Since the old thread was automatically locked and deleted by the boards I've decided to go ahead and restart it. Basically this is the thread were you can come and post your reviews of Hasbro Star Wars figures instead of us having a thread started for every single figure cluttering up the front page. You can review old vintage line figures, POTJ, Saga and even upcoming figures if you'd like. If Hasbro made it and it has to do with Star Wars it's fair game and you're free to review it here. ;)

I found the new wave of Action Fleet,
Dooku's Sailor is really lame. Unlike me, Don't buy that piece of rubbish, but the other 2 are fantastic, Especially the ATTE!

Just got the repaint Yoda with Jedi Council chair. Its better then I thought it would be, its been repainted well, but the only problem I have is that its smiling. Yoda doesnt smile much in AOTC. They also stuck a magnet into his hand to hold the saber he comes with, I wonder how they pulled that off. All in all, an OK fig. 7/10.

Darth Maul:Sith Training is wonderful. The detail on his head is great, and you can bend his knees this one kooky way that makes him kneel before the hologram Darth Sideous he comes with (the same mold that came with the above mentioned Dooku, but ahh waddaya goin ta do?). And his lightsaber is styled like most are as of late, with a metal hilt that he can grip with the magnet in his hand, and removable blades. There are tiny wheels on his back (ala Anikan with removable arm) that can make his arms move, but these are barely noticable and dont mess up the articulation, which is wonderful. A 10/10.

Ill right, Ill do one on the Flying Geonosean With Sonic Blaster and Attack Pod.
(go to http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=swsaga/sw02dlxflyinggeonosianloose.jpg for an image)

Okay, the Geonosian is okay for the most part, but the color is wrong, its too light, much like the one that came with slashing Anikian. The flapping wing assembly is kinda bulky and unwieldy, and the wings have a tendancy to come off, they'er barily attached. The Sonic blaster is porportionatly too large, and it fires a blue "vortex" of energy, whereas it should fire a greenish ball. And now for the "Attack Pod". I thought that this was supposed to be one of those huge Geonosian cannons, but its something else entirely, specificly a piece of crap. I remember opening this sucker on Christmas Morning and thinking "WT*!!!". Its a thing that has a slit in it that allows the alien to "hide" in it. If your a fan of action features, this is an okay buy. But otherwise, a fairly poor fig. 4/10

Okay, for my next one, Ill do the 300th Figure Edition Boba Fett.
(go to http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=potj/300fett_front1.jpg for an image)

OK, this is my favorite 3/4th inch fig ever. While the articulation isnt that great, the fig more then makes up for it with its great sculpt and detail. Whats really cool is that you can take it out or put it back in its package without marring it. So when your not playing, it can be in its box on the shelf (at least thats what I do). Fett comes with the rifle he had in ESB, his smaller pistol weapon which fits in a holster on his side. The jet pack is great, with swiviling jets and a firing rocket (much like the later Jango fig). The targeting range finder swivils down. A great fig, although I never saw it in big stores, I got mine from a Comic shop. 10/10.

Real quick, my thoughts on Anakin Skywalker Secret Ceremony.

This figure is great. The detail is excellent and he is a solid figure. His cloak is a good rendition and the robotic hand is perfect.

Plus from what I can tell, he has no annoying action features. A definite plus in my book. The only problem I see is the blast effect that attaches to his lightsaber. But overall a good quality figure.

    I'd say about a 9 out of 10.

And my collection is done, for now.

This thread sorta sunk, so Ill bump it with my thoughts on the Saga Bespin Escape Chewbacca (the new one with the Threepio cargo net) :

Best. Chewie fig. Ever. No foolin, this is a great figure. Hes articulated in all the usual places (with no lame action features!), as well as on the elbows and wrists. Whats more, his head rotates back so it looks like hes roaring, great for recreating the "Chewie Death Scene" in Vector Prime, for all you EU lovers. He doesnt come with a bowcaster, but just rip the one that came with the Chewie in the 25th Anniversary 2-pack and your in buisiness. The C3PO he comes with is in three seperate parts, the head, the torso and the other assorted pieces in a pile. Threepster has an action feature thats acctually cool, when you stick the head inta the torso, his eyes light up, a la the "head on backwards scene". Then just sling 'im in the cargo net and stick 'im on Chewie's back. Ill say it again, best Chewie ever. If you see this sucker, snap 'im up quickly, hes pretty rare, at least where I am.

Here's another point of view on the Flying Geonosian with sonic blaster and attack pod...

Initially, I was not going to buy this sucker. Dumbly posed arms, rubbery cow-hocked legs, very obstrusive 'flapping' lever on the figure's back. Then I thought that maybe I could customize and fix him up a bit, especially since he fit in well with the other small Geonosian figures, so wound up grabbing one anyway.

Once home, the first thing I did was clip off the activating flapping lever flush with the surface of the back. (I have to admit the 'flapping' action worked very well, although the darn wings do indeed have a bad tendency to fall off their bases.) Then I pushed the wing bases back a bit and slipped a loop of fishing line around both to hold them in place so that the wings could be posed in a more normal-appearing way (not stuck out to the sides). Looked better immediately! Slipped the wings off for the meantime and next painted up the critter's harness and skirt as per the movie. Even better...quite colourful, in fact! Now for the big honking gun. Pulled off the blue 'sonic effect' crud and ditched it. It looked ridiculous and the Geonosian looked ridiculous firing it, plus which it invariably tipped him over. Instead, I posed him with his stretched out right arm hanging by his side, hand grasping the handle of the gun lying beside him on the ground, and the other arm, sharply bent, pushed upward until his wrist was resting against his head just above his right eye. Added the wings again, posed with their tips on the ground to help support him, and suddenly I had a bushed, worn-out warrior wiping his brow with one hand as he dragged his mondo gun and sorry butt along behind him. Also found that he looks quite cute placed almost completely within his little pod, with only his head and bent left arm and shoulder poking out--the hand fits perfectly on the pod slit as if pushing it open to peek out.

