Anyone else realize after Anakin storms into her room, jumps on her bed,and swings a lightsaber infront of her cutting big slugs off her body, her waking up was just a little late?

It took a good 30 seconds or so. One of the things that make me laugh *at* The PT is that scene.

    Hopefully george will fix it.

I haven't seen Attack of the Clones in months, but I don't remember that scene taking too long. And no, it's extremely unlikely Lucas will fix it.

It doesn't need fixing. Yes, it is awkward. Hahahah, it is funny. It's like *slice* *slice*. HUH? What was that?

    Hahahahaha

the part i actually LIKE about that scene ( besides that the slugs look totally freakishly real and it took me a while to figure out they were fake! im slow...) was that after he slices up real nice and she wakes up, he just stands there on her bed staring down at her like 'whoa...she's in her nightgown...'...totally funny

Strange, I never thought of it as awkward. I just assumed Padme was in a very deep sleep, and like anyone suddenly pulled out of it, it took a moment for full consciousness to abruptly hit her.

I hate to pull out the "its a movie" card, but I have to.

In order to get a good reaction shot from Padme, a close-up shot needed to be taken. There also needed to be a shot of the action that she is reacting to, aka Anakin slicing and dicing. Unless you would have rather seen something dopey being done with a split-screen, you have to decide to show one shot and then the other. Showing Padme jump up in bed before Anakin turned on his saber would have been stupid, so the shot of Anakin taking care of his Jedi business was place first in the reel, with the shot of Pamde waking up second.

    Mace Windy,
    too windy for spoilers!

She was probably just lying there till Ani turned off his lightsaber. If she had gotten up as soon as she woke up he would've sizzled her

perhaps she was waiting for him to come down and got up in frustration when he left. ;)

She was in a deep sleep - Why would you expect her to wake up the moment he ignites the lightsaber?
It's very realistic and I don't see anything funny about it.

EDIT: Sorry, Chaotic, for echoing your post :)

What gets me about that whole scene is that they've just spent 10 minutes establishing that she's in great danger from assassins , there's security everywhere etc. and then these things just come in thru the window ??
    Some security !

How does the droid carrying the slugs know which room is Padme's?? Padme has decoys, how did they happen to find Padme's room and not Dorme's for example?

    ^^^^haha true true

and it wasnt the igniting of his saber that woulda woke her up, its his pouncing on the bed and on top of her that woulda woke her up!

psh if it was me, i woulda sat straight up and probably been decapitated. so Padme is much smarter than I am

Actually, those creatures were nothing like slugs.
Slugs belong to phylum Annelida, while these creatures are more like arthropods because of their hard hitin shell and articled legs. They would most probably be put in class Myriapoda.
EU tells us that the creatures are called kohuns and they extract deadly poison.

For late waking; Anakin's role in this story is 'Prince Charming' and when he jumped on her bed, Padme probably expected a kiss or something...

Well you just answered your own question.

They were expecting assassins, not 2...whatever those little things were.

Didn't obi inquire about whether Anakin was using Padme as bate?

If so then there you go... :/

Weyseed's got it - Padme asked Anakin to use her as bait in order to lure the assassins out of hiding. Unfortunately, poor Obi Wan wasn't aware of this until *after* things were set up. It didn't help that Padme shut off her cameras because she didn't want to undress in front of a 19 year old kid. :p

How does the droid carrying the slugs know which room is Padme's?? Padme has decoys, how did they happen to find Padme's room and not Dorme's for example?

In a world where they can coordinate trips through hyperspace, I doubt ordering a droid to go to a certain address isn't a big deal - especially since it was obviously a droid programmed for assassination operations. From there, it was merely a matter of letting the creatures go and attack the first warm thing they found - Padme. Echoing the above, the decoys also wouldn't have been a problem since Padme was purposefully putting herself in harm's way to reveal her attackers.

My point was about the window - all this security and there's no alarm on the window ?

Other than the option of Padme using herself as bait, it's very posible the droid was programmed to send out a charge to knock out warning systems given that it's used by a bounty hunter. It's possible they may not even have one - it's her apartment on Coruscant, it's high up, and up until this point, nobody's attempted to kill her as Senator.

I never undesrstood that line, I mean she's the target anyway, how is she using herself as bait ? unless she's giving some signal that she's unprotected, but how would that work ?

It's possible they may not even have one - it's her apartment on Coruscant, it's high up, and up until this point, nobody's attempted to kill her as Senator.

er... except when they blew up her starship at the beginning of the film.

I would agree with this if it wasn't for the fact that Obi Wan and Anakin are Jedi. They are actively discussing using their Jedi powers to sense whether or not Padme's in danger. Obi Wan thinks Anakin isn't 'sensetive' enough. Anakin is cocky, as usual. They sense her danger in time, and it leads them to Zam.

I always thought that blue-green box the droid made on the window blocked any security measures on it.

so what are you saying -- that they know the window's security has been deactivated or what ?
