The Official Sara Douglass website is here, though stuff more pertinent to TWR is here.

The Wayfarer Redemption series by Sara Douglass
    Book One: The Wayfarer Redemption
    Book Two: Enchanter
    Book Three: Starman

Three wonderful books. The characters are amazing, the romance breathtaking, the descriptions lovely, and the plot is forever taking new dips and turns. These are the best books I have ever read. Why then, does no one seem to have heard of them?

I tried the first one when it came out in the states. I was bored out of my skull two-hundred pages in. It was one of the approximately five books I read a year (out of several hundred) that I didn't finish.

I tried to read the first one and like everyone else, got bored and gave up. Then unknowingly I read the third one and fell in love with the series. That made me take my time and go back to the first two. I would have to say it's one of my fave series now, it just took me a while to get into it.

 Someone's read it! Glory be!

I have no idea how peeps can be bored of TWR, since it was IMHO, the BEST out of the series. Everyone was so innocent...and *sobs* Faraday was with Axis!!

    Jaina_Solo_15, may I hug you?

    *hugs*

Teehee, sorry...it's just that I absolutely love these books and no one I know has read 'em.

What did you think of the love triangle with Faraday, Azhure, and Axis? I would think your view on it would be different because you read the last one first. I was so heartbroken and angry when Axis slept with Azhure. If Azhure hadn't been so awesome I would have killed her.

Faraday's character was so tragic. She was pushed around by her father, her mother, the Seneschal, the Sentinenls...everyone. And then Axis had to go and betray her! And still she did her duty for Axis and planted Minstrelsea and even gave her child to Axis...that last chapter in Starman was so sad...

I just finished Enchanter for the 2nd time. I cried so hard I couldn't read the pages.

    Hee, sorry...I just chattered on...

When I first read TWR I was so absorbed in it. It was almost insane.

Well, I have to admit when I read Starman I was a little confused with all of the relaitionships, but when I went back and read Enchanter it explained a lot of stuff.

Like you said, if Azhure hadn't been such an amazing and three dimensional character in her own right she would have been very easy to hate. In one respect, I didn't like how he sort of led Faraday on. But i was very happy with the way that she convicingly made Faraday and Azhure friends, despite the guy that they both loved. Really it's just an awesome story.

It is. There's actually a vignette about Faraday that I've run across. It can be found here. I'm not sure where the link will lead you, but if you can't find it, ask me and I'll show you.

I didn't like how Axis led Faraday on either. It made the betrayal all the more worse, IMO. I can't believe he expected both women to just "share" him.

I also found Azhure's twins' darkness so tragic. If Axis hadn't had done what he had done, they would have turned out so different. I also loved it when Azhure told StarDrifter to just hold her and tell her that he loved her...that was so sweet.

The vignette was amazing and I liked how everything was woven together. All three books had so much going on in them. People maturing into themselves and new powers, betrayal, love and friendship.

Oh yeah a question: I read somewhere, I can't remember where now that there were more books in the Wayfarer Redemption series. Do you know if that's true or if it's just my wishful thinking?

I loved the vignette too, Jaina.

Actually, there are more books in the series. I just don't know if they're released in the US yet.

Do you happen to know what the titles are or maybe a website where I could find that information i tried major bookselling sites, but I didn't find anything. To be honest I really don't know that much about the series.

I saw another book by sara Douglas in the library the other day and i jumped at it only to be disapointed when i found out that it was totally unrelated. I was so upset! :_|

Don't care much about the series? Then why are you asking about it?

Yeah, Hades Daughter and all that? I jumped at 'em too, and experienced the same disappointment.

I think the last book is called Crusader, but that's about it. Sorry. :(

I love the series, i just don't know much about it! My list of obssesions is quite long and I have to find time to fit reading into the rest of RL. It's so horrible, for the first time in my life, I'm finding myself running out of time to read.

Anyway, thanks for the title, maybe I'll try a google search or something.

Ahh. I'm re-reading StarMan and I'm barely on page 230. School eats up so much time.

Wow. Old thread, and I think it deserves an upping. I was walking around a bookstore last week. It was closing, so everything was discounted. I've been trying to find some good fantasy reading, and the name Sara Douglass jumped out at me. It sounded fmailiar, so I looked at her books. I walked away with the three books of this trilogy. The first book pulled me in from the beginning. I took the books with me everywhere. I stayed up till 4 AM reading them, trying to finish just one more chapter. I read them at work. Last night, at around 4:30, I finished the last of them. And cried.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I shed a tear or two. The ending was just so bittersweet. Faraday is a character that I think anyone would love by the end of the trilogy. She is betrayed left and right, manipulated by almost everyone around her, hated by quite a few people (and even a god!), and yet she does what she must, even when it means she must die. Moreover, she doesn't blame Axis for his betrayal. She blames, and rightfully so, the Prophecy of the Destroyer. At least she still lives, free of her cares. Axis' torment, knowing she is alive, being so close to her, and yet being unable to even touch her, is no less than he deserves.

Azhure is the type of character I like most. Introduced as a relatively minor character hiding a major secret. And yet she turns out to be one of the most important characters in the series. And one of the most powerful. At times, I thought her power was a bit overdone, but it was still huge fun to see her take Artor down.

Axis is probably my least-liked character. He was at his best in TWR, when he was just starting to realize who and what he really was. I will say no more about him.

Overall, this was a highly enjoyable read, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I looked Douglass up online, and found out that in Australia, where the books were published originally, the books are collectively known as the Axis Trilogy, and the first book was called BattleAxe. Makes moe sense, because then the titles reflect Axis' progression from BattleAxe of the Seneschal to Icarii Enchanter to the StarMan. There is another trilogy of books set after this one. This later trilogy is called The Wayfarer Redsmption. I don't know why they changed names for US publication. But anyway. The names of the individual books are Sinner, [/u]Pilgrim[/u], and Crusader. Unfortunately, they haven't been published in the US yet. I did read the summaries on Sara's site ( www.saradouglass.com ). Faraday lives! :D
