cinema Grill, which I don't believe was Imax. I thought it was such a great little Star Wars moment, something that just makes the whole planet more interesting (like Naboo sea creatures, the Kamino flying whales or the bog monster on Dagobah). Saw it again the next day with my little boy or a smaller, local theater (Pearland Cinema 6) and didn't see it, so I figured it was when I took him to pee. Now, 10 days off from work and bored as hell, decided to see it again at AMC Gulf Point, which are larger theaters, not sure about the screen size. I was alone and definitely looking for it, but nothing. Is it something that was cut off on smaller screens? I'm hoping that when I buy it on Amazon Video that it will be there, assuming my TV is set to size it.
I figured we'd see it during the cave sequence. Alas....Probably like the KoR and Kylo on Ahch-To sequence, something cut out to save time.
These are little passing bits part of every SW film like the little mynocks and other critters that populate planets. Nice touch.
It appears as Rey is following Luke up the mountain before he goes fishing. It looks like Godzilla’s baby.
That's what I thought... strange. Must have been cut on smaller screens, because I was searching for it this time lol
I’ve seen it three times and I could swear it was not there when I saw it yesterday. But it would be super easy to miss.
Yep. It helps create the feel of the Star Wars. My fave bit of this is the caretakers inspecting Rey’s blaster damage to one of the huts. So quirky. Love all that stuff.
Yes, it was in the sea, and I think it was the giant fish Luke caught with his pole-spear minutes later.
Smaller screens don't cut out parts of the movie (the exception being specific scenes that were shot in IMAX aspect ratio). I saw it on a regular sized screen (not IMAX), and I saw the sea creature.
It comes not long after Luke's 'laser sword' speech, when he's walking away up the hill. We see a shot of Rey following him, and in the background is the sea creature.
