U2's "One" and Metallica's "One" - Which do you like better?

And why?

 

Metallica's "One". First CD I ever bought was "...And Justice For All" back in 1988, and that song blew me away.

As much as it pains me to say it, I like U2's "One" better. Just the live version, though. I never really cared for the single version that was played on the radio.

 

Metallica's "One" because it is the better song and is not inflicted with Bono's whiny otter like ramblings

 

U2. Easily. So friggin' spiritual and positive. I love Bono's voice and the Edge's signature guitar sound.

 

Metallica's. Easily. Nihilistic and negative. ( And Kirk Hammets' guitar )

 

Though both are excellent, U2's "one" is one of the most beautiful and poetic rock songs ever written. I cherish every chance I have to hear it.

 

I'm a big MetallicA fan, but I loathe One.

I don't like hits, I go for the obscure tracks. (Leper Messiah is my favorite)

 

What about the Beatle's One CD?

 

U2 is mankind's greatest folly, so Metallica wins by default. Their One isn't one of my favourites, but the little acoustic bits are lovely.

!?! You're welcome to your opinion of course, but... Leper Messiah? Surely that's one of their blandest 80's songs?

uh, this is funny, because of side-scrolling I read "the" instead of "their", so I thaught you meant another song with the same name, because I can't imagine anyone finding it bland.

To each their own, I guess.

 

I love both, but I got tired of Kirk's leads so I'll go for U2

 

I'll take Nelly's "Air Force Ones" over those any day...

I must be the weirdest Metallica fan out there.

 

I like the Metallica song more. The problem I have with the U2 song "One" is that it really doesn't fit in with the rest of Achtung Baby, because it's a very slow, peaceful sort of song, and with a few exceptions, the rest of the album is either extremely energetic, or not quite energetic, but not really peaceful (i.e. "Love is Blindness").

 

I lob U2 in with Jet, Coldplay and Powderfinger as being my most hated bands. They're the audio equivelant of watching paint dry.

Whenever I hear one of their songs I change the station.

Now Metallica you can listen to. They're songs are symthonious and gothicly melodic to the point of seperating them into a genre above all other metal. Call of the Ktulu and The Four Horsemen, need I say more?
