I couldn't find Dark Horse TPB release dates at either their site or our release thread . . . unless I've gone nuts. Can anyone tell me the release dates for the coming year, or link me to the yellow brick road. I'm looking in particular for The Ahakista Gambit, Legacies and KOTORs. Thanks.
January and February 2008* http://www.darkhorse.com/books/upcoming.php January 16, 2008: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Volume 3--Days of Fear, Nights of Anger TPB February 06, 2008: Star Wars: Legacy Volume 2-Shards February 13, 2008: Star Wars: Rebellion Volume 2-The Ahakista Gambit TPB *Disclaimer
Thanks. Feb for Legacy 2. I'm guessing midyear for Leg 3. I didn't think to check the horse forum, but that would be dangerous.
Ex - they're on the Lit upcoming release date thread as well. In a hideous green color that you have to highlight to read or your eyes will burn off.
Just checked that link. Shards and Ahakista together, this is great. Hey, how come Legacy Broken is getting hardcovered? The softer TPB is still less than a year old? Was this is a good decision?
Can someone tell me if Marvel's RoTJ adaption is reprinted in the big Omnibus editions that DH did of the original series, or was it done seperately? I seem to remember that RoTJ was done as a seperate mini-series but I thought ESB was built into the main series itself. I could be wrong though. If it is in the classic SW phonebook editions, which volume would I find it in?
The only Marvel comics included in the phone book editions are SW #'s 1-107 (which include ANH and TESB adaptations) as well as the 3 Annuals. Rotj was not produced as a part of that series, it was a separate miniseries and thus not included in the "A Long Time Ago..." or "Phone Books editions. It (ROTJ) has been reprinted on it's own by DH in various other TPB's however
The first Legacy hardcover was a star wars shop limited exclusive that came out around C4 about a month or so after the regular TPB hit, so that one was cashing in on the Legacy hype and 30th Anniversary and C4. The upcoming one is merely part of the 30th Anniversary Collection, which will likely have an even more limited print run, but isn't aimed at general consumers or markets so it's it's own thing.
Ah. I wasn't aware the hardcovers were small print runs. Looks like they're hardening a little from all areas of the timeline.
I still find DH's choices for some of the 30th Anniversary collection to be somewhat strange. Some stories are so-so (Jedi vs. Sith), some seemed like minor stories (Jango, Zam, Maul), and some of the reprints still have the regular editions out on bookstore shelves (the Clone Wars and Empire TPBs). I still wish they would've chosen something like Redemption to reprint. I'll probably get the Union (despite the so-so story) and Legacy (despite owning the regular version) 30th Anniversary TPBs just for collecting purposes. A question for those who own any of the 30th Anniversary- how's the quality of the hardcovers, especially compared to the regular TPBs? Any extras compared to the original printings?
The only extras would be the introductions by the authors. But they are a nice quality hardcover. The series was meant to be a combination of rare/OOP titles (TFNU), popular titles (CW4, Darklighter, Legacy) and others to represent the broad scope of DHC SW product and timeline coverage over the years (SOTME, JVS, Union, etc). Thoguh I agree there are a couple notable titles that might have been better choices than some, like Redemption.
Yep. It was decided. You missed that while you were gone. Also, Stephen Colbert is running for president, orange IS the new pink, hardcovers are replacing paperbacks forever, Havac still thinks his promotion to modship is "real", and badmouthing Dark Rendezvous is now punishable by death.
On a different note, does anyone think Dark Horse is doing too much at once? Or is this in fact a sly good thing: artists from different series arcs now have more time to scribe and paint, with longer spans between TPBs. Or am I wrong?
I don't think increasing the timespan between TPB releases affects the production of the individual issues- I believe only the reverse is true.
