im not sure whether this should be here, but

Is there something in lit, books or comics, or whatever... about the true sith race during this time?

The Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith and Fall of the Sith Empire mini-series. Both contain substantial amounts of information upon the ancient Sith, expanded upon since their original release.

The Sith were a pink-skinned, insectile race native to Korriban. When the Dark Jedi landed on the planet, the Sith revered the Dark Jedi as gods. Over about two millenia, interbreeding caused the two groups to become one, and the true Sith species became extinct.

25,000yrs ago the Jedi fought amongst themselves. After a hundred years a group of rogue Jedi were exiled. They fled to the edge of the galaxy, encountered the Sith race, and conquered them. Leaders were known as Dark Lords of the Sith.

The Sith themselves had some talent with the Force, and seemed to be . . . compatible . . . with human connection. The outcast dark Jedi's internet speed were sound; they interbred fine. That's why Sith Lords Sadow and Kressh looked half human, half Massassi, their created slaves.

And Jedi and Sith were cut off for 20,000yrs or so. The Sith grew into a empire with bizarre technology, yet Sadow didn't know what a blaster was.

What I'd like to know is, how did the Jedi know about the Sith if they were supposed to be cut off for twenty centuries? And it wasn't because Ordan-Urr "suddenly" had Sith invasion visions.

I touched on this in the Ancient Sith thread, but might as well throw it out here.

THe Sith that are shown in KOTOR1. These really did not have any real connection between the ancient sith.

I think that as Revan and Malak discovered the StarForge and realized that Mastery of the Galaxy was in their graps, that they realized they needed a "banner" to rally their forces behind. As they started to corrupt the thousands of Jedi (and I imagine, hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions) of Republic troops they needed, they probably went with the "Sith" name, more because it had such an evil reputation and perhaps to throw off anyone trying to uncover their origons. This was effective, because if you remember when you are talking with Master Vrook on Dantoonine, they are no where near the ball park on what Malak is really up to.

It is possible, that after the fall of the Sith Empire, that there were Sith Masters in hiding, plotting their revenge and such. Darth Nihillius, Darth Traya, and Darty Sion may have been amongst them, and were probably as surprised as anyone else when they saw this new "Sith Armada" be unleashed upon the Republic. They probably did try to make some contact with Revan and Malak, perhaps even granted them the Titles of "Darth" to their names and asked for more official authority within their new orders.

When one considers the effort that Revan and Malak unleashed on Korriban, where they wanted these ancient secrets of the Sith recovered and removed from the planet, that they wanted this done so they could start taking those steps towards truely mastering the Dark Side of the Force, at least on the level the others have.

Obviously, there was no connection then between Exar Kun/Ulic Qel Drohma either with Revan and Malak. Revan and Malak probably remembered what Exar Kun did and took essentially their name to their conquests.

Revan and Malak were indeed true "Sith," in the fullest sense of the term -- they were privy to the darkest nadir of the order's teachings after their experiences on Korriban and Malachor V, and were directly legitimized at the centers of the ancient Sith empire in their subjects' eyes, per the original Knights of the Old Republic. There's *far* more to what actually went down there in the sequel, but it goes well afield beyond them simply co-opting the Qel-Droma/Kun legacy...after all, Exar only had to get his legs crushed in a wee rockslide before he gained the mantle of Dark Lord.

TripleB: No, we know that Nihilus and Sion learned their craft at Revan's Academy on Korriban. They served under Darth Revan and Malak in the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War.

Uhm, I don't want to spoil anything for people who are still playing KOTOR 2, but . . .

    KOTOR2 SPOILER WARNING

We were led to believe by earlier materials that after the Great Hyperspace War in TOTJ:TFOTSE the Sith Empire, the one that had the Sith species and the Dark Jedi that ruled them that were called Dark Lords of the Sith, eventually fell apart and faded away, leaving the species to become extinct. However, we learn near the end of KOTOR2 that Revan believed that the Mandalorian Wars were manipulated into happening by an ancient, hidden power, which he believed to be the remnants of the Sith Empire, located somewhere in the Unknown Regions. One year after KOTOR1, Revan left to seek out the source of that manipulation. It seems strongly hinted that KOTOR3 will feature the Exile and Revan dealing with the threat of the Sith Empire, which just might also be the threat hinted at in Vision of the Future.

    END SPOILERS

    Helpful? Eh, maybe.

Whoa... that would be fascinating. That's a rather eerie connection and an interesting way to explain Revan's departure.

And if KOTORIII does end up being as you suggested, then it'll be one heck of an interesting game.

