    Hi...

Im making a Twi-Lek SW character in an RPG. He is from the rebellion era, but I want him to have a family member either from the hedio council, or the order itself.. right before getting slaughtered...

so question is... do you know of any Twi-lek jedi master from around Ep. 3?

To my knowledge, there were only three named Twi'leks in the entire EU who were Jedi - Tott Doneeta from the Tales of the Jedi comics, Zhar from the KOTOR game, and Aayla Secura from the comics and AOTC. Mmm, Aayla.

    There were other Twi'lek Jedi:

Nerra Ziveri - Republic Era, Jedi Master and Headmaster of the training facility on Almas, watchman of the Cularin System

Docent Vant - Republic Era, Jedi instructor at the Temple, only had one lekku

Anoon Bondara - Republic Era, lightsaber master, killed by Darth Maul

Xiann - Republic Era, Padawan to J'Mikel

Norcuna - Republic Era, Jedi Master and General during the Clone Wars, killed by Jambimi seperatist leader Alto Stratus

Alema Rar - NJO, elevated to Master

Numa Rar - NJO, killed by voxyn

Daeshara'cor - NJO, killed by amphistaff bite, disappeared at death

Swilja Fenn - NJO, killed by Tsavong Lah

    And darksiders:

Kopecz - Sith Era, Sith Lord, presumedly died in the Thought Bomb event at Ruusan

Reess Kairn - Republic Era, went rogue and became a pirate, killed by Aurra Sing

Boc - Rebellion Era, one of Jerec's dark Jedi stooges, killed by Kyle Katarn

Alema wasn't elevated to Master, she was elevated to Knight in Destiny's Way (although I had always been under the impression she was one before that book anyway)

There's also Jor Drakas, a Twi'Lek Jedi General in the Clone Wars who was killed on Sarapin by Sevrance Tan (see Clone Campaigns)

Hmm..i think i spelt it wrong there.

EDIT: Is it just me, or do Twi'lek seem to be the most common non-human jedi?

Yeah, QG, that was kind of what I've been thinking and what I was trying to point out by posting that list of the Twi'lek Jedi/darksiders I knew of.

There's also an unnamed blue male Twi'lek Jedi that dies in a Tales story and, IIRC, at least one Twi'lek Jedi in the big "family picture" at the end of Union.

As far as Alema Rar's rank, I took the info from the CUSWE. It says, "Alema was one of many Jedi Knights who were elevated to the rank of Jedi Master, at a ceremony that recognized his devotion to the Force and the trials he had faced." I don't really remember specifics, and I didn't look anything up to corroborate CUSWE's info. If they are wrong, I accept responsibility for posting without checking the validity. One indication of their accuracy could be that that excerpt seems to indicate that Alema is male.

Twi'leks do seem to have an affinity for the Force, as do Humans and Zabraks.

Didn't TOTJC or Dark FOrces: Jedi Knight say Twi'leks were rare among Jedi? And yet, the Prequel stories are full of Twi'lek Jedi, and there are a plethora of female Twi'lek Jedi in the NJO (at least 4) as well as numerous Twi'lek Jedi kids at Luke's Yavin Aademy (along with humans, Bothans, Wookiees, and 1 Melodie!)--and also that red Twi'lek Jedi mentioned in an above post, and Boc in the NR era for a short time, albiet he was a NUTTER.

Well, do you have the exact census numbers? Its possible the number of Jedi twileks are few compared to the total amount of Twilek citizens in the galaxy. In which case Jedi Twileks would be rare.

Remember we aren't being shown the whole picture, of the total population counts for individual species in the galaxy. Plus EU tends to spotlight the rare exceptions to the rules over the majority, in most stories.

That's odd, I seem to remember the Essential Guide to Aliens saying that Twi'leks were strong in the Force. I could be wrong, the book is currently packed away for our move.

It's just good seeing a Twi'lek as something other than a slave girl.

Yeah, RogueWompRat, but I think Aayla managed to combine the physical beauty aspect associated with dancing girls with her Jedi profession. And I think she made the combination work well for her. I mean, who'd suspect such a lovely sight to be a Jedi?

Hmm, I think there are a lot of human jedi simply because there are a lot of humans, full stop.

As for Zabraks...How many Zabrak jedi/sith were there?

    I can only think of...

    Eeth Koth
    Agen Kolar
    Darth Maul

    Any more?

EDIT: Forgot Kass from the Battle of Jabiim.

For the record, Master Zhar's full name is Zhar Lestin. (quoting from the Prima Strategy guide)

And I have to agree that Tott Doneeta is an excellent character. He is, more or less, what I view the average Jedi to be in the TOTJ stories. I mean, nearly every main character has something special... Ulic is a Sith Lord, Cay is the Sith Lord's brother, Nomi is extremely skilled in Battle Meditation, Sylvar's mate dies, most of the other Jedi characters die at some point... but Doneeta is just there, assisting where he can, how he can and when he can, and is capable of going through it all. In a way, he is the Chewbacca of the "Tales of the Jedi" series... the token alien.

And I still say that they could've easily replaced master Zhar Lestin with Tott Doneeta. That would've been a neat cameo in KotOR and the changes in the dialogue would've been marginal at best.

Well, now that I think about it, Jaden Korr could also be technically a female Zabrak/Twi'Lek Jedi/Dark Jedi.

And speaking of more Twi'Lek Jedi, there is also Bolook whom gives the murder investigation on Dantooine in KotOR and Deesra who tells the player more about the Terantateks.

Val, I would think Twi'lek Jedi being rare would be NOT as far as the Twi'lek population, but the Jedi population.

OK, so if there are 100 Jedi in NJO (more or less), inc. at least 5 adults and AT LEAST 2 kids, that is 7/100. That's about 1 out of every 14 Jedi. That is NOT rare.

Also, the original Headmaster of Almas Academy was Twi'lek, what was his name?

Too many Twi'leks and Rodians in SW books and comics, and far too much in KOTOR.

Um, don't authors know how much creative fun you can have with aliens? Humans can't do anything; a measely couple fo eyes and legs and arms . . . But a good exotic alien, well, let the fun begin. I'd write an alien character over a simple human anyday!

Take Gands for instance. They see in utraviolet; respire but don't actually breathe; can regenerate limbs to an extent; and sleep little. Apparently, from the Aayla comics, Twi'leks can store memory. They can't really forget anything. Enhance a given species. It's fun!

Was that little Twi'el girl who appeared in Hunt for Auura Sing mentioned in that list? I don't have the Jedi: Aayla isue yet, when she reappears, older.
