Two Thousand Five vs Twenty O Five

A local news reporter refers to our current decade as "Twenty O insert last diget" For example it was not June 25, Two Thousand Four, it was June 25, Twenty O Four. I am inclined to agree with his pronunciation. Personally I'm sick of saying the year with the "thousand" within it.

Twenty O Five sounds a little...strange, don't you think? Personally, I prefer Two-Thousand-Five. Then again, that's probably because I've heard it so much. If I heard people name it Twenty O Five from the start, I would probably prefer it as well.

 

Twenty Ten works well. I'm sure by then it will be universal. However I'm sticking with Twenty O Five.

I think that's a awkward pronunciation, myself. But I agree that by 2010, it will be universal(and much less awkard to pronounce )

 

I prefer "two donut donut five." It makes me feel all jelly-filled inside.

I've been wondering about this for some time. I say it both ways...but I like Twenty O Five better.

I always assumed that once the year 2000 was over and done with we would go back to the accepted way of saying the year... Obviously it hasnt happened, but I agree that by 2010, we wont be saying "two thousand" anymore....Hopefully, because I find it terribly annoying

hey, finally an advantage of the German language - I can skip the "oh" and say "zwanzig fünf" ("twenty five") without anybody thinking it means 25. Although 20-5 doesn't make much sense either.

Difficult century to pronounce. I wonder if the people in 1005 had the same problems
