I have once again a few questions about something of the SW EU and that is:

    1. Are there any pics of the Togorians besides the one on the cover of 1 of the Han Solo trilogy novels?
    2. Are the catlike species that appear in 1 of the comics with Exar Kun in it also Togorians? I believe 1 of them, a female, slashes at Kun giving him those 3 scars on his cheek.

    Thanks.

    No, they are Cathar.

    Cathar:

Obviously the fanmade action figures are not official togorians interpretations.

That's probably the best picture. I don't know if they were in the essential guide to aliens or not.

Artwork in the top middle is from the EGTA.

The picture you think might be fanart, is the same one shown just below and to the right of the EGTA art. It's apparently in a sourcebook going by that printed text next to the picture, but I'm not sure which sourcebook. Possibly the Dark Force Rising SB.

the 3rd Togorian picture is actually just a "jazzed up" version of the sourcebook one. I'll have a look around for the EGTA one.

I wouldn't call it exactly jazzed up, but color masked, and cropped from its original source... Otherwise it still remains the same piece of artwork with no physical additions, or subtractions, which in itself is a kind of bland piece of work that just serves its purpose to define what a member of the particular race looks like.

and it has a fancy background :)

Anyway I found a picture of a Togorian Scimitar if that's any use...

    [image=http://www.gamebooks.org/scans/StarWarsM/scim1.jpg]

And some stats for it too.

"and it has a fancy background"

Fancy?!?! You are impressed easily I see, ;).

However I wouldn't really call it a true background, and the cropping of the togorian wasn't even perfect as part of the white background still remains as a white halo around the entire piece.

I have that card. I have a complete set minus one card in that series due to getting two of one card(vader's tie), when I should have gotten a different card instead (Dreadnaught), :p...

I think Exar wanted a bigger scan of it though. I don't own the EGTA but from what i've heard it has several illustrations for each entry, is this true with the Togorian one?

    EDIT:

    http://homepage.mac.com/wntermute/swreference/sentients/n-z.html

Exar: this site lists Togarians as "coming soon" so you may want to keep an eye on it.

Nope only 1 piece of artwork on 1 page entries. 90% of the book is 1 page entries.

2-3 page entries usually have more artwork, but that's a very small percentage of the book.

Basically, there is one piece of artwork for each page.

Togorian was a 1 page entry, so that was all the artwork it had.

A custom fan figure of H'sishi. But of course this isn't an official represenation, although it slightly resembles the EGTA picture.

They evolved seperately on two different worlds. So they are two different species. They are also physically different in some ways.

It's not on the stands until June 2, but there will be a Togorian in issues 65 and 66 or Star Wars Republic.

I think all the feline species in the galaxy are related. Trianii, Cathar, Togorians, Catuman, Ranth, Farghul, there's just so many!

Just because a species is feline in nature doesn't mean they are related. There are alot of non-sentient feline species that evolved on planets of their own accord, for instance the type seen in Vector Prime.

As there are native non-sentient primates on planets as well.

It just happens to be that Feline is a fairly normal evolutionary direction on any planet, as is mammals, or reptiles.

Remember alot of species on planets evolved on their worlds before there was even space travel.

Dantari for instance are said to be native to Dantooine. So they apparently evolved from something on the planet. Yet they are neanderthal like.

    Togorians

    Trianii

    Ranth

    Farghul

Sorry, I can't give you the Cathar, which we've already got examples of on here, or the Catumani from that source as they don't have them.

There is a young catlike creature that may or may not be a Togorian on this picture:

The picture in question comes from the West End Games Star Wars Galaxy Guide to Aliens. I don't know what number in the series that Galaxy Guide is, though.

The Marvel Comics also had a cat-like race that Luke and company had to deal with. I don't remember their name, though.

Aliens are always more impressive when they aren't based on something we have here on Earth, in my opinion. How many cat-people, bird-people, wolf-people, fish-people, and bug-people do we need, anyway?
