Them and their fastness > Lack of talent! And Ibanez guitars, who the hell likes Ibanez guitars? Vai's is so damn muffled too! Going fast every second isn't an excuse for talent >
I always hear about them in guitar magazines and stuff and when I finally give them a chance it's just a bunch of bland crap >

You know what I mean, WOI? Stupid fast pickers! What do people see in these jerkheads? >

Go rent the Ralph Machio movie Crossroads. Steve Vai plays Old Scratch's chanmpion in it and is quite good. I beleive Eddie Van Halen does Machio's guitar work...

Short-Round, you're on crack. Those guys are masters. These days it's not in vogue to play precise and quick, but that's the way guitar was meant to be played.

And I like Ibanez electric guitars.

How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?

Twelve. One to change the bulb and eleven to say they could do it better.

I own the G3 DVD (with Satch, Vai, and Eric Johnson), and they are quite good during the show. Everyone has their own preferences, but I really like their sound and style (especially Joe Satriani).

I was never too big on Satriani, but I do like Steve Vai. I have a few of his albums and they're all good. They're no Master of Puppets, but they're good.

As far as their guitars go, I found the Satriani signature model surprisingly comfortable to play. Normally I'm a Gibson guy myself, but the Satch axe was a good fit.

My Man Let Me Buy You a Round And Not Sell You Short, For You Are Fly, I would not even try to disagree with Playa of your pedigree. Those two fools are most certainly Uncool. What guitarists have managed into my soul to wedge? Slash, Pete Townshend and The Edge.

    Chill

The fact that you don't like them doesn't mean they are untalented...actually they are guitar gods.

Oh and Satriani was Kirk Hammett's guitar teacher. that alone showes his talent.

Vai's playing has always sounded rather sterile to me. The guy has the chops, no doubts there, but I just don't feel anything when he plays. Satch has a bit more emotion, but of the three original G3 guys, I gotta say that I really like Eric Johnson. His technique, his feeling, and his tone work for me way more than the other guys'. But for some really kick-arse guitar stuff, I recommend No Substitutions by Larry Carlton & Steve Lukather (which was mixed, ironically, by Steve Vai). There's some amazing guitar work on that.

As far as Ibanez guitars go, I've never played one that I liked either the feel or tone of. I dig their Soundgear basses, though. heheh....

Ibanez 550 Roadstars are killer. The Satch model is alright, crappy neck though.

Ibanez made decent Gibson copies back in the day. Once I found a '79 Flying V copy, didn't buy it, and I've regretted it ever since. Damn did it sound sweet! I've also played one of their SG-ish 6/12 doublenecks, and it sounded good as well. As far as their superstrats go, I've never been a fan of that body style. If you look real hard though, you CAN find a good-sounding Ibanez. As long as it resembles a Gibson of course!

Give Attitude Song a listen, and then come back here and try and say Vai has no feeling in his work....That's crazy talk.

Joe Satriani is a greater player Shorty. I love his Surfing With An Alien cd...

And didn't he teach Van Halen how to play?

In this day and age of music they are great guitar players. Playing hard and fast is what made Clapton, Hendrix, and Vaughn... the guitar gods that they are.

I also must add that if your impression is that Satriani and Vai only play fast then you're not really giving them the chance you say you are. Heck, half the time I listen to Satriani I wish he'd speed up and do something more flashy. Then I have to tell myself to settle down, and admire the greatness of what he is playing...whatever the speed.

I would like to hear Vai play as fast as he supposedly can, on a non-electrical guitar, then we'll see how fast and precise he is!

Listen to "Friday night in San Fransisco" With Paco de Lucia, Al de Meola and John McLaughlin

    That is so awesome :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Vai's solo album "The Passion & the Warfare" but other than that, I think his work is kind of schitzophrenic. His guitar work on the David Lee Roth albums was only so-so and that Steve Vai Band he started in the mid-90s I thought was horrible. I think maybe Vai is trying to be a little too creative.

As for Satriani, he is a bonafide master. I dont think he tries to be as fast as Vai or as creative as Eddie, but i think he has a style all his own. Kind of like Clapton only with some muscle.

Blasphemy!!! Stone him! Those two guys are great guitarplayers. I admit that I don't listen to them any more but to say that they suck is waaaay out of line.
