Some of this could be very montage-y. The movie could take place over Year 2 of Superman's life where they then show a bunch of quick 10 second shots of him battling random monsters, robots, etc, and dealign with baddies.

The opening fight w Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl etc could be the opening battle. Then some main story, setting up Lex's plan. Some montage stuff. Saving people across the globe. More main story. Superman gets hurt. Metropolis goes to hell. Superman fights big baddie (maybe w some help of other heroes).

Oh no, first movie and Justice League bloat already. Not a great sign. But hey, at least the colors aren't washed out and someone isn't growl-asking him if he bleeds.

Gunn literally directed the first episode of Peacemaker s2 in the middle of shooting Superman. Dude can multitask!

Anyway I think people know Krypto as he's had both a movie and a TV series in the last few years. Also Dogpool was a huge hit, people like superhero dogs!

Superman has a long comic history of fighting wacky giant monsters.

I don't mind wacky monsters or dogs wearing capes

but I do think the amount of characters is a bit concerning, I feel like every ten minutes I'm going to be asking myself who is that again?

I'm not particularly worried about character bloat. Plenty of non-superhero movies have multiple characters without feeling bloated; we don't need an origin, backstory, and full narrative for each of the other heroes for them to organically serve as supporting characters. Gunn said that they're there so that Superman himself has a supporting cast, since Clark has his parents and the Daily Planet staff for his, and that the movie isn't interested in 'shared universe' building or setting up other movies/TV series. Based on that, I'm going to assume that the execution is different than the worst case scenario I can imagine until proven otherwise.

It's a shame that the teaser trailer needs that extra-textual disclaimer from Gunn to try to clarify its intent, since on its face it gives the impression of trying to introduce a buttload of supercharacters/villains who can populate a new shared universe.

What was the disclaimer from Gunn? What needs to be clarified? It's a teaser. They always introduce lots of random things with little explanation to express a vibe/mood.

I'm really not sure what's confusing about this.

I'm not confused. But apparently Gunn is worried because he issued a disclaimer per PymParticles's post above mine.

Dog seems dumb, but I thought that about a gun toting raccoon before I saw it

That wasn’t a disclaimer for the teaser? That was just a comment he made while talking with the press about why he handled certain things in the movie the way he did, in response to questions regarding ensemble casts and shared universe building.

But you employed it as a trailer disclaimer. Which might also have been why Gunn said it. Personally I think it's a lie. There are too many character introductions for that to possibly be true.

Can I also ask, is there a difference between being filmed on IMAX cameras and being filmed "for IMAX"? Was this filmed with IMAX cameras?

The previous iteration had Superman throwing Zod into buildings instead of away from them, knocking them down and killing thousands of innocents.

In the previous universe, humans are introduced to Zod first and then Superman reluctantly shows up to help him destroy metropolis. Then he reluctantly kills Zod so that he can reluctantly be a hero.

But hey. They cant all be grown up realistic stories.

I also had no clue about it, as I never have any clue about superhero movie happenings. So it was actually sort of a pleasant surprise.

I made it about four hours into the action scene where Superman and Zod kills countless thousands of people before turning off Man of Steel.
Not only does that sequence paint Superman as an uncaring monster who'll let people die without much thought, it's also just a painfully boring action scene.
I never gave the "Snyderverse" another chance, because why on Earth would I?

This one looks pretty interesting though.
