I’m really looking forward to Joker. Either it or Birds of Prey or both are supposed to be R?

This COIE looks interesting. And Kevin Conroy is one of my favorite Batmans. I never saw Brandon Routh. It’ll be interesting.

Kevin Smith has a good description of Jim Lee’s storyboards for the JL Trilogy. When Alfred says than God you’re here, there’re flashing green lights as there’s a Green Lantern he’s talking to. At the end the League and Darkseid get glances of each other in the Boombox.

JL2 goes cosmic as the League and Corps it’s team up to defeat Darkseid in Apokolips. They fail and JL 3 begins eight the Knightmare having taken place. I believe Batman sacrifices himself to carry the day.

setting up for more ww animated movies, it seems like, by re-telling the origin. maybe even a series. there was an animated ww film in 09 (i believe) without much fanfare - gal's changed the landscape a bit since then. ww has a good history in animation - was one of the stronger characters on the jl series - watch "the savage time" if you have not.

Eh. I'll either rent it from Redbox (if available) or borrow from my library; but I definitely prefer the 2009 origin movie; which I own on Blu-ray and digital. The story and dialogue were superb. It's easily among my favorite DC animated movies.

Well that Bloodlines looks like it's going to be a retcon of her origin story, right?

not so much a retcon as a retelling in the new 52/rebirth universe in which most of their animated films now take place.

a parallel origin is closer to how i'd describe it. it's cool that you appreciate the '09 film, though - wonder woman and the two green lantern films are rarely shown much appreciation from that era of dc animated works, but i thought they were all solid efforts.

When the Gal Gadot movie came out, there were quite a handful of people who had compared it to the 2009 film. Especially the portrayal of Ares in both films. It's like night and day when you compare Alfred Molina's in the '09 movie to David Thelwis' in the live action film.

I can't watch the 2009 Wonder Woman animated film because of it still be sexist, which is really tone deaf to the character of Wonder Woman. What I mean by that is, you can't have Steve Trevor saving Wonder Woman and carrying her to the hospital. It's really bad form, and it definitely wouldn't fly in the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman film.

As for the trailer for Bloodlines... I like it. It features the more well known rogues associated with Wonder Woman; although I'm not digging the artistic interpretation of Cheetah. I thought it would be following the New52 Wonder Woman comics were the big bad was
    The First Born
, but I was watching a "behind the scenes" look at this film on YouTube and they went in a different direction. Bloodlines better not have Steve saving Wonder Woman and carrying her off to the hospital. I'm happy that Rosario Dawson is still voicing Wonder Woman and they kept the continuity of her costume the same with the other DC animated films since Justice League War.

As I’m still fairly new to comics as an adult, and DC doesn’t have Marvel Unlimited, I have only begun to get into DC comics. My DC experience is so far fairly limited to the movies. And I did watch the original Batman TV series as a kid, Super Friends, Wonder Woman with Linda Carter, Super Boy, Lois and Clark, and the first few seasons of Smallville. And I did read The Dark Knight Returns when it first came out. Watched all 5 seasons of Gotham and am watching the first seasons of Green Arrow and The Flash. And then there Batman animated both TV and movie/video and 2 Green Lantern animated features and Justice League: War (twice).

So, I found this to guide me for comics. The premise is it would take forever to start with the original Superman and get to the present. It’s better to start with the present and work backwards. Anyone agree/disagree?

So far I’ve started and finished with Superman: Lois and Clark and Superman: Final Days, and now I’m starting Superman Vol. 1 : Son of Superman.

You don't subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the Snyder cut is basically an entirely different movie that features Superman as the villain?

    Yes, that's a real thing.

I think in the Synder version Supes is crazier for longer than the Whedon one (I believe I read he doesn't talk until the end) and he's probably in that black resurrection suit. But yeah, Sequel bait and Steppenwolf is just the Synder version. If into the archives you go, only pain you will find.

Eh, I don't think it's that bad a deal breaker since Gail Simone co-wrote the story and Lauren Montgomery directed it.

That doesn't exactly fit in with what's in the the trailers and reports that Clark has to readjust to being alive again, and there were additional scenes in the Kent farm where he's doing so. Also, Snyder himself said that he wasn't intending to Clark wear the black suit. He had put it in there to make the audience wonder how he would present himself to the world again. Be it the black suit, one of the colonist suits or a copy of his colorful suit.

If you want the quick and easy origin for Superman, start with "Secret Origin" for the Post Crisis Superman as that is his origin that's still being used. The New 52 version you need to get "Superman And The Men Of Steel", "Bulletproof" and "End Of Days". Reading Action Comics Annual #10 (2007) and Action Comics #850, will add to your experience as they fill in some extra details. Though before you read "Son Of Superman", you need to read "Path Of Doom" as it takes place first.

Beyond that, it would take a while to get through Superman's 33 year history in the Post Crisis era, some of which has been taken up by the New 52 era. So much of the Post Crisis era tied together and a lot of world building took place between 86 and 99, which is part of the reason "Rebirth" and "Doomsday Clock" has happened/is happening. If you've got other questions, you can bring them up in the comic thread and I'll help you out. Also, here's a list of Post Crisis stories that are in trade, just to give you an idea of why that first link exists.

I have whenever I watched the film, but I don't feel like I'm watching the film but rather watching clips from YouTube.

That's a very ambitious and time consuming pursuit, and I sincerely with you good luck. For me, when I got back into reading comics, I started with the more acclaimed Superman stories, which was Grant Morrison's All Star Superman. I would research other stories and go from there.

I do. Since Joss Whedon was brought on board and Snyder left the Justice League film, I followed the behind the scenes news and rumors and of course any comments Snyder made since leaving the project. To me, it's like following and hearing the stories behind Tim Burton's Superman Lives and John Trank's Fant4stic.

Basic cable is finally showing Wonder Woman. I liked the 15 minutes I saw toward the end.

Looking forward to seeing the whole movie soon.

The CGI in the final fight at the end of Wonder Woman always takes me out of the film for a bit. That being said, I adore Wonder Woman and how Patty Jenkins drew alot of inspiration from Dick Donner's Superman flicks as it really is reflected in the film.

And since Diana's bracelets can absorb and then redistribute lightning, I'm thinking she can beat Thor. Maybe not Infinity War/Stormbreaker Thor, but probably pre-Infinity War Thor.

Mjolnir could absorb or deflect Diana's use of lightning, thus giving Thor an advantage against Diana. Her only real chance would be to take Mjolnir or Stormbreaker from him and use it against him.

Actually, it was on TNT a few months ago, for one showing while it was still on HBO. But given that "Aquaman" is debuting on HBO this Saturday, that's probably why it is on again. Same with "Suicide Squad" and "Batman Vs Superman".

This is probably a stupid question, but does HBO have exclusive Cable rights to the DC movies?

HBO is connected to Warner Brothers, which in turn owns DC. Ergo, HBO always gets first rights to WB films and by extension, anything produced by DC. But the animated films are a different lot as they've been on Cartoon Network and Encore. "Justice League: The New Frontier" was on Encore six or seven years ago. In 2015 and 2016, HBO had "Batman: Year One", "All Star Superman", "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies", "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse", "Batman: Under The Red Hood", "Justice League: Doom" and "The Dark Knight Returns" volumes one and two. SyFy, which is not connected to Time Warner, had "Superman: Doomsday", "Superman: Unbound" and "All Star Superman" on their prior to the debut of "Krypton".

Yeah I was just referring to the live action movies. I know I've seen that HBO's had Man of Steel, BvS, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and soon Aquaman.

Cable is a Marvel property via formerly 20th Century Fox though. So the Cable rights now sit with Disney.
