Both of them have similar stories. Grievous was meant to foreshadow Vader in a way, as a cyborg that is Darth Sidious' puppet. They were both great warriors that suffered an unfortunate accident and they are both Jedi killers that strike fear into their enemies. Vader kills his own officers and Grievous kills his own droids (and sometimes Neimoidian crew). They both despise Kenobi as well. This will also be a good opportunity to explore the droid general's backstory and a pleasing portrayal of Grievous for his fans. Showing how Grievous became who he is the right way to go because evil isn't born, it's made. And having Vader and Grievous in the same movie is killing two birds with one stone. And with the expanded universe no longer canon, think of the possibilities. It could even help bridge the gap between episodes 6 and 7, having Luke find out about his father, while a son of Grievous finds out his father's story and they would meet at the end. This could increase Grievous' popularity and even make his tale a tragic one, cutting back between the tales of the chosen one and the Kaleesh warlord. They both have similar stories, having lose their love at one point and even adopting a new name. Both tales are tragic and will end with Grievous talking to Sidious on Utapau and Vader meeting Sidious over Endor. This could shine a new light over the beloved villains of Star Wars.

I recently said that I would watch virtually any Star Wars spin-off. But a film about Grievous' backstory? Red Box, or never. Can't stand this piece of merchandise.

Grievous is my favourite star wars villain so I'd love to see more of him- maybe there could be an imperial secret project to create grievous 2.O?

To me Grievous is the PT's Boba Fett:p

Thumbs up. Grievous is a fantastic villain, whose backstory is really awesome.

Forget Vader, let's see a spinoff that gives us General Mace Windu in an epic Clone Wars battle with Grievous.

I'd find it hard to get excited over a Grevous spin-off. A Vader one on the other hand...

Vader and Grievous in the same movie? You are aware that Grievous is dead before Vader was named? Or are you proposing a Godfather 2 style time jump movie telling both tales?

I think that'd be awesome. Grievous is a great character in my eyes, with an interesting past. I'd like to see a spin off focusing on his backstory, how he came to be a cyborg. Lair of Grievous was a great episode of TCW and is love to see him reflect on his past.

I'm wondering who could play Darth Vader in a spinoff movie. It would need to be a pretty tall guy.

Or would it be two actors, one for "maskless" scenes and one for the rest?

I think Daniel Cudmore would be a typical Hollywood choice, he looked pretty good as Colossus, he has the right size and build for Vader.

It would have to be one or the other, and Vader already had his movies, AOTC, ROTS, and he was really prominent in ESB. He's going to be popping up in everything they can possibly fit him into (e.g. Rebels), so let's not overdo it.

I don't favor a Grievous spinoff either really, but it might be interesting to have him pop up as a Jedi killer in some other spinoff, or to have his back story mixed into another spinoff in some way. He was supposed to have killed a lot of lesser Jedi.

More importantly, who will provide his voice if James Earl Jones won't (or can't)?

I'm more interested in the guy who does the physical part, because we already know that Jones would provide the voice. He's done so Rebels, so I have no doubt he'd do it for a movie. The man who dons the suit is more of a mystery.

James is up there in age, that's all. Just wondering if there's anyone in the world that can replicate his incredibly distinct voice. With digital enhancement, perhaps!

I just hope Matt Sloan doesn't get the part, his voice doesn't quite convince me.

In an ideal world where the prequels were good and we weren't already oversaturated with Star Wars **** some characters could have their own good spin-off films.

I'm not just saying that to bash the prequels, it's just if we were to make a film about say, Mace Windu, it wouldn't be that great because the characters in the PT for the most part weren't written to have that much emotional depth. In the alternate version of the prequels I would make, Windu's character would make for an interesting stand-alone film. (in the alternate universe in my head, Windu is part of the main cast and is the symbol of the moral decay of the Republic, beginning as the ideal master-Jedi but becoming stressed to the point of insanity and becoming more morally flexible. I guess we kind of see this when he wants to kill Palpatine).

I think Vader would actually make a good standalone film (despite being the main character of the entire story basically) but we've already been oversaturated between EU stuff, Clone Wars, Rebels, a bunch of mostly pointless spin-offs. A film set between the PT and OT where we see how he deals with his grief and begins to accept his role could be interesting, but it'd also basically just be two hours of depression. Maybe if instead of just him, it's him and another character. Like The Force Unleashed kind of.

A stand alone film set before and during the PT about Palpatine and Darth Plagueis (forgot spelling LOL) could be a really good one too but that's one of those things where it's like, do I really want to see that or would I rather leave it up to my imagination?

edit: I forgot which thread I was in lol please forgive me for going slightly off topic.

Grievous film would be lame tbh. that entire character, while he is cool to play as in Battlefront II, is basically just unneeded filler.

The common movie goer isn't oversaturated with Vader on screen, and that's the only group that counts. That group hasn't seen him for a long, long time. But yes, he'd need a sidekick, someone who is less of a straight man.

No to Vader. A Vader film wouldn't be a spinoff in any sense of the word.

Grievous could be cool, I guess, but as I said before I'm hesitant about the idea of spinoffs based off of established characters that aren't Obi-Wan. I'd rather see them go new places and do new things.

I predict (and hope) that we will never see anymore of Grievous again.
