In ESB ; after Han decides to take shelter in Bespin (in order to elude the Imperials) , he sets the course for the Cloud City , which's administrated by his one-time friend Lando Calrissian. When the team (Han, Leia, Threepio and Chewie) arrive there, they receive a very warm welcome from Lando (well, I'm excepting "Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler! You've got a lot of guts coming here, after what you pulled!" :) ). Little do they (Han&his friends) know that Lando's true purpose was to lure them into a trap, and after they spend a little time in Bespin , Lando invites them to the refreshment. When they arrive the dining hall , they find out that Vader's been already waiting for them in the place, so it's revealed (by Lando) that Vader&the Imperials'd arrived there before they did (the scene which shows Vader warding off the laser shots with his hand and force-pulling Han's revolver always comes veeerrryyy catchy for me :) ). The thing that puzzles me in the part is ; how can the Imperials get in to the Cloud City without-being-noticed-by the occupants of the Cloud City.

I mean; while Lando is taking Han, Leia and Chewy to the dining hall, the audiences see the inmates of Bespin walking around, resuming their daily lives, but if they had been aware of the precence of the Imperial forces in the first place , they (Bespin citizens) would've already left the place. They know that the mining facility works illegitimately, and (they also know that) the Empire's finding out their illicit work will be the end of the establishment's activities. And considering the fact that the Emperor applies "very" oppressive methods for punishment , the results of the plight shall be so severe&drastic for them. For ; after Lando frees Leia&Chewie from the Imperials , he makes an annoucement to Bespin as to Imperials' existence in the place, and rrrright after his statement , we see the residents (of Cloud City) running around ; rushing to leave the city in-a-great-panic.

They're aware that the Empire shall shut the facility down , but-they're-also-aware that the penalty they're going to recieve (from the Empire) will be so acute. So ; if they've noticed the Imperial activity at the time when Vader&Imperials arrived , they'd've already fled from there, and their dwelling in Bespin until Lando's warning shows-that-they-were unaware of the Imperial presence (oh, and speaking of which, I like the Special Edition version of the annoucement part a lot! :) .When Lando informs the citizens about the Imperials , we were only able to see the people listening to Lando from inside of Bespin's buildings in the original version, but in the latter footage , the movie shows the "whole city" paying attention to the very annoucement , and Lando's voice echoes through the Cloud City. Mr Lucas is very clever ; for he knows where to make the touchups to the original footage in the best , most efficient way).

And also ; while escaping from Bespin , Leia notices the Executor , signifies it and bids "Star Destroyer". It's a HUGE starship , and it's IMPOSSIBLE to pass it off. If we presume that it (the Executor) had been standing there ever since the Imperials were on Bespin , Han&the team-should've-spotted-it while they were approaching Bespin , for Executor is no ordinary cruiser , it's prominently bigger than all of the Star Destroyers (and even Star Destroyers are COLOSSAL starships) , so it's-unfeasible-for-a vessel in "that" magnitude to hide when it's somewhere around the planet.

Nowadays; I watch the prequel SW movies. Whenever I watch the SW serial ; I go through the chronological order ; I begin from the prequels , after I finish them (the prequels) , I watch Solo&Rogue One (since Rogue One takes-place-rrrright-before A New Hope , I put Solo prior to Rogue One) , than I pass to the Originals, and finally , I watch the Sequel T. movies. In the Prequel Trilogy , the artist whom I mostly like her performance is Natalie Portman. Instead of being a brilliant actress , instead of having a great gift of acting , she also has an unpeered comeliness ;) .....Weeks ago , I watch the '60-made western classic "The Magnificent Seven" , which's a true masterpiece. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" ; the movie tells the story of a couple of gunslingers' struggle against a ruthless bandit (portrayed ny Eli Wallach) and his gang of brigands. Yul Brynner (who plays the film's main character) is extremely , EXTREMELY charismatic in the movie. It's not only the best western I'd seen, but it's also one of the best movies I'd watched thus far.

