Yeah, he can be a perfectly nice person who happens to make ****ty films, those things are not mutually exclusive.

I don't give Snyder much credit for disavowing his alt-right/fringe fans only after they successfully helped to campaign for his cut and he got what he wanted from them and had no use for them. They got used lol.
I would have given him credit if he had said something when all this clusterfreak started but than he wouldn't have gotten his cut. He needed them to campaign for him.

I was luckily enough to run into Zack Snyder on the convention floor at SDCC in 2015 (IIRC) and asked if for a selfie. He kindly agreed to do so.

As for distancing himself from Geeks and Gamers, I view it as a legal disclaimer as well as a PR disclaimer. I watched the stream when Zack distance himself from Geeks and Gamers and he noted that their logo was on the donate webpage and wanted it to be clear his organization and HBO were not affiliated with Geeks and Gamers. And coming off the shooting at the Asian massage parlors in Georgia, Zack stated "there's no room for hate," especially being a father of Asian kids.

I don't know. He says "How am I supposed to introduce six characters and an alien with potential for world domination in two hours? " in this article here.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. That vlog I'm making, it's supposed to be 20 minutes; my first rough cut is approaching 40 minutes, and I just came up with a new scene yesterday. As I wrote it down I was already thinking "this really should be cut", but when you're in love with a project, you just can't stop. You keep piling, thinking you'll cut the chaff later. I'd assume that's what this guy had, and then he had that awful tragedy so he never got around to the chaff.

I honestly think in the end Zack Snyder's Justice League is an assembly cut with some extra after the fact Knightmare and Martian Manhutner thrown in. I think he would have trimmed it down if all of the Unpleasantness hadn't happened. (even Snyder is quoting saying his "theatrical cut" is purely theoretical at this point) While I do think the Whedon version is better (the action scenes being trimmed down to not every damn second helps a lot), he added too much of his own spin and new scenes (everyone hanging around on the jet just talkin bout stuff! That freakin' family nobody cares about. Why reshoot Clark and Lois' farm reunion, why?) when what he should have done is keep in great stuff like Cyborg's origin story and Flash's bigtime hero finale moment. I mean, what's with the whole Parademons feeding on Fear and turning on Steppenwolf? (keep in some quip inserts though, Aquaman on the lasso, "Save one person", by all means)

I do think the Age of Heroes in Snyder's cut was an after the fact by making is Darkseid centric, I'd bet folding money that it was always meant to be Steppenwolf as it is in the theatrical cut. But the scene is way better with Darkseid though.

He’s a giant, super-powered alien starfish who can control people by attaching starfishes to their faces. He’s notable for being the villain from the very first Justice League of America story back in 1960 (though the League was already established and had their origin told later, so he’s not the “first” villain they ever fought. Comic books.).

Because if I were making up something called Starro it would probably wind up being something closer to Solaris the Tyrant Sun, and there would be a lengthy joke about ritual sacrifices to Lovecraftian entities. Obviously.

I would make ritual sacrifices to Starro, to be fair.

I was excited for The Suicide Squad because it is a James Gunn movie, and I became enamored by all of the possibilities of what it could be once I learned that Starro would be in it. Between Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the grotesque mind controlling aliens in Slither, there's honestly no person I see being better to bring Starro to life than Gunn – and on top of all of that, everything else about the movie looks like a blast, too!

That first issue is quite fun.
    Great cover! Starro is neat.

I've got the SHOWCASE presents Justice League of America volume 1 which collects The Brave and the Bold #28-30, Mystery In Space #75, and Justice League of America #1-16.

Sadly, it's not in color, but it's an economical way to read all of the stories for a very low price; I paid about $15 for my copy new.

Shut up and say the lines.

Tuesday, April 6, alleging that the Firefly creator “threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins.” Whedon was hired to take over for Zack Snyder, who stepped away from the production after the death of his daughter in March 2017. However, Gadot, 35, reportedly “had multiple concerns” with Whedon’s additions to the script.

Per the outlet, the Israel native thought the portrayal of her character in Justice League was “more aggressive” than in 2017’s Wonder Woman, making it difficult for “the character [to] flow from one movie to the next.” Whedon allegedly told the Critics’ Choice nominee to “shut up and say the lines,” threatening to “make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.”

Those Showcase collections are terrific; my old local library had an ample supply of them, which is how I first read a lot of classic Silver Age Superman and Green Lantern comics. These days I will tend to favor color collections since my finances are more forgiving, but honestly there's still a certain value in being allowed to appreciate the ink work on its own merits.

Wasn't Zack’s original WWI photo of Diana of her posing while holding a decapitated head? ;)

(also how she finishes off Steppy in the Snyder Cut as well)

I mean, it seems somewhat unreasonable to so heavily resist including your character's catch phrase in the first place, but how they went about rubbing it in after he listened to reason is unprofessional.

I mean, I think that's fair. Screaming "booyah!" was pretty exclusive to the Teen Titans cartoon, which was a very different version of Cyborg than the one from the comics. Honestly, Cyborg was pretty accurately adapted overall in the Snyder Cut. I don't think his resistance, especially when feeling like Whedon was trying to reduce his character to a cartoon-inspired meme, is unfounded.

oh , I didn't realise it was already his catchphrase , I thought they'd just sprung it on him for the movie .
Well - suck it up , they gotta sell those action figures.

Right, but Cyborg as a character is mostly known through that series (and spin-off), as far as mainstream awareness goes. Even if you're focusing mostly on a comics-centric adaptation, working a catch phrase in from the most well-known version(s) of the character for a single moment isn't just something out of the ordinary, it's pretty much expected by the audience.
