Birds of Prey [and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn], is a far worse title than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice because the title really doesn't describe the plot of the film or prominently feature the "Birds of Prey." The Harley Quinn animated series does a far better job of Harley Quinn's struggles to free herself from being the Joker's love interest; not just Joker himself, but also how the heroes and villains of the DC Universe view Harley only as the Joker's sidekick.

Speaking of which, I can't wait for season three of Harley Quinn. <seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on HBO Max now. Sign up today! :p>

I liked the show better than the movie... but I was also primed to leave the movie at least somewhat cold just because I’m a fan of Cassandra Cain, and while the young actress in the film did a good job with her role, it acted as a constant reminder to me of how they could have been using the actual character instead. Something similar applies to whenever the Birds themselves start to get interesting, as I often find myself thinking neither they nor Harley really need the other, and both are a little bit held back by the attempt to merge them.

I still liked the movie for an afternoon film, mind you - it has a ferociously strong cast and excellent cinematography and a madcap feel to it.

I just feel they maybe could have used their money better making two films: a BOP film with *a* Batgirl (Cass or Babs, either way, and both would have been perfection) and either just a Harley Quinn solo, or Gotham City Sirens with Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

HQ: BOP feels like it’s basically a better conceptualization of the thoughts behind BvS, since I think the creators had a stronger vision for their tone and style... but still limited a bit because it’s twin concepts are a bit more at odds with each other.

That does remind that David Ayer was in the works of making a Gotham City Sirens film, but I heard it was too similar to Birds of Prey and was put "on pause." I think it's safe to say the his version of Gotham City Sirens is scrapped.

I think James Gunn's The Suicide Squad should be able to rehab Harley Quinn and perhaps lead to a solo film, if not, something close to the Harley Quinn animated series.

Zack Snyder told Esquire that he had plans for Barbara Gordon in his Snyderverse:
I could see why WB would not want to continue with the Synderverse, as it would kill off Bruce Wayne and have the spawn of Superman to deal with. The DC/CW Arrowverse already has a married and father of two Superman, it's doing very well.

I’d take a Rick Famuyiwa Cyborg film in a heartbeat too.

This is the 21st century, the Snyder Cut could’ve made $3 billion in the Before Times and it’d still be yesterday’s news within a week.

WB spent $70 million on a director's cut of a 4-year-old film in order to help shore up a streaming platform that had a rocky launch and they want to draw attention away from it. Sure.

I still like the version of BvS I pitched in the change one letter in a movie title thread.

Batman v Superman: Dan of Justice
With Batman and Superman locked in an endless battle, a new hero must arise.

My favourite thing about this poser is how unreasonably happy Harley looks with the rocket launcher. Hopefully it's based on a frame from the movie where she's way excited she just blew something up.

Honestly, I'm down for anything Suicide Squad and James Gunn but whatever he can do with Margot Robbie as Harley is basically my main attraction. Even that one shot of her chewing on the apple in the promo teaser was just gold.

I really liked Birds of Prey but it's basically the best stuff was Robbie/Harley>McGreggor/Black Mask>Winstead being an totally awkward huntress "It's a crossbow, not a %@$% bow and arrow, I'm not twelve!">Harley's Sandwhich>Kinda everything else.

Of course Snyder would have killed her off horribly in the Knightmare scene. She's too much fun, I guess (although Flash is still pretty fun in any cut of the movie, more fun in Whedon though)

semi-related, this was another good comparison video between the two cuts

I do still like the Whedon version for being zippier, Snyder is literally dragging out every damn shot. Colour tone/aspect ratio for Snyder definitely wins although it both kinda fit each movies' respective tone but Whedon is admittedly more crowbarred into being zany/funny.

    Also, semi-semi-related dopey but amusing

Birds of Prey is one of the two DCEU movies that totally works for me. Half the cast feels disconnected from the comic versions I like so much and yet I just don't care too much because the movie itself just clicks for the most part. Plus honestly it's just fun. It's a movie I can throw in and just enjoy any time. Wish I could get some followups to it but that seems unlikely given the box office. So when the inevitable Harley/Ivy or GCS movie happens, all I ask... don't give it to James Gunn or David Ayer.

WB is a divided house. The Snyder Cut was greenlit in spite of them, AT&T had to overrule them.