At the time it was released, the film was very successfull, so much so that it spawned three sequels , there were also movies "derived" from it (The Mag. Seven) such as the '88-made "Young Guns" (even The Magnificent Seven's "derivative" was so brilliant ; the film (Young Guns) was a great blockbuster , so two years after its release , a sequel - "Young Guns 2" came out (which was adorned by Jon Bon Jovi's tracks) , a tv show named "The Young Riders" , which was inspired by Young Guns was produced right after the release of the first YG ; much like its predecessor (that is Young G.) , the series was so catchy , and now a third movie of the YG franchise is in development) , the ('93-made) tv movie "The Last Outlaw" - which was directed by Geoff Murphy. A 2-seasoned tv show ; "The Magnificent Seven" aired on tv in '98 , which was a direct adaptation of the '60-made classic , and Michael Biehn stepped into the role of Chris Larabee in the production. And in 2016 , a remake of the first movie was made. The remake was also a great flick , but it WAS NOT as good as the original one. There was a SPLENDID acting in the classic Magnificent Seven , which doesn't exit in today's movie sector.

Early this year ; in the 7th of January , I opened a topic about the tv show "Outlander" , and in the thread , I'd told that few actors in the present period had the acting quality to catch up to the standards of the artists of the old era of Holywood. Well ; in today's cinema , it's a "sparkling" privilage , a real speciality to act in the level of classic actors , and in my opinion , Natalie Portman is one of the few actresses who has that eligibility. Many years ago ; waaaay back in '94 , I watched Ms. Portman in Luc Besson's "Léon: The Professional" , and at that time , it was obvious that she was going to be a heavyweight actress ; for despite her inexperience in acting , she was resplendently keeping pace with an accomplished performer like Jean Reno during the movie. I lastly watched Ms. Portman in the 4th installment of Thor films ; "Thor: Love and Thunder". At the end of the movie ; her character Jane Foster dies because of cancer , and in the bonus scene we see her arriving to Valhalla. Well ; even though the character deceases , I'd like to see Ms. Portman in the further Thor movies :) .....

Above ; I told that I'd been watching the prequel SW films , and whenever I watch The Phantom Menace ; I notice-a-particular-detail : Towards the end of the movie , after Padme Amidala captures the Viceroy of the Trade Federation , she says "Now Viceroy , we'll discuss a new treaty". But when-she-bids-the phrase ; she doesn't only say "we'll discuss a new treaty" , she gives-weight-to-the word "new" and says "we'll discuss a 'neeewww' treaty". I mean ; when Ms. Portman bids the very line , a ruthless tone-overweighs-to-her voice and she appears like a "female Darth Vader" at the very scene :) .....

SW is a franchise that has so much importance in my life , I may watch each and every Star Wars movie countless times without getting bored of watching. The same thing is valid for SW tv shows ; so speaking of which , the franchise's recent show "The Acolyte" airs on Disney+ these days , but I haven't begun watching it. I'm patiently waiting for the first season's episodes to be completed, for when I start the series , I want to see all chapters (of S1) readied before me :) .And by the way , I've read Ben Travis' essay about The Acolyte in Empire Mag.'s June issue. There's a part in the article (on page 53) with the headline "The Chosen Ones" , in which the show's actors tell who their fave force-users are , and mention why they pick the characters. Dafne Keen'd chosen Luke Skywalker , oh man , he's also standing on the top of my most favourite Jedi list :) .Luke is the main character of the original movies , the (classic) trilogy focuses on his story of the path he'd taken on becoming a Jedi , and the ordeals he faces while he's scrambling through that path. Mark Hamill's performance along the trilogy is SUPERB!!! :) .

Well , one more time , I've come to the end of one of my threads , goodbye until next time , and I hope you've enjoyed my neeewww topic ;) ..............................

I assume Vader & The Imperials cloaked themselves on the Star Destroyer and that's how they were able to enter Bespin/Cloud City without being seen

Cloaks are portrayed as very rare and expensive in tie-in material.

But can they fire their turbolasers while cloaked?

The only cloaked ship we see in TCW (which Lucas was directly involved with in a way he wasn't with the rest of the EU, and which was carried over to the Disneyverse when the rest of the EU wasn't), always decloaks before firing its weapons.

