They should put Lak Sivrak back into the cantina.

This CG cover up of was not needed and removes a cool alien. Lucas always said there weren't enough creatures in the cantina so why not just add another scene if you want another creature. Lak Sivrak (the wolfman) was always one of my faves.

But GL wanted to replace him so what you think doesn't really matter and the addition or removal does nothing to interfere with the flow of the movie.

The reason they yanked him is because the mask had already been used in other movies. It was a stock Wolfman mask, and not an original creation made for SW.

So if you want to see him, maybe you've just gotta find some old horror movies... [face_pumpkin]

    YES! YES! YES!

I love him he was my favorite guy in the cantina background. The elephant guy sucked. You have no idea how angry I was when I first saw SE.

Who cares? He was cool. He even had an EU short story and species made because of him. GL needs to stop trampling the EU. And GL has used Shistavanens. In the cartoon series.

I wonder, did people love Lak "Wolfman" Sivrak as much before 97?

Well, it doesn't mean he's not THERE, just that they don't show him. If that makes you feel better. But yeah, I was looking for him, and wondered where he went.

Sure, he was fine. And I do not like Ketwol at all.

"It was a stock Wolfman mask, and not an original creation made for SW".

    "Who cares? He was cool".

Exactly. C'mon there are so many great things in SW which are not that original and still they work great.

The good news is, he's not totally out. He's right there in the first shot inside the cantina.

I always wondered why they didn't just replace the mask with an animated CGI version of the same character, instead of replacing him with that ridiculous looking slurpee sipping beret wearing frog or whatever it is.

Yes. I had the action figure and read his story in Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina. I was really POed in '97 when I saw he had been replaced in the cantina. At least GL left Barada, my other background favorite, alone.

My God, is there anything the EU wont leave alone?

I think the Wolfman was dumb, personally. What the heck is a Wolfman doing in galaxy that's far, far away?

In that case. What the heck are humans doing in a galaxy far far away? Or devils? Or slugs?

Seriously out of thousands of alien species you cannot accept that one looks like a wolfman?

Because the wolfman looks like it's from OUR reality!

Sure, I can accept humans being in a galaxy a long time ago and far away, because in that film reality, that's what's presented as real.

In fact, the only thing that truly reminds me of our Earth in that entire film (besides the diffrerent land enviroments used), is that Wolfman, because it looks like it walked off the set from some 1930's monster flick.

What's more disturbing is that in the shot of the two Duros' talking, one of them has a "human" hand and an alien hand - that's scary.

In an RPG I was playing online I played as a Shistavanen... So, to put it simply, I miss the wolfmen... they're awesome.

Lak Sivrak is one of the best in the cantina.

it might sound kind of silly, but when I was young the cantina scene was one of my favorite in the movie. upon seeing the "new and improved" cantina scene in the SE, it soon became one of my least favorite. Between the loss of Lak Sivrak and the shot heard 'round the galaxy, I can barely stand to see it any more. :(

S_R, so why didn't they take out all the Cantina aliens? Or at least most of them. In the DVD commentary they say that most were masks from other movies.

So they take out the wolfman and replace him with an elephantman. Really creative and other worldly.

And I completly agree with you Hobbit.

It should be noted that the two new aliens in the cantina are not CGI- they are puppets.

In fact, they are both the same puppet, only one is turned backwards with a hat on it's head (and the tusks removed).

As for what wolfmen were doing in the GFFA, (going by the results of the fan-picked Clone Wars cartoon character) pursing many careers apparently ;)
