Pacific "Twice Upon a Time" (executive produced by George Lucas) Coming to DVD in Spring 2015

At a screening of John Korty’s film Twice Upon a Time at BAMcinématek on February 24, 2015, it was confirmed that the cult hit animated film will be released on DVD this spring through the Warner Archive collection. The release will include both the G-rated original version of the movie and the one that aired on HBO in 1984 which added some more off-color material (documented by Taylor Jessen in this article and in more detail in issue #9 of Animation Blast).

Twice Upon a Time was executive produced by George Lucas and co-directed by John Korty and Charles Swenson. Numerous individuals involved its production in the 1980’s went on to become some of the definitive talents in the animation world, including Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline) and Pixar’s Harley Jessup (Monsters Inc., Ratatouille), along with David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club). The movie was filmed using Mr. Korty’s “Lumage” animation, which used translucent fabric cutouts in a paper-cut animation style.
