I did not and will try avoid watching the new Aquaman trailer, but my social media feed is getting all kinds of reactions.

 

If I could like this twice I would.

You mean I’m not the only one who likes AOTC? I mean I love it.

That was awesome footage. That couldn’t have been a real tracking shot in the chase sequence.

Why oh why in JL did WB reduce the battle with Steppenwolf in which Zeus and the gods have dialogue? Just to get a 2-hour running time and bonuses? Amazonians and Atlantans together. Oh, that would be a helluva concept in its own right.

I wonder if that's a message-by-proxy to all of the fans who thought the first trailer looked too try hard in the dark, edgy, angsty department?

 

How does that look any better than our initial assessment though?

 

James Gunn in Talks to Write and Possibly Direct ‘Suicide Squad 2

 

It totally makes sense for DC/WB to go after Gunn and to have him write and direct Suicide Squad 2; especially since many considered Suicide Squad DC's answer to Guardians of the Galaxy, right down to the retro pop music sound track.

I would think Gunn would revamp the cast and probably get rid of Captain Boomerang and Rick Flag.

Suicide Squad did wonderfully well at the box office, despite a six week poorly developed and conceived script, as well as being edited by a trailer company. I imagine Gunn will do a magnificent job with this franchise should WB be able to sign him.

 

Apparently it's not actually Suicide Squad 2, but a different DC project. Pretty cool either way.

 

On the other hand, THR seems to be putting "sequel" in quotation marks, so maybe it's still Suicide Squad based, but set in the Joaquin Phoenix DC Universe or something.

 

It seems it's an actual, honest-to-god Suicide Squad movie, just not a sequel to the first film, i.e. it won't be following on from whatever that film's story was (I'm not sure it actually had one) and it's under no obligation to use the same cast and/or characters.

 

So clearly one member of the cast of GotG is loyal enough to Gunn to follow him where he goes? Bodes well.