Wouldn't it? After having just finished KOTOR2, I'm really anxious for KOTOR3.

But, hey, for now, I'm content with the RC demo on the KOTOR2 disc. Heh.

I'm frightened. KOTOR-era EU has just risen to become as much or more interesting than Classic-era EU, just because there's more going on. 0_o

If KOTORIII does feature Revan and the exile, it'd be absolutely fascinating. And since they managed to gloss over Revan's DS/LS choices in KOTORII and make the choices have a similar conclusion, then the process should be nice and smooth in KOTORIII.

Heh. This is rather amusing. If the VotF threat is also the Sith, then it'd mean that two military genii (Revan and Thrawn) attacked the GFFA in order to prepare it from the same unseen threat.

If this is what post NJO EU is about, I think it'll be far more interesting than the Yuuzhan Vong ever were.

whoa, wait a minute... wasnt there just a recent war between the dark lords of the sith and the republic before mandalorian wars and KOTOR 1?... so the remnant sith revan is looking for was part of marka ragnos's empire?

Oh, I have long maintained that the people whom developed KOTOR1 at BioWare have a greater passion for the true STar War's Saga then the retards at LucasFilm nowadays. It is a true disgrace that Video Game Makers could outdo filmmakers in creating a true vision of the SW saga that most of us had always envisioned for the Pre-Classic trilogy era.

But...be that as it may, this is how I would have do a Star wars: KOTOR Movie Trilogy.

Movie 1- Cover's the events of Ender Spire, Taris, and Dantoonine. Movie ends with both the departure of You, Bastila, Carth and the others on the Ebon Hawk, as well as Admiral Karath and Calo Nord informing Darth Malak of their discover.

Movie #2- Covers the Search of the Star Map's, perhaps 2 or 3 worlds, as well as the events on the Leviathan and the revelation of Revan

Movie #3- The final Star Map, the Unknown World, and the final battle. And on the Special Edition DVD, they also include the Dark Side ending.

    Well, here's the difference.

Bioware and Obsidian were interested in connecting with EU on all levels--there's even an NJO reference in KOTOR--and making the ultimate enmeshing experience.

Lucas, on the other hand, is interested in showing something new and different.

Yes he is, something new, different, and pure crap is all that he has shown us, and I feel worse about Episode 3 then I did about Episode 2.

I don't really mind the movies as long as they don't make a big splash.

Thankfully, post-NJO EU and KOTOR-era EU will be entirely unaffected by EIII.

Whereas *I* would be dissapointed if ROTS *didn't* make a big splash. As someone who kind of "grew up" with the prequel trilogy, it's really something to look forward to.

I meant a big splash as in... it rewrote EU and forced it to change much of the continuity. :p

just beat KOTOR2 and if KOTOR3 is going to be about what i think its going to be about its going to rock my socks.

Now here is a crazy thought. Maybe this Sith Empire is a race of aliens who live just on the edge of the galaxy, now these aliens could use there powerful connection with the force to bio-technology and are amassing an army to sweep through the galaxy. That?s right, what if the Vong where originally from the GFFA and this crusade that Revan and The Exile lead against them causes such a wound in the force that it is stripped from them, forcing them to leave the galaxy traveling around the void for thousands of years before finally coming back to the forbidden Galaxy.

INteresting take, Gante Glass (sp?). In KOTOR1, Canderous tells that one story about what appeared to be a Yuzhan Vong ship they found in a asteroid cluster. Interesting, to say the least.

interesting if the exile and revan join to fight the true sith, but the light side ending has to be infinities if they are the threat visions of the future predicted and the up and coming baddies in the Post NJO.

Why doesthe light side have to be infinities?

Besides both Light and Dark state that Revan went back to the UR for unknown reasons.

Nate Butler, I take it you faced glitches while playing the game, just as some of the others on the threads here. Considering this and your speculation about a possible KOTORIII, I take the following be true for you:

When it comes out in Feb, you're going to play the PC version to note any differences, and if for nothing else, to have the opportunity to play the game without facing so many damn glitches.

If the powers that be decide to do KOTORIII, then you're hoping they keep in mind the complaints they're no doubt receiving from the players about the glitches and aim at creating a game that's glitch-free, runs smoothly, and has a story that's as captivating as its predecessors, but runs more smoothly than this one does.

i think this thread got lost amoung all the other KOTOR 2 theards but it was the one that disscussed the most signifigant EU event in the game, this so called threat in the Unknown Reigon is a big deal to the SW EU, maybe its the Sith, maybe its the Vong maybe its Waru! the possiblitys are endless!
