Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.0 users...

...have it easier than Adobe Premiere users?

Maybe. Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.0 users must be PC users because the last time I checked Ulead only worked for PCs.

I've upgraded to Version 7 now, but most of what you can see on the Hidden Phantom site was done in MSP 6.

    Have fun.

    EDIT:
I just realized that I know who you are from our emails last week.
    Welcome to the FanFilm boards!
You've come to the right place for info on making a Star Wars fan film.

I know PixelMagic used MSP for some time. Not sure if he still does. One of the established "fathers of fan films" Clay Kronk is also an MSP user. I think there were a few others around as well.

Just for a little more info..
There are two SW related MSP tutorials right here on TFN
Also, click on the Tutorials link in the header bar for this forum. Most information in there is not specific to MSP, but can often be extremely valuable to your overall production process. Always good to check through there before asking a quesion in case it turns out to be a common one. ;)

    Good luck...
    Have fun!

... spent less money that AE users...

Nick, I've been playing with your method and like it much better than Kronke's. Now to try your bluescreening method...

Still going to need to be more specific than that. Most traditional movie effects are possible in MSP. Coupled with a good 3D CGI program, you could do most anything.

What effect in particular do you want to try first? (Best to take 'em one at a time.)

    Have fun.

Ok then ummm... Well on Ryan W website he creates an energy ball. Is there anyway to create that?

Yup. All three are do-able, though I'm not sure of specific tutorials for each.

Cloning is basically just a lot of compositing. Learn your way around compositing and masks in MSP and you're on your way.

Ryan's ball is possible, though the white, tentral-ly core was likely creating using AE's particle generation features, which MSP does not have. You need to create the white circle thingy with an image program or 3d app. Then you can use MSP to overlay, animate and process it to "glow". Basically, learn sabers in MSP, then imagine how to apply that effect to other shapes and animations.

Holograms are also very doable, but require a few steps. I'll see if I can create a tutorial for that tonight or tomorrow.

    Good luck.
    Have fun.

Wow... a completely empty post now has Nick creating an MSP tutorial on holograms. Can you imagine what a post with actual text in it could accomplish?!

    :D
