Ok, I've seen this outside of our little Cincy forum here in relation to other cities.

Maybe I missed it in here.

    1) Do we know when tickets for EP2 may be going on sale? (I'm guessing we don't. But we should slap it up immediately on here when we know.)

    2) Where are you planning on going to see it?

Just some questions on the brain. Feel free to respond or not..MTFBWY

    Hey Ya!
I am not sure, but the idea everyone is having is heading to Springdale because it's the only local theater with the digital presentation of EP2 showing in our area. Folks have talked, but nothing it set in stone.

I know some talked about a midnight showing if there is one. Or the earliest there is for the day. Only time and show schedual will tell.

    Lotus! :)

    This is true.

For EP1 my wife (god, I love her) sat in line from about eight in the morning till the afternoon for our tickets. Well, this time I will be able to wait for them.

I'm psyched and ready to go. And springdale is about 5 mins from my house. So if they announce early ticket sales, I'll be there bright and early.

Well, the Springdale idea is really the best I believe. We definitely have to keep an eye open to see when the tickets go on sale!!! I definitely want to attend the first midnight screening if there is one! :) :)

I am agreeing also, with Ludo, I'd really dig a midnight showing for the group. I'm considering calling Showcase in Springdale and asking what it would take to get a theater to ourselves if we'd be willing to line up for it. Depending on the amounts of people willing to come we might be able to pull it off. All depends on what the theater would say, and how possible it would be to fill the seats required.

if we combined with the members of the Cincy chapter of OSWCC we might stand a better chance of filling seats for something like that!!!!

Speaking from experience, it's always great to work with other clubs to do things....what usually happens is you'll have people from both groups joining the other.

Cool, then we'll need a delegation from our club to go to Showcase in Springdale. I'll up calling the Manager of Showcase, but if they call for a meeting with us, I'd really like a group of three to meet with them.

I was thinking of the group from the Ohio Collectors Club, I've been busy this week, but I'm going to buzy an email over to them in about 5 minutes.

I'm glad everyone likes the idea. And thanks Seb, it was Icom4 that instigated this little stunt. I think I have found my new hero. *snif*

    So off I go!

I hate to be a drag guys, but I strongly doubt we'll be able to have a private viewing of the first midnight showing. There were 19 of us at the last OSWCC meeting (by the way Lotus, I've been a member of that club since 1997, so I'd be happy to be a go-between for the two clubs), and that was the largest group we've ever had. There's probably 15 of us here, so let's be optimistic and say that 30 people will be able to attend. Those theaters hold hundreds. We'd have to pay a hefty fee to rent that large of a theater for only 30 people.

2nd point: This is a highly anticipated movie. For Episode I, the line for prepurchasing tickets wrapped all the way around the building at Springdale. It's higly unlikely that we'll get preferential treatment. (I can hear people saying "It's not fair!!!!!" already)

I'm not a completely naysayer. Here's a couple things we could possibly do:

Have a private midnight showing a couple/few weeks after the movie opens. The rush will have died down and our chances of getting a private showing are much higher. (Besides, I'd be able to go! I'm going to be in Europe during the opening ;) )

Have a line party and purchase a block of tickets for a showing the same time everyone else does. If I remember correctly, no one was in line until the night before the theater started selling tickets for Ep I, so we could be among the first in line and could easily purchase that many tickets.

What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Lotus has enough on her plate right now, so I'd be happy to help organize something. :)

option 1; Our "private showing" wouldn't have to be exclusively our 2 clubs. I'm sure each of us can come up with at least 5-10 people who would not neccessarily join either club, but love Star Wars, and would LOVE being able to get a "private showing"

option 2; perhaps we could work an even better deal w/ the theater. Some of us have costumes and such...what if we offered to come in costume to the lineup and to the midnight showing and NOT see the movie at that showing, instead get an ADVANCED private screening in exchange for our "services." Those of us w/o costumes could work some sort of crowd controll or something, that way the theater would not have to rent cops or pay all their employees overtime

Fox is going to take pre-sales for the tickets. There is another options, but I'd have to see what I could do.

    Lotus!

*P.S* Kristen: Please do, I emailed the head of the group tonight, so why not drop him a line, and let him know you were the one I mention that was part of our group. Then you guys can work with us, since you know your group. *smiles*

Lotus, padawan_schlicher is also a OSWCC member. I recruited him. ;)

Speaking of which, if anyone else here is interested in collecting Star Wars-related stuff, please join the OSWCC! It's a fantastic group. For information, you can go to OSWCC.com, or you can send me either a PM or an email and I'll get you hooked up. We have meetings every second Saturday of the month.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards. I'm from Forest Park, not more than 5 minutes from Springdale. I'm currently attending Purdue University, but graduate in May just in time for AOTC. I prefer the line party idea. I had planned on waiting in line anyway for tickets to the midnight show.

The movie wasn't going to be just simply the 30 + of us from our group, I was leaving this open and extended to family, friends, and anyone who wants to go. The more the merrier, you can't take over a theater with 30 people.

So I've seen some good points here keep at it, I'm interested to see what else you guys come up with.

Also on with Padawan's point, those who have no costume, and are part of the club, could always wear their shirts...= )

does anyone know if my "option 2" that I had listed earlier is feasable?

that would just rock to be able to see it early. I actually got to see Phantom Menace the day before too. It wasn't in the best of theaters, but it was the day before, and free!

plus i think it would be fun to just go in costume to go as security and what not...even if we didn't get to see the movie at midnight

I'd like to be at the very first showing of ATOC myself. So regardless of what showing I'm going to be at that showing also.

I still have to call the Manager of the Theater, before we can have answers to what kinds of options we actually have.
