I saw it before it was removed. What I would like to see is

Black Adam say, "No one can stop me.", only for Clark to hit him and say....

It's also simultaneously a prequel to Gotham, somehow.

Pretty big piece on DC's cinematic future in The Hollywood Reporter, but here are the bullet points:
    • James Gunn has one or two "mystery movies" that he's in talks to make, which (if greenlit) he'll start on after the second season of Peacemaker.
    • All parties are trying to finally make a proper follow-up to Man of Steel, with Henry Cavill returning. Christopher McQuarrie is on the shortlist to write the script.
    • Matt Reeves isn't just interested in writing/directing sequels to The Batman himself while overseeing TV series like The Penquin and Arkham Asylum; he's actively meeting with filmmakers to make movies focused on Batman's rogues gallery. Characters the article name drop include Scarecrow, Clayface and Professor Pyg (god bless Grant Morrison).
    • The Abrams/Coates Superman film is still on track for the moment, and would be intended to "exist outside any larger DC movie continuity," a la Joker or The Batman. I'm personally doubtful it gets made, especially if a sequel to Man of Steel is back on the cards.
    • A scriptment for Wonder Woman 3 is "expected imminently."
    • A script for a sequel to The Flash has already been written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who cowrote both Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

A separate Superman film with Calvin Ellis or Val-Zod would be fine, while still giving us MOS 2. NWH proved audiences can handle competing multiverse iterations.

Can we assume he wrote it as a stand-alone that can be enjoyed by viewers who have not seen the first Flash movie?

I mean, they are doing Black Adam and all these Batman rogues so I just assumed it fit in with the villain theme.

I like in that article where outgoing DC head honcho Hamada tried to pivot away from a retuning thespian who was in Man of Steel, but meanwhile there's 3 movies in development that star thespains from Batman V Superman. And The Rock just went over his head!

Also Hamada totally bailing, which was announced after Batgirl was tax refunded.

All of this takes place as Hamada, who did not attend the Adam premiere in New York Oct. 12, packs away the final personal effects from his Burbank studio lot office ahead of his last day some time this week. The executive is not even taking a producing deal with the studio, a move that is traditional amongst execs who are being let go but given a soft landing and a courteous “thank you for your service.” To many, that action speaks volumes about how rough the transition from the AT&T era to Discovery under Zaslav has been, including the controversial cancellation of the Batgirl movie in August.

HBO Max Live-Action Zatanna Movie Scrapped, Looking for New Streaming Home

Ok, so now I'm pissed about that. I had no idea that there was going to be a Zatanna movie; and already HBO Max has tossed it out. Go figure. But it is what it is. I'll trust that the kind people in this forum will let me know how Black Adam and the new Flash movie will be; because Lord knows I'm not sitting on pins and needles for either of their releases.

as a rule of thumb, always check where cbr and other clickbait garbage sites are sourcing from. and for god's sake, don't just look at the article title.

from hollywood reporter, re: abrams/zatanna project

this is also the case for abrams, reeves, and bruce timm's new animated batman series. it does not mean the project is dead, like batgirl - hbo wasn't making the zatanna film/series, jj abrams' studio was.

All I hear about Batgirl is that it's a dead project and that there's no trace left. Yes, I am concerned that that could happen with the Zatanna movie. Oh, but you know as well as I do that they'll jump at the chance to reboot Constantine.

But isn't the difference is that they've actually filmed the Batgirl movie and not the Zatanna movie yet?

correct - i had no idea abrams was even pitching a zatanna film, as i'm also a fan of that character. constantine and zatanna are often featured together because of their power sets, recent dc animated films had them in a relationship before she was killed by darkseid. so maybe we'll get a live action film or series with both on netflix or wherever.

i'd also think that either or both could work well in a black adam or captain marvel (shazam) sequel due to the magical element, so maybe this has something to do with wb/dc wanting to streamline things within an expanded universe and debut them in tentpole films, if that is what the goal is (again). it's hard to keep up with it all.

I'd rather have a Zatanna origin film first; rather than shoe-horning her character into an established character's franchise like the Shazam films or Black Adam.

I remember when the Batman Animated Series included her having a relationship with Bruce once upon a time. I doubt they'd consider introducing her in that aspect, but it just goes to show that she has been featured outside of the traditional "DC Dark" element.

You guys sure that they’re not just talking about JLD? You know, the series featuring Constantine and Zatanna? That Abrams was producing for HBO Max? Eh? Eh?

But that's a multi-character joint film along the lines of the Avengers movies, isn't it? Constantine already had a solo movie over a decade and a half ago, and they're talking about a reboot. Zatanna never had anything like that.

No, it was an HBO Max series. I think the verbiage in the article is just poor.

Zatanna Script Writer Promises a 'Scary and Intense' Movie

Along with leading her own film, rumors indicate Zatanna will be part of the roster of J.J. Abrams' Justice League Dark series on HBO Max. The writer and director's deal with Warner Bros. also reportedly includes series related to the movie, and Costantine and Zatanna shows were rumored. It seems the latter will now be a film, however, but it seems DC is finally joining the film/TV crossover world with Justice League Dark and Zatanna along with the upcoming Peacemaker, show which will spin out of The Suicide Squad.

No. They'd be two separate productions.

Does it seem odd to anyone else that Warner owns the DC characters, licenses out the characters to production houses to make content for their streaming service, then cancel the project, but let that production house shop their content, still owned by Warner, to the rival streamers?

I mean, I get that things get weird between greenlight and release, but that just seems like Warner is kicking themselves twice.

Well, we don't want to pay for you to make a movie with X, as originally agreed. But, if you can get Netflix to pay for it, they can show our property on their service instead.

I mean...Disney has been working on getting all of it's Marvel stuff off of the "rivals" and Warner is saying "good luck out there with our stuff" ?

Either they are hoping any residual cut from it streaming elsewhere is a win, or they think if people like it, they will produce sequels and force people to switch to HBO Max for season 2?

It is the wild wild west. No rules, and no common model to follow.

netflix and disney plus are losing money by the boatload. i think it's been made clear that zaslav does not want that for hbo max, no matter the creative cost.

The problem with that narrative is that basically every executive believes in the “amortizing expenses offset by growth” philosophy, including at WBD, so I’m more inclined to believe the rumblings that Zaslav doesn’t know what the **** he’s doing.
