As many of you know, WEG published some revised versions of their books and adventures. But those did not just adjust rules and stats or correct errors but have some significant story and lore changes as well as recently stumbled upon in my other topic ( https://boards.theforce.net/threads...technology-in-a-galaxy-far-far-away.50054833/ ).

Therefore it is quite relevant if you as a completist own both versions or not, or which you own! Sometimes the difference is minor, sometimes quite a lot got edited and entire paragraphs cut down to a mere sentence. Hence lets catalogue these differences and see what we can uncover and how this may help many fans with their collection choices! Given the amount of WEG material and rarity of some items I hope many fans help with this.

For Example in the Adventure Graveyard of Alderaan, the heroes travel from the asteroids containing the remnant of the royal Palace to the hidden Warfrigate Last Chance via a hypergate or by more mundane means via a secret tunnel to a hidden royal escape ship that survived the Death Star blast like the asteroids palace segments.
Sidenote unrelated to this discussion: Makes one wonder why Bail and Breha did not escape the Death Star via it then or survive inside the Palace Fragment somehow. But this opens interesting possibilities indeed. Yet I prefer the hypergate still!

With thx to @The Positive Fan :

In this case the second edition revised and reduced the wondrous technology to more classic travel methods giving SW different feel. Early WEG and Marvel was full of such wondertech that later technologically equalized SW media removed in favor of classical scifi tech and travel.

Another quote about the Graveyard of Alderaan bits thx to @Senpezeco

Other revisions include removal of sexual subtext and hints:

    Or other reasons for revision:

Digging deep into WEG; what other revisions do you know of? What more can we find? Please post any you come across or remember! That also goes for Art, for the beautiful WEG art also is subject to removal and revisions between editions as I noticed!

    Oya!

Another reason the hypergate might have been removed was that from a story standpoint, the hypergate was a bit of a Deus ex Machina. "Oh, you need to get out of the Royal Palace? Well, it just so happens..." Obviously the palace having a secret second hangar bay is no less so, but perhaps that felt to the writers like a less obvious plot device (and one that begged fewer questions).
It is interesting to note that the retcon that made Project Shantipole into the B-Wing Project, as opposed to the "Two-Man Variant B-Wing Project" as in the original module, was actually established by 1990's Rebel Alliance Sourcebook and not the second edition version of the module. The revised module is just lining up with the Sourcebook's updated version of the story.

    Nice thread!

I've heard about the Graveyard of Alderaan hypergate before, but seeing this reminds me once again of just how deeply silly it was. Exotic supertech has its place in Star Wars, but being right there in the basement of Leia's family is not that place - especially since it's just such a minor plot contrivance. (And one that, IMO, actively undercuts the adventure, since it sounds like a much bigger deal than one capital ship.)

Looking at the different editions shows the evolution of the EU. For example, the first edition of Galaxy Guide: Yavin and Bespin talks about what was known about Yavin before the Jedi Academy Trilogy and Tales of the Jedi.

The "Armchair Historian" template changed between its appearance in Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (First Edition) and Star Wars Gamemaster Screen, Revised, going from:

"If Kreuge had only swept farther with the right wing at Salvara instead of turning when he did, the whole history of the Clone Wars would be different!"

    to
"If Kreuge had only swept farther with the right wing at Salvara instead of turning when he did, the whole history of the Tenuutta Skirmishes would be different!"

It looks like they decided to shy away from any Clone Wars reference in the second edition, in the days when it was still mostly off limits. Fortunately, years later when the Clone Wars became an active era of storytelling, Jason Fry was able to bring Kreuge and Salvara back into the Clone Wars in Star Wars: The Clone Wars – The Official Episode Guide: Season 1.

This is amazing information, and I own several WEG books so if anyone needs me to look at something let me know - if anyone's interested I can share which products I own and which editions. However, this makes the collector in me despair because a lot of the books are hard to acquire and now I'll need two editions of several! Arg. Either way, I look forward to the challenge.

Here is a thread from shortly after its release date. (Oh hey, OP is Cole's old account.)

You may want to try searching within the Jason Fry discussion thread, as well.
