[Vaguely Unsettling] Real Baby or Fake Baby?!! --Image Heavy

So there's this company out there that makes incredibly lifelike dolls, apparently for people who want babies that don't eat, don't move, don't breathe, and don't rot. I expect it saves them on the formaldehyde.

Anyway--some of the fake babies are pretty convincing, so I figured I'd put them up against pictures of real babies, and let people guess which is which.

OMG, that's uncanny!!

 

It kinda helps that the fake pictures are all of the same doll (or at least looks like it).


The eyes are telling. Creepy as hell.

 

Fascinating and yet revolting at the same time. I can only imagine why someone would want one...

 

I collect dolls and I would love one. The workmanship that goes into these dolls is amazing. I wouldn't go around carrying one in a snuggly unless it was just to mess with people.

 

now i feel kinda guilty. as i said, i had heard about these types of dolls before, so awhile back i had browsed through some of the sites that make them and seen some pics. while i don't know for sure if i've seen those particular pics before, i did know the general "look" the fake dolls usually had. but i didn't like research my answers for this or anything. i just quickly went down the list and guessed based on what i knew the dolls usually look like.

 

Hehehe, I should so buy one and "surprise" my relatives this Christmas

 

They aren't, really . . . I'm actually surprised so many people pegged Baby F as a fake, since it's a fairly realistic impression of a preemie. Maybe I should have picked the top picture of her ad page, where she looks the most thin and undersized: Baby Marnie. Who fakes that . . . ?

It's true that pretty much all the dolls are Caucasian female newborns, and you could eliminate some of the real babies based on that.

P.S.--no offense meant to Cathy or anyone else who admires these dolls as pieces of workmanship--they are indeed spookily real!
