The problem with that is that 1942 takes place all the way up to the Battle of Berlin and Iwo Jima. You can certainly say it is before 1943 since it started in 1942 (I think, I don't remember the earliest battle in that game (Tobruk?) since I haven't played in years), but it doesn't mean it ends earlier. Probably better to say: 1942/1943 (and expansions) Vietnam Battlefield 2 (maybe) Bad Company 1/2 BF 3 BF 4 2142 Though granted, I could easily be wrong on that.
Also remember there is Battlefield 2: Modern Combat which is set around 2004/2005, roughly the time of the game's release - hence Modern Combat.
Okay, over the last week I have been working on the timeline and I am proud to say I am though the WWII era and I am now working on Vietnam.
Actually no. Both 1942 and 1943 take place over the course of the war (trust me if it was that easy I would already be in modern times ). The games mostly take place in 1944.
They certainly do cover a large part of the war, from Wake Island in 1941, Midway in 1942, the Guadalcanal campaign that stretched from '42-'43, the invasion of the Philippines that covered from '41 to '42, the Battle of Britain in 1940, the various aspects of the Normandy invasion in 1944...the city of Kharkov had around four different battles over the span of three years that weren't 1944, and the majority of the North African theatre is pre-1942. So yes, you're right, they take place over the course of the war, but most certainly not predominantly in 1944.
I have done my research. A good 40% of the battles take place in 1944.
