    Hello,

Is there a way to change the voice of someone wearing a Stormtrooper helmet? The Hyperdyne one sounds great but it cost 4 times more than the helmet, the Rom/FX one is popular but it sounds like crap and it cost 2 times more than the helmet. Is there something cheaper that I can buy in a store like Radio Shack just to change my voice to make it sound like a Stormtrooper? No need for buttons or special effects laser sounds...

    Thanks.

And if all else doesn't appeal to you, you can try Cheap assed DIY all you would probably need is a cheap microphone piece wired to a low quality speaker or two that is fitted into your helmet, and that should give you the right effect.
However you may need help from other star wars electronic know it alls and researching electronics yourself to add also a discreet button so you can press it when using the voice modulator, because afterall you do not want your breathing being amplified by a speaker.

It's still kinda expensive for a one-time Halloween joke.

Well your the one who asked!
if their all too expensive, the most cost effective suggestion i can recommend is taping some tin foil over your mouth, that should give you a static cackling kind of voice.

There are cheaper kinds of "Voice Amplifiers" that you could get.

Then blow in the mic to get the "static burst" after you have talked.

I am also looking for a voice changer setup for my Stealthtrooper kit, but it needs to be a bit more permanent, but still needs to be cheap.

Anyone know what bits i would need to put together a simple amplified mic and spekaer rig?

Cheap and costuming rarely, if ever, go hand in hand. Sorry, but that's pretty much the way it is --especially if you want to do it right.

Now, if it's just a cheapo Halloween thingy or one time deal, there are plenty of toy products on the market. You just have to look.