Clearly they didn't put their greatest warriors on the project.

Vader knew that if Han et al saw any sign of Imperials at Bespin, they'd turn and run without even landing, and the chase would be on again. I'm sure Vader played it smart, left his fleet just outside sensor range, and arrived quietly at Cloud City with nothing but himself and a shuttle full of stormtroopers. If they arrived in the middle of the night and went straight into hiding, most citizens wouldn't have a clue they were there. Vader meets privately with Lando and lays down the law. After the Falcon lands, Vader calls in his fleet and makes his move.

    Oh, ha, ha.

Cloaks as in cloaking devices for ships.

I never knew that the ships of SW had the cloaking ability , for when it comes to the EU (of SW) , I mostly go through the comics , and (in the comics) I've never seen a ship that'd cloaked itself thus far. But considering the fact that the SW stories take place in a world of fantasy , "nothing" is impossible.

In ESB when Han and the Falcon are trying to escape the ISDs and suddenly disappears, one of the Imperial officers says that no ship that small has a cloaking device. Ergo, ships larger than the Falcon can have cloaking devices.

One of the things Cad Bane asks for in TCW is a starfighter with a cloaking device:

    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Xanadu_Blood

a hint that (retcon by TCW) Needa's somewhat misinformed about them.

Though he wouldn't be the only one - Obi-Wan also thinks that the (somewhat larger than the Falcon) corvette in the TCW episode Cat and Mouse is very small for a cloaked ship when describing it to Anakin - "Well, no ship this small usually has a cloaking device".

Technically the Empire hasn't taken over Cloud City when they arrive. They are guests. It's only when Lando betrays Vader that he seceded control to the Empire. Plus, it's not clear that no one knows that they are there. They are hidden until the trap is sprung. After that they are walking around the areas where the holding cells are and the carbonite chamber is.

They did notice, but they kept their heads down as they like not being killed.

Two decades of living under a totalitarian dictatorship would do that to you: 'if you see the big scary troopers, keep walking and keep your mouth shut.' Unlike our heroes, who are part of a rebellion and are not afraid to fight, the rest of the mass are unarmed plebs with little to no fighting experience, and they have loved ones that I'm sure they'd want to protect. So, the big scary troopers that would not hesitate to rough 'em up, or harm their loved ones? Yeah, they're gonna do whatever they gotta to make sure that doesn't happen.

I kinda wonder if Lando told them all to evacuate to create chaos as a cover for their own escape. Had the Empire taken control of the city?

That's the debatable part. It probably was true, but unofficially. Officially they were guests.

Perhaps Vader and his team travelled through corridors and rooms that had been “secured” by the Bespin administration for their use. In the real world, visiting dignitaries are made to use routes that have been cleared by the host to simplify security and ease travel. It’s the same when the dignitaries visit certain locations. When the Imperials do come out of hiding, there are no civilians anywhere in sight. Notice that in the ensuing chase and firefight, there are no civilians around to complicate the fight: the corridors and hallways are empty. It would be a fairly simple matter for the Bespin administration to concoct a reason why certain areas are temporarily closed to the public without revealing the reason.

As for the Star Destroyer, could it not have been stationed in an adjacent system and made to jump in only after Skywalker had landed in the cloud city?

Apparently, the Executor itself was somewhere in the system, but I have no idea how it stayed hidden from the planet.
Vader and his Imperials came down in a shuttle (maybe a few if needed) and probably stayed out of sight of just about everyone through backdoors. And even if they were somehow out in the open. I don't think the population is going to make a scene or cause a panic evacuation.

Bespin is a huge gas giant, the Executor could be hidden in the gas clouds, Cloud City is hidden until you get close enough. I would say it was on the far side of Bespin but while they knew which the direction the Falcon was coming from, they had no idea which direct Luke was coming.

As for the people of Bespin, they never interacted with the Imperials, they were far too busy with their jobs. When the Falcon arrives the public look like they barely have a second to stop and they take no notice of Han, Leia and Chewie.
