And if he was, what was he going to do about it?

A species of creatures that would be able to block off the power of Force users not having been wiped out? Unlikely he'd have known about them. At the very least given what we've been shown of Palpatine he tends to collect everything that could be useful at some storage area. And he wouldn't leave something that could have such an effect on him just lying around irrespective of whether he thought all of the Jedi were dead or not.

Yes. Palpatine was aware of Ysalamiri. Admiral Zaarin tried using them against Palpatine in an assassination attempt.
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ysalamir

The Jedi were also previously aware, as they named one of their lightsaber forms, Makashi, after the thing. Count Dooku was a Master of the form, and certainly would have known the origins of the name meaning "the Way of the ysalamiri", and would have been familiar with the creature. After becoming Sith, it makes sense that he would have shared the info with Palpatine, if he didn't know about them already.

Given the previous knowledge of Ysalamiri by the Jedi, and thus Count Dooku, and the fact that Zaarin knew about it would clearly indicate that Palpatine probably knew about them as well. If Zaarin knew, surely Palpatine did.

I remember this pretty good fan fiction piece where this disillusioned Imperial general takes Palpatine prisoner with the use of ysalamiri and is nearly able to kill him.

I'm kinda curious why Seperatist armies didn't carry around a bunch of ysalamir, since then it would weaken the Jedi greatly, and make it a lot easier to take them prisoner. Cortosis ore, alloy, or whatever and phrik seemed somewhat common. Then again, with the Sith managing everything, they probably didn't want Force-neutralizing creatures to become too widespread in case anyone tried using ysalamiri against them when they took over.

Though Palpatine probably knew about it. If Thrawn did, Palpatine did, and not much got past Palpatine, unfortunately. Palpatine probably would've used it more, but it was probably too much of a double-edged sword for him. Though too bad they can't just attach a ysalamiri to Caedus and then throw him in prison. Wonder if they have Raynar next to a ysalamiri.

Isn't part of the issue that they are so hard to transport without killing them? It's one thing to know about their existance, and even where to find them, but actually getting them out of there and making them useful is something else entirely...

Right. The top commander for the Separatists was Darth Sidious. The top commander for the Republic was Chancellor Palpatine. Nobody's going to advocate the widespread use of ysalrmiri.

even if they did use them, the Jedi traveled frequently with Clones...just because the ysalamiri can create a force bubble doesn't stop a Jedi or a Clone from simply shooting one with a blaster...It would be a slight advantage for a brief second at best...hardly worth the expense for what they were trying to do. Then, there is the obvious...ysalamiri would prevent Palpatine from using the Force in a bubble as well, and he isn't going to run out and do something that robs him of the bulk of his power.

I would think they'd have a ysalamiri serum, injectable and handy in the sleeve. Like a vaccine. They're calling it a cure.

That seems to be fan fiction. I don't believe that is stated in the source cited in the article. (The TIE Fighter game.)

I believe that the Jedi Council was aware, that there was something wrong on Myrkr.
Talon Karrde speaks of Myrkr as a headquarter for smugglers, criminals, because Jedi didn't seem to attack/pursue them there.

But I don't believe that it was widespread knowledge, that these little fuzzy lizards could push away the force.
OK so a Lightsaberform was named "Way of the Ysalamiri", but how many things have a name and we have no clue where it comes from and what it means. So the name alone doesn't prove that knowledge about Ysalamiri was known even throughout the Jedi Order.
(Personally I think it is a stupid and ridicolous idea to name a form of fencing "Way of the Ysalamiri" or "Way of the Vornskrs". These are two not well known animals from a backwaterplanet, where no Jedi would set his foot voluntarily. It is like the fact, that every **** character in the whole EU needs to visit Tatooine "long long run from the galactic centre". Just stupid and unimaginative writing.)

If you are going to be a bona fide Master at a lightsaber form, and Count Dooku was a Master at Makashi, you better know the meaning behind that form's name. It would be part of your understanding of the form, part of the knowledge a Master would definitely be expected to know. Where would Dooku have learned the form though? From other Jedi within the Order. IE, Makashi's meaning would be at the very least known to the lightsaber instructors, and probably by everyone who studied the form. That would make it fairly common knowledge within the Order. If they named the form after ysalamiri, it would make sense that whichever Jedi named the form would be aware of the creature he is naming it after. That is just common sense. Mace Windu specifically named his form Vaapad, because he was familiar with the creature, its attack style, etc. You name a lightsaber form after something specific for a reason. They named the form Makashi, being the way of the ysalamiri, for a very specific reason, to suggest that they were ignorant of the unique properties of ysalamiri is just illogical.

Why wouldn't Jedi visit Myrkr? It seems to me that a confident Jedi might want to test his skills in the forests, being hunted by vornskyrs, without the benefit of the Force, thanks to the ysalamiri bubbles...

As for the TIE Fighter/Zaarin/ysalamiri connection, it makes sense. In the game, Zaarin's abduction of Palpatine is presented as a 100% legit kidnapping. The ONLY way this would be possible is with ysalamiri. It is never hinted that it was a secret plot of Palpatine's, (like in ROTS) so he allowed himself to be captured, the storyline in TIE Fighter is presented as if Palpatine had no choice in the matter, which is why you and Darth Vader have to go rescue him. Without ysalamiri around, Palpatine would not need rescuing, would he? With the Force, Palpatine is more than capable of singlehandedly overtaking his kidnappers, and make them pay for their treachery. It is decidedly inconvenient that the reference was removed from the Wikia entry on March 25, it was there previously, as anyone can check in the history of the page...

Further, the game was developed AFTER the introduction of the ysalamiri and Grand Admiral Thrawn by Timothy Zahn. The creators of the game would know about the ysalamiri already, as they would have to be familiar with Heir to the Empire in order to include Thrawn. Tyber Zaan, the leader of the criminal faction in Empire at War:Forces of Corruption also has knowledge of ysalamiri, as he constructed ysalamiri cages...the game's timeline puts the events between ANH and ROTJ, which coincides with TIE Fighter, which further adds to the evidence Palpatine surely would know about ysalamiri. If Tyber Zaan, a mere criminal knows what ysalamiri can do, why wouldn't the Emperor, who has legions of spies spread throughout the galaxy have come across the info?

Davi, I'm not saying it doesn't make sense. But it was never actually stated in a published source. Conjecture is not canon and should not be stated as fact. And while reasonable, it's not the only conclusion that could be drawn from the situation. Perhaps Palpatine only went along with the kidnapping in order to test the loyalty of his followers (Steele and Thrawn), as he did the last time he was "kidnapped" by a separatist leader and his cyborg lackey. Maybe he was in some kind of trance, like Vader was in Scoundrel's Luck. Perhaps Arden Lyn used some as-yet-unknown Force-nullifying artifact like a Taozin skin bonnet or something. We just don't know.

They don't have to. Separate the red blood cells from the plasma and use the plasma as a "vaccine". Can't these scientists think of anything creative?

The ysalamiri effect Force ability by innately creating around themselves a "bubble" in the Force that jams Force sensitivity. I fail to see how injecting a Jedi with ysalamiri blood would help, is all.

I'm not against some countermeasure for the ysalamiri - okay, I am a little - but I just don't think a serum's going to work.

Unless, of course, we injected the ysalamir, with it...
