did vader have any "friends" in the empire? was there any officers that he liked? or at least talked to? i read that he tought one how to use a lightsaber but forgot who it was
I dont thinks so, he has so much hatred for himself, and everyone else. His hate is all thats keeping him alive.
i read that he tought one how to use a lightsaber but forgot who it was It was Piett. That's why he's cool.
Yeah, I don't think he really has any friends. All the Imperial ships Vader frequents are like a machine to him, and Vader is just there as the roaring engine of the machine instilling fear in everyone to make sure everything is moving along robotically. It's interesting how when Vader is dying, everybody else is just running past him as if he is just another part of the failing ship.
Here you can find it in the masters own words. Sometimes really funny. http://darthside.blogspot.com/ [http://darthside.blogspot.com//link]
Woah, woah, woah, woah, WHAT? What kind of EU claptrap is that? Vader did not teach Piett to use a lightsaber. Peitt is cool because he's the cream of the imperial officer corp Vader knows it, and that is why he doesn't kill him when he loses the Falcon at the end of ESB. Vader taught Piett how to use a lightsaber: newly crowned REASON #1 - Why I hate the EU.
where is that supposed to be in? I never heard of it. It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. And CUSWE doesn't mention anything of the sort either. so I think you can calm down, my friend, and find another reason to hate EU...
that doesn't count as a source. neither is secondary literature very satisfying. if it's not in a story, it doesn't even matter and can remain a throw-away sentence. Sidious wearing fluffy slippers has more evidence than this one
I was kinda hoping in LOE they'd catch him on the loo reading a newspaper As for the EU, remember there are people on here (like myself) who see the EU as part of a much larger picture. Though Piett with a lightsaber seems to be pushing it a little.
I don't think anybody in the empire had real friends. Ussualy in movies the bad guys don't have real friends. You know how the bad guys always turn on each other.
Tarkin and Vader were not "friends." In the book that came with the Masterpiece Darth Vader set a few years ago, it described their relationship as "one of a grudging amount of respect for each other, but neither liked nor trusted the other."
The dark side of the force is selfish, there is little room for friends. Palpatine and Tarkin could be considered as friends although I think it was more on a colleague basis.
I'd say the closest Vader had to any friends would probably be one or two people he would have some respect for. I can't imagine him actually liking anyone...
Vader and Bast were friends [image=http://www.pilvikaupunki.net/galleria/albums/userpics/normal_vader_bast.jpg] [image=http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/zs/swhs/bast5.jpg] In a deleted ANH scene they complain about Tarkin and in The Holiday Special he is Vader's right hand man
