Is it just me, or does it look like they’ve achieved equality by scaling Godzilla down, not Kong up? Which makes me suspect there might actually be a twist that we’re seeing Kong vs. a juvenile Godzilla. Kong vs. Godzooky, here we go!

 

I'm looking forward to it. Kong: Skull Island was pretty damn good, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters was so stupid it was awesome.

 

Will a way to destroy all monsters be the construction of Mechagodzilla?

We need Mecha G. And a Mechanikong too perhaps.

My nerd brain kept telling me that Kong was too big in Kong: Skull Island cuz he's supposed to be able to fit on a podium in a Broadways theatre stage ("Well, the ape's going to stand around for 3 hours or so. Then we'll close with the ethnic comedy of Duggan and Dirschwitz.") and like his head with the size of a helicopter or something. but that was basically just to scale him up to Godzilla sized for this flick.

 

Yeah, they upsized him so that he could have a legitimate chance against the G man, just like in '62. ☺

 

honestly, I was hoping they'd go doofy sci-fi enlarging ray on him or something, doesn't have to be so very seriious. I liked Kong Skull Island but my brain kept going "Kong too big!" Kinda had the same feeling about the Jackson movie too. He's agile and quick, compared to the big lumbering monster folk.

 

I actually liked the '76 version quite a bit. The effects hold up pretty well.

 

I've never been able to make it through. The oil crisis in place of a film crew and the lack of dinos just took the fun out of it for me.

 

Of course. We have Rick Baker to thank for that (He also portrayed Kong) . As far as this film, Team Godzilla all the way.

 

How are you with King Kong Lives, where they fix Kong by giving him a big industrial heart transplant?

 

I've never seen it and probably never will. I've heard it's a dumpster fire.

 

Kong grew a beard like everyone else during the pandemic.

 

Kong 76 had its moments but was very meh. Now King Kong Lives....hello!

I like the 76 Kong as well. But the 33 can't be beat. How bout King Kong Escapes? mechanikong!

 

Smashie smashie for awhile but then finally team up to take down Mecha-Godzilla at the end. Roar in distance as they both walk away in separate ways beaten up but not defeated.

 

Yep, because they both are the Good Guys. They are the Batman vs Superman of giant monsters.

 

Once while waiting in line for TESB SE someone behind me explained to his friend, "Yes I'll go see the Return of the Jedi SE but I'm not going to like it." That's how I feel about Kong vs Godzilla. I hope it's good but if KoM was an indication then it's just gonna be a dumpster fire and to top it off they'll have Kong win where I want Godzilla to win.
