When i watched the scene in the movie and i didn't quite see the maning of it. After watching the DVD commentary, the animators pointed out Yoda's little important acting moment here. So i looked at Yoda's acting features as he talked, begun the cloen war has. And suddendly horror gripped me. I sensesed soemthing in his voice and face told me he knew soemthing that Mace and Obi-Wan were clueless abou, he knew soemthing horrible was about to happen, there is ahint of despair in his voice, soemthing aboslutly chilling about his speech said perhaps "the clone wars" are something that is not new to him, perhaps it is in the prophecy, or perhaps he forsaw the Jedi Purge and the terrible destruction of the clone wars and he knew the battle on Geonosis was his one chance to stop him. And so it was not victory, and "arrmagedom" is at and for them sort of, and he knows of it. I thought he knew of impending doom in his acting scene. He knwos soemthing terrible is going to happen. Maybe it is just in my mind after they told it to me on the commentary. WEll actually, I think i may have just ahd a panic attack.

"I thought he knew of impending doom in his acting scene. He knwos soemthing terrible is going to happen."

It's impossible to say whether or not he can see more to it. I would guess not since, as Mace and Yoda say, the jedi's power is already weakening.

Even if his ability for prediction is lessened, I think Yoda still has that old Star Wars classic - a bad feeling about this.

He knew it was bad, but that was 'bout it...

Why, you might even say that it was difficult to tell--always in motion is the future. ;)

I think people take this line far to literally. They're ability to use the force in general has not diminished at all, because that doesn't make any sense

The dark-side though is growing in power and is clouding their ability to see the future, so when Mace says their ability to use the force has diminished he only means they can't help the republic by seeing the future any more

In the unedited script, when asked by Palpatine if it will really come to war, Yoda said:

Worse than war I fear... Much worse... But of this I am certain. Do their duty, the Jedi will.

Oh yeah. I think he sensed something bad... very bad... was coming.

Yoda probably has some idea of what's coming, but probably doesn't know exactly how bad things will get.

I never really liked this line. I think it's Yoda's best acting and all, it's delivered very well, but do we really need Yoda to tell us that the war has started. I just think a movie is better if you are left to figure things out on your own. I think it would have been better if they kept it, "Begun, this Clone War has." if at all.

The word 'the' does infact sound like he knew it was coming. And I don't think that's right. I think he should have been more shocked and hurt. Afterall, he's the one who brought the clones into the fold.

If they had kept it as "Begun this clone war has", it'd sound like Yoda knew that it was just one of many clone wars that would take place.

I have always liked to think that Yoda knew what was going to happen (Anakin's turning, the fall of the Republic, the Jedi Purge), but understood that it was the will of the Force and that all this was neccecary(sp) in order to bring down Palps and restore the balance of the force.

Well i think that "THIS clone War" line was supposed to indicate that the phrase "clone wars" was first being coined, when they made it 'THE clone wars' it almsot appears that he already knows that phrase, or maybe not...
