Vima Da-Boda

I was thinking the other day (shock, horror ! ) and i came up with an idea about Vima Da-Boda ;

Basically, we know that Vima becomes a shrivelling crone who somehow has lost a lot of her Force knowledge and capabilities. She was also in Kessel at some point and gave Kyp some pointers about the Force. She was on Nar Shaddaa in "The Hutt Gambit" and back on Nar Shaddaa in "Dark Empire"

My theory is that some time on Nar Shaddaa after the HST, Vima was arrested by authorities for over-use of illegal spice (any sort of quality of ryll and/or glitterslim, possibly a combination of both). She's been a spice-addict for a while, as she uses it to escape her past and the long use of questionable-quality spice has deformed her mentally and physically, a terrible price to pay for extended life. She was picked up in a drug bust with her Black Sun dealers, and Black Sun couldn't be bothered to try and spring low-life street trash and so she was sent to Kessel to work in the spice mines. Encountering the Force-sensitive Kyp reminded her of the past she buried (as it did with Leia) and she taught him some use of the Force. However, she was selected by the NR as they considered her a more-or-less harmless part of Black Sun to release, and was sent to Coruscant 3 years after Endor.

Once there, she shunned her fellow ex-inmates and melded into the underlayer of Coruscant, using her well-honed skills to disappear. She waited in the lower levels until the liberation of Coruscant, but was unable to satisfy her spice addiction, so she used her recently-rediscovered Force skills to trick the NR officials into allowing her to board an out-going ship and eventually made her way back to Nar Shaddaa, where the continued use of spice made her forget again, until Leia encounters her.

What do you guys think ? Also, do you think Vima is still alive ?

 

Interesting theory. Makes sense to me. And I sure hope she's not still alive. Although in the New Essential Guide to Characters (I believe) it says she taught at Luke's Jedi Academy, though I don't see how that's possible as I've never found her in any post-Empire's End EU material. Gosh, I hope she's dead.

 

Vima later reappeared some point after Empire's End, and joined the jedi academy as a teacher(see Guide to Star Wars 3rd edition, and NEGTC). As for after that, if she is still alive, no clue.

As for why she was taken to kessel? That may have been covered already in the JAT sourcebook, but I don't really know.

I didn't recall that she was in the JAT, but since I DO have the JAT Sourcebook, I'll take a look in a little bit and see if it says anything.

 

She's not in the Jedi Academy Trilogy, the sourcebook, or in any of the books that are post Empire's End.

 

Ah, okay. Thanks for saving me the time of going line-by-line through the Sourcebook and getting all frustrated when I can't find her.
