PARIS ? Actor Tom Cruise said he proposed to girlfriend Katie Holmes early Friday at the Eiffel Tower.

Speaking at a Paris news conference alongside Holmes, who was wearing an outsized ring, Cruise said, "Yes, I proposed to her ... it was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven't slept at all."

Cruise, 42, was in Paris to promote the French release of the Steven Spielberg film "War of the Worlds" next month. He and 26-year-old Holmes went public with their romantic relationship in April.

The two have faced repeated rumors of marriage. The relationship started after Cruise split from actress Penelope Cruz, and Holmes and actor Chris Klein called off their long-standing engagement.

I guess if you're Tom Cruise, you can trade your model in for one with less mileage and one that handles more tight in the turns.

Actually, Tom Cruise is a licensed pilot, as well...If memory serves, he did an interview with Entertainment Weekly while flying, about six months ago.

 

Plus, if you watch Top Gun, you can clearly see he's an ace pilot.

Cruise can fly a helicopter, because he's helped rescue people before. Not sure about a plane.

 

She's just star struck and star ******.

I mean she even converted to Scientology.

You just know this is simply a fling gone too far.

 

Has cruise actually done that? I know Harrison Ford has done a few helicopter rescues.

Yes, I believe he has. While living in England.

 

Cruise can fly. He has a P-51 Mustang and several other planes as well. Think he has to sit on a booster seat though.

 

Sounds like he's moving in for the kill before anyone else has a chance to. And he sounds obsessed.

I really don't think anyone should consider either of them cool. It's disturbing. I always thought that there was sexual tension between those two in that film.

 

There was a lot of repression in Top Gun. I'll still watch it, though, every time it's on.

And Katie Holmes is such a beard it's not funny. Rock Hudson was married, too.
