How many different versions of the x-wing are there and what is the current one? Is there any place on the web where you can see the different versions? I just purchased hallmark x-wing ornament on ebay and I strongly recommemd acqiuring it.

Apparently the designers/NJO authors/NJO editors/all of the above can't count.

No wonder they didn't give lengths on Yuuzhan Vong ships in the NJO.

XJ2 probably just wasn't mentioned, or maybe it was unsuccessful.

    The original T-65C-A2 X-wing
    The T-65D-A1 astromech-less X-wing (New Rebellion)
The T-65A3, improved shields with laser accuracy and power (Onslaught)
The T-65XJ, triple torp launchers, void-proof shields, etc (Vector Prime)
The T-65XJ3, better than above (SBS)

As you can see, there are three versions of the A-series X-wing: A1, A2 and A3.

    X-wing Enhanced

Haha, it sounds like some sort of cheap soda rip-off, like those "Pepsi: Code Red" and "Sprite: Wild Tropical"

I don't know why, but it just reminded me of that.

There's also the recon X-wing, T-65R. That about sums it up.

You see any other versions for A-wings and such. The B-wing has a second one, the Expanded model, bu that's it.

and there's the iX-Wing.. which comes with a transparent case and customizable colors for the trim.

    Diet X-wing with Lemon.

most of the toy and model x-wings we see are based on the standard T-65 X-Wing seen in the classic trilogy.

That would be the T-65D which has been mentioned a couple of times. Excellence made a point of mentioning it had no astromech and appeared in The New Rebellion.

I seem to recall mention of the T-65B in early material, possibly the Technical Journal . . . and there's the TX-65, the two seat trainer from the Black Fleet Crisis.

There are also two versions of the Recon-X - one that has weapons, and one without IIRC.

IIRC, there were t-65A & B models as well.... wedge antilles's 'craft of choice' in certain encylopedias is the t-65B.

"As you can see, there are three versions of the A-series X-wing: A1, A2 and A3"
wouldn't that mean that the t-65C would qualify as an a-series x-wing, as it's an A2? and the t-65D would be an A-series x-wing, too, as it's an t-65D A1.
seems to me that the -A# is just a follow-up term to whatever letter series (B, C, D) there is. i'm not sure, though....

You're right. I omitted the training X-wing. After all, if Tycho can fly a Headhunter trainer in Rogue Squadron, why not for an X-wing?

The T-65B was used by Luke, Wedge, and Biggs during the Battle of Yavin. And Luke and Wedge appear to have continued using the B variant for quite some time after Yavin. In fact B variant was still a mainstay of the NR fleet at least through Dark Empire.

    "

perhaps the training x-wing was only introduced after the rogue squadron novels...shortly before the black fleet crisis, where they are first mentioned, perhaps?
or maybe general salm didn't want tycho getting his hands on anything as valuable as a training x-wing.... a z-95, as widespread & inexpensive as it is, would have suited his purposes better.

is there any actual mention of the B-version being in use through the early post-endor days? yeah, i know pilots like wedge kept his B-model for quite some time, but perhaps they went thru modifications which bumped them up to C-class standards?

Well, the C variant was on the scene prior to the Battle of Yavin since the Imperial Technical Starship Report refers to the X-wing as the T-65C A2 X-wing. The model of the X-wing refered to in the Dark Empire Sourcebook is the T-65B. It would have been mentioned that they were Cs rather than Bs, but the Galactic Civil War stats for the T-65B are exactly the same as the DE stats for a T-65B.

I have found some intresting differences between the T65B and T-65C using the X-wing strategy guide and the Behind the Magic vehicle demo.

    Craft: Incom T-65B X-wing
    Designation: Space Superiority Fighter
Crew: 1 Pilot and 1 astromech
    Speed Rating: 80 MGLT
    Hyperdrive: Class I Koensayr R300-H
    Powerplant: Novaldex 04-Z
Weapons:4 Taim & Bak KX9 laser cannons, 2 Krupx MG7 proton Torpedo launchers

    Craft: Incom T-65C A2 X-wing
    Designation: Space Superiority Fighter
Crew: 1 Pilot and 1 astromech
    Speed Rating: 100 MGLT
    Hyperdrive: Class I Incom GBk-585
    Powerplant: Novaldex O4-Z
Weapons:4 Taim & Bak IX9 laser cannons, 2 Krupx MG7 proton Torpedo launchers

Then by RoTJ the T-65C has been modified again so that you have the T-65C-A2/4.8 The difference between the A2 and the A2/4.8 appears merely to be a return to the KX9 lasers of the T-65B.

Isn't there also the Tandem? It is a X-Wing modified to be a bomber, I believe.
