I personally love this series, despite the fact that there is a certain drop of quality recently (altought the gay marriage episode...) Anyway, how to forget such killing lines as : (A Star is Burns) BURNS : Listen, Senor Spielbergo, I want you to do to me what Spielberg done to Schlindler ! SPIELBERGO : But Schlinder es bueone. Mister Burns es el diablo... BURNS : Ridiculous ! Schlinder and me are like peas in a pod ! We are both factories owners, we both made shells for the nazis, but mine worked, damnit !
Love it. Its one of my all time favorite TV shows despite the fact that it hasnt been consistently funny in about five years or so.
I love the Simpsons, but I'll probably stop buying the DVD sets after season 9 or 10. I still watch the show, but my expectations have certainly changed. In recent years, I've had to rely on other cartoon comedies to get the laughs that the Simpsons used to dish out like gangbusters.
The Simpsons is one of the best shows ever, but the last few seasons are not indicitive of the show as a whole.
The show stopped being humorous in its original vein around 1997-98. Haven't watched it regularly since then. Its last truly great year was the 1994-95 season. Different writers, different sensibilities, and different priorities than the old show used to explore. Not saying it's necessarily a detriment, but it simply doesn't do it for me any more.
season 1-9: Most beloved show of all time. seasons 10+: Show broke my heart. It just wasn't The Simpsons any more.
I do not like them. Now, a few years ago it looked like a really funny show. Now, it looks like a stupid show. Especially with that gay-marrige episode preveiw I saw.
gay-marrige episode preveiw This is what I hate people are so shallow they judge something from the trailer, and don`t actually watch the movie
My favorite characters are Hans "I was saying boo-erns" Moleman, Mr."non-profit organization with oil" Burns, Ralph "I bent my Wookie" Wiggum, and, of course, Homer "Mmmm, fattening..." Simpson!!
Hate them. It was good. Anymore I just can't watch it though. Its such a parody of its former glory. Every joke just lasts to long now. They don't have episdoes anymore, they have events and try and form episodes around that. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't.
Agreed. Used to love them. But then after season 9... I also just stopped caring. It went from a deliciously devilish satire to silly, weird sight gag heavy romps... something Futurama does much better. So I just stopped watching. That said, even within seasons 10+, a nugget of an epiosode pops up.
I love all the 90s-era episodes of The Simpsons, but I cannot stand it much anymore. Now I consider it filler in the Fox Sunday line-up.
Love it. The older episodes, that is. I'm currently watching the Complete Sixth Season and havin' a ball laughin' my ass off at the episodes. Man, this show used to be something special. *sighs lovingly* EDIT: Definitely. Very well said. I would also like to add that I think the quality of the show took a serious dip when Phil Hartman was murdered. He was the heart and soul of the show, IMO. This is true. The newer seasons have a good episode here and there. They aren't all stinkers, as some would like to imply. However, they aren't all instant classics, like the older episodes. "The Simpsons" remind me very much of a band I used to love--Metallica. A show that had its hay-day in its early days, but held on too long and became stale...much like that band. It's heartbreaking to see, I must admit. Sometimes you just need to know when to let go.
