In conjunction with the February 3 release of Timothy Zahn's new Star Wars novel Survivor's Quest, Del Rey Books is releasing an original eBook novella, Star Wars: Fool's Bargain, also by Zahn.
Throughout its history, the planet Kariek has been scarred by violence, as warring Eickarie tribes battle for dominance. From this morass arose a mysterious Warlord backed by a legion of alien mercenaries. For five decades he has ruled while the tribes fought to topple him.

Now, the tribes have finally put aside their most violent differences to forge a tenuous alliance. This group has captured a city, and cornered the Warlord and his minions in the fortress. Aiding this revolution is the Empire of the Hand, a post-Palpatine Imperial splinter group.

The story follows a crack team from the 501st, the Empire of the Hand's most elite stormtrooper legion. These troops are deployed to capture the despised warlord alive, while negotiating with the unpredictable passions of zealous Eickarie freedom fighters with their own agenda.

 

Just got the S2 on the Zahn book. The book he'll be signing in KY on the 6th isn't the book that has the 501st Legion mentioned in it. That book will be an "e-book" available in April for around $3.50 and you'll have to download it. I'm unclear on if an actual hardcopy will be sold in stores.

 

Do you know if he will ONLY sign the new book?
I want to get a signed copy of The Last Command. That is my favorite Zahn book.

 

I'm bringing several of his books 3 hard covers maybe more....and he will sign them, I may have to put a Westar-34 to his head, but he will sign them.

 

Ok, any alibis for the signing? My self, Skip, Mike T. and our other Glenn (Obi-TN)and others are leaving tommorow afternoon. We are meeting at my house in Clarksville and heading out on the road. If anyone wants anything let me know.

Also..found out that his new book is deticated to the 501st Vaders Fist....very cool.

 

Well what a nice little trip and a fantstic time it was. 5 fanforce members attended this event myself, Jeff TK-6873, GMSepiroth Mike T, Obi-TN Glenn and Skip. We all met up at my house and carpooled to Lexington and costumed for a few hours then chatted with Mr. Zahn and he signed everything we had. I would of had him sign something for other members but no one showed any interest in posting to this thread.

Oh yeah....this book is very good so far. I asked Zahn "The Stormtroopers are gonna kick some butt...right?" and he said "Oh yeah" It was only a matter of time that the New Republic would start to fall and stronger factions of the Empire would arise yet again to restore order in a galaxy. I like the fact that these shock troops are pure recruits and not clones. I still hate the fact that he killed Thrawn off. Maybe he will kill off Mara Jade next.
