Was Anakin's arm growing back?

In AOTC when Dooku cuts Anakin's arm off the balde slices above the elbow meaniing the majority of the arm was cut from A's body.

In ROTS, when he has had a nightmare the robotic arm starts below the elbow.

Was his arm growing back

 

I don't think his arm was growing back since he's human, not a lizard. It's possible though, that he was having fake skin graphed onto his robotic arm to make him look more human.

 

In reality it was probably just a visual inconsistancy, however in universe maybe he decided there was an advanatage to concealing the joint in synth-flesh such as to prevent things like dust from getting in and obstructing the movment.

Yup. His arm was growing back. Heard it from George himself. He also told be that he intended Anakin to go Super Saiyan in ROTS and that Zero from the MMX series was supposed to fall from the sky and break up the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan; it just never made it beyond the storyboards. Since it came from Lucas' mouth there's no doubt that it's not false seeing as how he is the ultimate authority on everything in my life.



Speaking seriously, Anakin was human. Not a salamander. Not an octopus. Not even a starfish. Human. Last time I heard amputees didn't regrow their limbs two to three months after they lost it. It's obviously a small error made during production, and nothing more.

 

My guess would be that he had some extra synthetic flesh applied to his arm.

 

Probably kinda like Luke's.

1. Last time I checked, Humans can't move things by waving their hands and people don't tend to survive incredible amount of injuries just because they hate someone. No sound in space around here too, no fire either and come to tihnk of it, if I stepped out onto an Asteroid wearing nothing but a gas mask, my head would grow bigger and bigger until it popped.

2. AOTC + 3 years= ROTS


The point is, GFFA is very different. I think it's stupid to suggest that Anakin's arm is growing back, but so far I can see no other explanation, apart form the Dust thing, but why not just cover the whole arm with fake flesh, maybe they have it in a can like on I, Robot.

I think Anakin had a skin transplant to cover up the elbow joint only so he wouldn't clamp anything in between when moving his arm. Also, the bare robotic hand probably allowed Anakin to hotwire ships more easily/ do mechanic's work.

 

Most likey a simple continuity error but the "official" explanation is that he had synth-flesh grafted onto his elbow.

 

Actually, I don't think there is an official explaination. It's just that ILM made a mistake and that's all. Besides, if limbs could grow back, Vader wouldn't need his bionics in the OT. Since twenty some years have passed. And Lucas would've said something about that.

 

I think you are correct that there is no official explanation. I was referring more to if it ever came up in EU than it would be explained as something similar to a skin graft. Although EU isn?t ?official.?

 

Well it's official in that it's licensed just not on the same level of the films canon wise.
