You know when Anakin slays the Tuskens, when Yoda is listening to the pain + Qui-Gon i can hear Vader breathing out at the end just before Mace walks in, or is it just me?

    But...

"when Yoda is listening to the pain"

[face_laugh] LMAO! There is just something wrong/funny about that line.

i think its because yoda KNOWS that anakin will turn, so hes sensing it when anakin is having 'darkside' episodes...also, its forshadowing to the audience anakins future, its showing that the deed that anakin just did (the tusken slaughter) is a beginning in his turn to the darkside..it shows that he turned partly because of love....just my opinion, though

It's supposed to have some sort of meaning or else the soundbite wouldn't have been thrown in there But no one knows fore sure if it's something that's foreshadowing.

But yes, I heard it before just after someone yells "Nooooooo!"

It's not Vader breathing, it's the Tuskens making that sound.

"But yes, I heard it before just after someone yells "Nooooooo!"

    That would be Qui-gon. :)
STARLOG: And isnt that Qui-Gon Jinns [Liam Neeson] voice we hear during Anakins attack on the Tusken Raiders who killed Shmi Skywalker [Pernilla August]?

LUCAS: Thats a fan thing, isnt it? Its actually more than that. Its a plot point. All I can really say is that youll find out [more] in the next film. If you thought really hard, you would probably be able to figure it out, but it really is a set-up for the next film. Its connected with the whole ability to be brought into and become a part of the Force, but still be able to retain YOUR ability which, up to this point, Anakin couldnt do. We talked to Liam about [recording new dialogue], and we went back and forth [about it]. This [dialogue] is something we already had [from Menace]. Next time will be a little more complicated.
    - Lucas

"It's not Vader breathing, it's the Tuskens making that sound."

Say WHAT!?! There's breathing and the Tuskens yelling - two different sounds there.

Without spoiling it I have reason to think, after reading GL's comments, that it is actually the future Anakin's voice... just before he turns. That my friends is why we hear the breathing and why Yoda is so attuned to his demise.

Oh! JediKnightOB1, I never thought of that...I think the voice is still Qui-Gons, but what if Yoda didn't see the Tusken Slaughter, but further into the future and saw Anakin turning to Vader? Maybe Obi and Anakin's duel was what he saw, or whatever 'incident' that mangles Anakin?? Oooh, I always assumed he saw the TS...interesting thought!

I don´t think Yoda is seeing the future at all in that scene. He is simply sensing Anakin´s pain and the presence of Qui-Gon.
Never heard the Vader-breath, though. Cool. All I have heard when Mace comes in is the sound of the door.

i think that since quigon was anikans old master, and he thought that anikin was good (which he was at that point) that hes like<"noooooo" because he is sensing the beginning of the turn, and he is upset/realizes yoda was right, and he doesnt want anakin to turn..but i really dont know...maybe the breathin was yoda seein anikin as darth vader in the future, and the Tusken slaughter was the first point in the turn to the dark side...do y'all know what i mean?? cuz i dont think i do

when yoda is sensing the tusken slaughter, and mace asks "what is it?" the music changes to vaders theme (the main part) for about 10 seconds..there isnt any orchestra backing it up, and its slow, but its there...it gives me chills..any one else notice this?

maybe, just maybe...(hear me out) the "NOOO" isnt QUigon...maybe its anakin (later on) maybe its anakin before he becomes vader...and the vader breathing is after he becomes all machin-y. maybe yoda is sensing the future...not the present..hmm..even if it was liam that recorded it, it might not have been QGJ...maybe Lucas wanted it to be an older voice because at the time that anakin would be yelling "NOOO" hes older than he is in AOTC....this is just a theory, though...thoughts??
"Deep in his meditations, peering through the Dark Side, Master Yoda felt a sudden surge of anger, or outrage beyond control. The diminutive Master's eyes popped wide open at the overwhelming strength of that rage.

And then he heard a voice, a familiar voice, crying, "No, Anakin! Don't! No!"

It was Qui-gon. Yoda knew that it was Qui-gon. But Qui-gon was dead, had become one with the Force! One could not retain conciousness and sense of self in that state; one could not speak from beyond the grave.

But Yoda had heard the ghostly call, and in his deep meditative state, his thoughts focused precisely as they had ever been, the Jedi Master knew that he had not been mistaken.
Anakin, too, had heard the voice of Qui-gon, imploring him to restrain himself, to deny the rage. He hadn't recognized it, though, for he wa too full of pain and anger." - AOTC novelization.

INTERIOR: JEDI TEMPLE, YODA'S QUARTERS - LATE AFTERNOON

YODA meditates and suddenly hears a familiar voice, as if
from a great distance. It is the voice of QUI-GON JINN,
    filled with alarm.

    QUI-GON: (V.O.) No, Anakin! No! Don't! No!

MACE WINDU enters the room and sits down. YODA opens his
    eyes and looks to MACE.

    MACE WINDU: What is it?

YODA: Pain. Suffering. Death, I feel. Something terrible
has happened. Young Skywalker is in pain. Terrible pain. - AOTC screenplay.
Ben Burtt
    Editor, sound designer

Q: Do I hear the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn shouting, "Anakin, Anakin... No!", in Yoda's apartment after Anakin attacks the Tusken Raiders?
A: Yes indeed, the voice that Yoda hears is that of Qui-Gon Jinn. - [link=http://www.starwars.com/community/askjc/ben/askjc20020701.html]Ask the JC[/link]

At that very moment, he also heard the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master slain a decade previous. It was impossible for a Jedi to retain his identity after becoming one with the Force, yet he had heard it. - [link=http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/yoda/index.html]OS: Yoda[/link]

"...we cut to Yoda who is meditating and we do hear a voice in there and that voice is that of Qui-Gon Jinn" - AOTC DVD commentary track: George Lucas
Yup, heard it, after having so many people tell me it wasn't in there, chalked it up to heavy breathing in a moment of stress. Thanks for validating.
