Tie Fighters With Blue Lasers ?

I dont know if this is a mistake or not , but in the original VHS release of ESB ( I dont know about the special editions ) after han leaves hoth and the 2 star destroyers chase him , 2 or 3 tie fighters that shoot at the falcon before they enter the asteroid field have blue laser fire , is this a mistake or not ?

 

any ideas .......?

 

I remember the laser bolts from the TIE's being blue in the original version of TESB.I don't know if it was a mistake or not,but they've been fixed in the SE's.The laser bolts are now green.

 

i liked em' better blue.

afterall, a chemical released by the nearby asteroids may have somehow cooled down the temperature of the blasters and made the bolts appear as a cooler blue.

 

i never seen these anywhere except in in a star wars 'scrapbook' i bought for like £3 once and they appeared purple.

i think blue bolts are for ion cannons though right? sticking with the board's knack for throwing up speculation out of things that were probably inocent mistakes, maybe the ties were equiped with ion cannons and ordered only to capture the ship instead of destroying it. although trying that with all those asteroids flying about would be like trying to ride a bike around your bedroom!!!

 

I've heard about this before, just never seen it.
But all the laser effects were standardised in the end.

 

In all the gazillion times I've watch ESB over the years, I've never noticed blue laser fire from the TIE's.

Green, White, and Blue.

Those are the colors they've shot all through the movies. All are mistakes exept green.

 

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering the same things.

 

The TIES shot green bolts, and the X-Wing's shot blue bolts.

All Alliance craft (exept Ion Cannon) are red.
All Imperial are Green exept the asteroid scene in ESB where the TIE's lasers are blue, then later on bespin when they're white. Blue and white ar mistakes.

 

with a matt black backround the green bolts will look much more green than against the backround of bespin. no mistakes as far as im concerned.

 

Their lasers were only blue in the THX VHS release. They're green everywhere else.

 

Yes Comet, in the original trilogy, the TIE fighters did shoot blue laser(which I always found strange), & when the ESB SE hit theater's, I kept an eye out to see if it was changed to green & indeed it was.

 

Wrong Wrong Wrong. When each film was released in the theaters, the TIE laser bolts were clearly green This was also true in every single video release I've ever seen. Sounds to me like everyone who is claiming to have seen blue laser may have gotten either a videotape copied from a bad master, or their tv was in desperate need of a color/hue adjustment.

 

I've only noticed the TIE lasers in ESB as green.

However, in at least the SE in the Asteroid Field at one point the TIEs have ISD laser sound effects.

Both my friend and I have the THX VHS tapes and we both see blue or white lasers during those scenes, so I really doubt the weird colors are from our TVs or tapes.

I always assumed that the colors were intentional and supposed to be ion lasers. I never knew it was actually a mistake.

 

Kanathan, I'm perplexed. I've been a fan for 27 years now and I have never seen the TIE lasers as anything but green.(And I've seeen 35mm and 16mm versions where the color was so faded, the films looked like they were shot in black and white) I've never seen the THX videotape versions, but I will take your word for it.
Hmmmmmmmmm.......I am intrigued.

 

As people have said, it is in the THX remastered version (pre-SE) where there are blue lasers. It actually only occurs in 2 places during ESB. Once during asteroid field, and once near the end as the Falcon is fleeing Bespin.

They were green in the non-THX original version, and green in the SE's. Only the THX version had blue lasers in those 2 parts.

 

...just watched on of the original trailers for ESB... I've read on some forums that on some ESB trailers the TIEs have blue lasers but there weren't any TIEs in the one i've just watched so maybe in another trailer...

However, there were blue lasers from the AT-ATs shooting the rebel radar guns and Vader and Luke had no effects on the lightsabers, just the reflective white rods..
