The Sword Of Truth book series going to be a tv series?

I just finished Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, 11 or so books long which are really awesome, and just did a search for Terry Goodkind and found his website terrygoodkind.com and wanted to see what was next for him now that he finished that huge series. This says that his first book, which imo was his best, is going to be made into a tv series made by Sam Raimi? Anyone have any more info on this, or are familiar with this author and his works?

From my understanding, there is going to be a mini-series based on each book. While I loved reading the series, I have doubts about the TV series due to the stupid FCC. They will have to cut out nearly 1/3 of each book which will, I fear, make the series suck as bad as the movie Battlefield Earth did which was also based on a great book IMO. The sexual parts of the book along with the extreme violence will never make it past the FCC so it will probably be a total bastardization of the Sword of Truth.

 

maybe it will be shown on showtime or some other pay channel. But i, too, have the same doubts. The books are so awesome and i just dont think they will be able to portray what made the books as good as they are. But who knows, tv lately has seen some awesome awesome shows that they might be able to pull it off. Is there any word on the actors being used yet, or a projected date for it to air?

 

well according to imdb its coming out november... and its called "Legend of the Seeker" www.legendoftheseeker.com has a trailer supposedly of it, but everything but the background image is blocked for me at work so i cant see it. Although one thing that really scares me is a little blurb that wasnt blocked for me saying "From the makers of Hercules and Xena!"

Only thing that went through my head is "crap"

 

HBO apparently has acquired George RR Martin's 'Fire and Ice'.
I've never been disappointed with anything HBO has done.
ABC will give Terry Goodkind a mussy Narnia feel, I'll bet.

 

I like the series, but making it into a TV show worries me.

Not sure if I'll try to see it or not, assuming it does indeed come out.

 

If Ice and Fire happens I am going to be thrilled. If anyone could pull that off, it's HBO. The content of Ice and Fire obviously requires HBO as well, although I suppose Showtime could handle it too. Every novel is supposedly going to be one season. I am glad people realized that a movie adaptation wasn't the way to go with this. The length, complexities and number of plots, number of characters and their arcs, absolutely require the format of a television series to do right. I really hope it happens.