Point is, with only a few alterations and a little dickering with his limited posibility, he's gone from being a dud to one of my favourite little figures. Maybe I'll even eventually add a few dots of gloss/sweat to his feverish little brow...just to emphasize how darn hard it is to be cannon fodder, whew!

I have a comment about the new Anakin with two sabers. The added attraction is great but the face looks nothing and I mean absolutley nothing like him. They should have made it more realistic looking

A friend bought me the new 'Pit of Carkoon' Boba loose on Ebay. Is it possible for a figure to be TOO articulated? I have him posed roughly according to the pictures I have seen at the moment, but if I move him or even bump him with anything he falls off the jet blasts, loses his gun, and is a real pain to get reposed as the legs want to go everywhere and the jet blasts don't want to stay in. Don't get me wrong - I like the figure, but I am seriously considering the strategic application of model glue to keep him assembled.
And I agree with Rogue about the Boba 300th. I have a bunch of these, both in and out of the box, as a local store was selling them for 1/3 off (both the first error edition and the second edition). I think this one is probably my favorite 3.75 inch figure.

Am I the only one who thinks the figures for AOTC blow? Hasbro should have stuck with the same style they used since relaunching the 3 3/4 inch line way back in 1995. I don't know what the deal is with all of the "Force action" stuff.

Sorry, RogueWompRat, can't provide pics--don't have the equipment. It's too bad because I have a whole little amusing action scene set up on one of my living room shelves...just all Geonosians (and the figures some came with), the only SW figures I've EVER bought (a collecting specialty within SW collecting, I guess). I agree with your rating of that Flying Geonosian as a 4 out of 10, by the way. Just as is, right out of the packaging, he isn't even a very good toy for a kid to play with--it's those darn wings, that pop off far too readily. I don't why they didn't just design a tighter, more secure fit.

By the way, 'tis true that real insects don't sweat exactly, but I've never seen one with skin, eyelids and lips, either! Way I see it, if these SW bugs can blink, they can sweat. And gawd knows what else...

The first Geonosian I bought was the one that came with the Slashing Action Anakin. Another pretty crummy toy, as is, IMO. My Anakin's 'slashing' feature couldn't dismember a wet kleenex, yet alone that hapless Geonosian figure, and his contorted pose and screaming face are laughable. His victim's handsomer, to be frank. Paint job on both figures looks uninspired and somewhat off to me and their limited articulation doesn't help matters, either--I'd give the set a 6 out of 10, with one of those points awarded solely for the cheerful grossness of the poor Geonosian's dismemberment feature. (He's designed to fall apart into three saber-sliced pieces and you can pull his wings and head off as well if you're really feeling mean.) Fact is, I wouldn't have bought the pair if I hadn't liked the Geonosian, and if I were a bigger Anakin fan, this version would give me the shudders.

BUT--as with the dud Flying Geonosian, I was able to capitalize on the set's faults. First, I glued the Geonosian permanently together. No more slicing and dicing Geos on MY watch! A bit of a brownish wash brought out his surface features and toned down the overly green paintjob too. Painted his harness (no skirt on this guy--he's a flasher! :)) and blacked his eyes in a bit to give him a perkier expression. Now for Anakin. I carefully untied his two lightsabers from his hands and removed them, then placed him on the ground on his back. Posed the Geo with the blue lightsaber in hand, aimed at the fallen wanna-be Sith Lord's side. Arrrghh!!! Aha, so that's why his face was so contorted! Add a massiff to chomp on his one raised knee and give the massiff's handler the green lightsaber to provide a backup poke or two, and this otherwise poorly sculpted figure all at once looks as though he were specifically made to lie on his back, hands flailing, screaming with horrid, unbearable pain. This pose even hides the annoying action feature push button on Anakin's back. From Slashing Action Anakin to Writhing Agony Anakin...heh, works for this fan. ;) Posed as described--a 10!

I should mention that my slice 'n' dice Geonosian, besides thrashing Anakin, also did a stint of temporary duty where I work, serving as the Christmas angel on top of the small live evergreen we decorated in the office. The same hand that was so nicely shaped to hold a lightsaber held a sprig of plastic holly equally well.

I'm also happy to report that, although quite a lot of people asked what he was, when told he was a character from Star Wars, not one person followed it up with, "What's Star Wars?" (Whew!)

I just picked up Darth Tyranus: Geonosian Escape. Obi-wan Acklay battle, and Anakinand Tyranus on speeders.

*Darth Tyranus is gret to look at. His hand is angled ust right to flick his lightsabre down as in the film. My only complaint would be that I was looking forward to attaching his "Force Lightning" effect, and it just doesn't want to stay on. 8-10

*Obi-wan: Finally an Obi-wan I can add to my Arena Battle scene. Looks great, poses great, and I love the little details like his metal spear, and the binders. 9-10

*Speeder Bike Anakin and Dooku: The ssculpts are ok, although I don't know why Anakin is riding with his mouth wide open, he could be swallowing tons of bugs that way. I love the speeders, but am disappointed with their "action features." You can make them slash their lightsabres while driving. I don't know why you'd want to. And why didn't Anakin come wearing his Jedi Cloak? I remember it billowing in the wind vividly in AOTC. 6-10
