Now that there is much more out there about the game, how many of the die hard SWCCGers are planning to play Wars TCG?

I found an interesting link about the differences in Wars and SWCCG, considering it is based on the same mechanics. It looks like they fixed a lot of the stuff that were isues before. This has the potential of being one of the best CCGs out there when you take a game that had good mechanics like the SWCCG and make it even better.

Also, the artwork, what I have read, and more, is making this game look even better all the time and it is really starting to stand out as a premier game.

One final note, not to take this off track (getting on to another subject), but to the old timers on this board I will admit I was wrong in one aspect. I still love the SWTCG from WotC-it is very fun to play IMHO. But I will admit I was wrong about how WotC handled it. I thought for sure they learned from past mistakes and would not do what they do to a SW game. I was wrong, they are screwing the game, and I see it dying a horrible death, especially since Vs came out and once Wars does. Only a handful of hard core players will be playing that game after Ep3 unless they turn it around real quick. This is one more thing that make Wars attractive. I like the way Decipher supports their games and promotes them.

I'm in for Wars... It's great in that it really recaptures that SWCCG feel, even if you are playing with Gongens instead of Gungans. =)

Except the Gongens are much cooler than a bunch of frogs. :) Based on Wars radio, it is actually pronounced "Gon-Jinn" (as in Qui-Gon Jinn). I wonderif that was a Freudian?

Oh, I'll probably pick up a few starters and a handful of boosters, just to have another game laying around to play. But this game doesn't interest me as much as Star Wars did. While the game mechanics were great, the main reason why I played SWCCG was because it was Star Wars.

Just curious, Baca, what did WOTC do to disillusion you?

They have just absolutely no support for the game. I am sooo tired after over 2 years plus. They just do not care about it. I still play with my few friends, but organized play is a dream unless you count an annual qualifier. Also, even after these years, we still do not have one concise erratta/rulings document. You have to search through various places on the web including various places on their site (set rulings, articles, card of the week, question of the week, etc) to find stuff. I could go on, but I'll stop.

    Wanted to add....

The thing that caught me up in Wars was a combination of the old mechanics (cleaned up and refined), and the story of the Mumon Rift and the five factions. I am a SF buff and this story appealed to me since it has a level of depth and is not just a lame backstory for a card game. They have 4 or 5 short stories out and even a soundtrack :) of all things, and plans for more stuff besides just the card game (comics, novels?, cartoons?, etc). And it is all not a commercial for the game like Yu-Gi-Oh. It has a depth of its own and is very interesting. Plus the card art is just awesome. The final clincher is the support Decipher is giving this and other games. Also a large group in my area is already planning on playing.

I wrote in an email to the Wars Radio and it was chosen as the email of the week. I wrote in it that "I played the old SWCCG for many years" and then also stated (not mentioning or slamming any specific game) that I had not found a TCG since SWCCG that had the same level of player support as SWCCG (meaning company support as well as just the number of locals actually playing it at the card shop).

When he mentioned my email on the Wars Radio, he said it was too long to read on the show (it was, I tend to ramble as you can see above :) ) but that he'd post it on the boards at Decipher. Then he paraphrased part of it that stated I have been playing SWCCG for many years-which I did, but not since the license thing so it makes it kinda sound as if I still am. He also stated since SWCCG I "never really found a game since then that caught (my) interest", when I really wrote about the suport aspect as mentioned above.

I genuinely feel he was not purposly embellishing, I think it was just probably the perception the email gave. To a degree, since support from a company and having an actual player base is important, it could be construed that way and it is in fact what is drving me to look for greener pastures to the point I found WARS.

I just wanted to clarify here and in a few places where people know me as a big fan of other TCGs that I was not lying or anything just to get email of the week. Everything I worte in the email is 100% true, it was jsut paraphrased a bit "off" on WARS Radio.

Has anyone seen this in a store yet? The website says it's out now, but I've yet to see it.

And was The Mumon Rift retitled Incursion? or is Incursion the first expansion?

    Greetings, blokes.

Wars:Incursion has been out at stores for a while now, actually. If you want to find one nearby that sells it, check out Decipher's website.

Also, "Incursion" is the name of the first set. Unless I'm mistaken, "Mumon Rift" is the subtitle for the entire game, although for whatever reason they stopped using it entirely, it seems.

But, yeah... great game. :) Here's to hoping you can get a group started in your area.

    Thinks Wars is fun,
    Yours Truly

Thanks for the link- I'll definitely look into that.

Still, it seems Decipher is doing a really poor job at getting this game out there- I still haven't found a comic or game shop that has heard of it, let alone carries it- and there are some pretty big comic shops in NYC and around where i was in NJ.

Now, going by that link, it seems there are some places, but it doesn't make sense that places like Midtown Comics don't carry it.
