So we've had favorite Sith, favorite Jedi, favorite non-Forceful... What about favorite characters in general (canon or EU)?

I know there are technically 11 characters on this list, but Zayne and Gryph are greatest when they are together, kind of the Star Wars equivalent of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser. What makes them shine is their partnership and separating them really diminishes both characters, as exemplified by the exceptionally dull KOTOR: War miniseries.

Like always this list could easily change, especially the lower section of the list.

 

Heroes.

1. Luke Skywalker. He is the hero in the original trilogy I love how he shows signs of perhaps falling to the dark side but ultimatelly he does not.
2. Obi wan kenobi. I like him better in the prequal trilogy but he is pretty awesome in ANH aswell.
3. Qui Gone Jinn. I like his self reliant nature he always knows what he wants and always gets what he wants as a result of trusting in his of judgement rather then others. He might seem a little arrogant but I like a character who knows what he wants and is not afraid of apposing other peoples judgements even when he has no support from others.
4.Anakin Skywalker. I dont care much for him in AOTC but I like him in ROTS and ROTJ he is also great in the EU material,
5.Leia Princess. I dont think that every female character has to be a strong role model but Leia was quite unusuall for her time remember the first star wars film was made in 1977 and back then strong female leads were not to commen
6.Padme Amidala. Like how she has a warm gentle side to her aswell as a strong serious authority side to her. Although I think this was intentional so people would not figure out that Padme was the same person as Amidala
7.R2-D2 Not much of a personality her but he makes up for it by being proactive in every singel movie he is in.
8.Jar-Jar binks. He is actually really usefull in TPM and unlike most people I actually think he is funny.
9.C3PO. Somebody had to translate for the Ewoks if they were going to help the rebels.
10. Alpha A-17. Badass clone enough said.

Villains.

1.The emperor. He is behind every evil in all six films.
2.Darth Vader. The Empires number one space pilot need I say more.
3.Darth Plaguise the wise. He is the catalyst for pretty much everything happening in all the six films.
4.General Muff Tarkin. He is such a cold hearted pyschopath.
5.Naut Gunray. If you have not noticed it he is the only person in the six film saga who has any character development while still reemaining a villain. By that I mean that he goes from a greedy opertunist to somebody who has a personal vendetta against Amidala.
6.General Grevious. Not much to say about him in ROTS but he has the most interesting back story in the EU as far as movie character are concerned.
7.Lord Tyrannous. Intresting back story he was a good villain for AOTC and ROTS.
8.Darth Maul. I almost consider him the precursor to the Orc general in the first lord of the rings movie dark skin, war painted, yellow eyes kills one of the main characters. Although I preffer Maul.
9.Boba Fett he is pretty much the reason for half the stuff happening in ROTJ.
10. Jango Fett. He is like a more dangerous and skilled
Boba Fett unless you count the EU material.

 

Hmm ... well - I do happen to be intrigued BY THE FORCE of these individuals and I have to be compelled to put down more than 10 on the list ... - not in order BUT:

1.) Rahm Kota - tough no-nonsense Jedi Master veteran and one of them Jedi whom didn't use Clone Troopers...
2.) Starkiller - Galen Marek - putting over-ratedness aside - consider he did have quite some potential and he did redeem himself somewhat and helped start the Rebel Alliance...
3.) Dash Rendar - well an anti-hero mercenary ...
4.) General Grievous - enough said ....
5.) Cad Bane - also enough said
6.) Surprisingly ... THE ZILLO BEAST! As a Godzilla Big-G Gojira aficionado since the age of 2 and seeing how the Zillo Beast is a homage to the Kaiju King ...
7.) Captain Rex - afterall he is still kicking ass in Rebels
8.) Darth Plagueis - need I not mention next to being Palpatine's Sith Master, Mentor and an Esoteric and Mysterious yet Powerful Sith Scholar of the Midichlorians ...
9.) BRAND! > Afterall in the EU comics Dark Empire he did sacrifice himself to stop Palpatine for good
10.) Kar Vastor - Mace Windu's Ghosh Windu Clanbrother and yet the fact he developed Peletokan - or the Force at Haruun Kal on his own with no training, intervention, help, food, water and all the whilst the Jungle Justice to survive ...
11.) Commander Cody Our loyal crisp Clone Commander
12.) Bossk ... our tough-ass beloved Trandoshan Merc...
13.) Darth Nihlus - didn't 'Give a Force' about the Sith ...
14.) DURGE! > - practically a Hulk/Doomsday/Wolverine like Brute with the smarts and experience to match ...
15.) K'Krukh - he's practically a VETERAN like Master Yoda ... he don't need to be nearly 1000 years old to experience the Galactic to the Galactic Triumvirate eh?
16.) Gar Stasi Another Duros I like and with the leadership comparable to Ackbar ...
17.) Do various Battledroids count? So like the Self-Motivated-Heuristic-Programmed-Humaniform-Automatic-Combat Droids aka the IG-100 Magnaguards or Droid Commandos count?
18.) Walon Vau - a tough hard-boiled no-nonsense Mandalorian Merc and hard to read ...
19.) DELTA SQUAD - particularly CC-1140 - Fixer
20.) Marka Ragnos - SITH EMPEROR!
21.) Freedon Nadd - he does have a similar story in a sense to Anakin at times ... and the fact he was the Sith Ruler of Onderron ...

21.) Jango Fett - I dunno - I just like him better than Boba Fett ...
22.) EMBO - another tough-ass bounty-hunter and practically he could hold off on his own
23.) Count DOOKU! Afterall - he did really want a better Republic ... perhaps he was abit too arrogant and too expectant ...

2. Starkiller/Galen Marek - The only person to so utterly defeat Darth Vader... oh yeah, he also sucked up lightning and shot it at Vader
3. Darth Vader - the ultimate iconic villain
4. Darth Maul - highly underused villain with huge potential
5. Mara Jade Skywalker - Luke's wife and also the woman assigned to assassinate him (can you say a 180?)
6. Count Dooku - brought class to the villains of the PT
7. Jango Fett - father and DNA supplicant for Boba Fett, supreme bounty hunter
8. Commander Cody - ROTS's clone general, stoic and loyal
9. Grand Moff Willhelm Tarkin - The only man besides the Emperor who can both give Vader orders (and not die), and also refers to Vader as "my friend"
10. Revan/grey knights - I like the idea of balance of the "light" side and "dark" side

As you might gather, a) the DS-1 conference room and Jabba's Palace are some of my favorite scenes in the OT; and b) the original Marvel Star Wars run and Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison are my favorite comics. I'm big on baddies, especially goofy, hammy, sarcastic, and/or flamboyant ones. Striking costuming/hair and species design helps, too.

 

It's tough to put them in order, but I think my list would go something like this

Luke-because he's the most powerful Jedi to ever live
Obi-Wan-because he's f'n Obi-Wan
Anakin Solo-because he SHOULD have been the next chosen one
Mara Jade-not nearly as powerful as Luke, but still every bit as dangerous. ROFLSTOMPED Caedus, until he played dirty
Corran Horn-despite lacking basic telepathic abilities, he was still pretty much Luke's right hand man. An amazing duelist.

Darth Vader-because, duh
Darth Bane-he laid the groundwork
Darth Sidious-as wise as he was powerful
Darth Zannah-probably equal to Obi-Wan in dueling, and scary as hell with her sorcery
Darth Caedus-because he's so freaking powerful
