Was Talon Karrde ever in love with Mara Jade?

I can't remember if he was or not.

I have read the Thrawn Trilogy and all the other books with both in them but I don't own a copy of any book before the NJO, to have a quick look up. Any help would be great, since this has been bugging me all day.

 

well, officially, no...

i don't recall them ever being more than business partners...and i own lots of starwars books...although i suppose it could be in the comics...

as far as i know tho, he was just very impressed with her skills and talents and attitude, etc. and so she became a prominent person in his organisation...

of course, u never know what Karrde was REALLY thinking...

 

I am glad you asked this because I was just wondering the same thing. In Union he seems really happy for Mara and seems to be the only guy who comes back to see her before the public ceremony. He seems to really care about her in Jedi Eclipse, but seems equally fond of Luke. Don't sense any bitterness there.

 

I thought that he always had an interest in her, but never tried to do anything about it or something. Like it was implied he had a thing for her but he never really said or anything like that.

 

I am sure Talon was attracted to Mara. Why wouldn't he be...she has all the qualities he would like.

Zahn was nice enough to replace her with Shada just so Talon would have someone after Mara left the picture to be with Luke.

Nope. They had a working relationship, throughout which it appears she stayed distant but efficient. There was probably some affection, but no love.

 

ew! i nthe thought that these two were ever an item never even crossed my mind. i think Karrde was just her boss. come to think of it, i think all their conversations in the thrawn thrilogy were all about work. they hardly spoke of about their personal lives.

I like Karrde as an asexual smuggler mastermind, we already have a hornball scoundrel.

 

I Jedi Master Mazzara actually have recalled something from memory (a great feat I assure you) I believe it was in Heir to the Empire, Talon respected Mara, and he felt of her more as a buisness partner and second in command. However, it does mention he was slightly attracted to her, not in so many words but from the way that Zahn had him thinking in one part of the book, you could gather that much. Though it stopped at slight attraction. I doubt he has anything with Shada other than something akin to the emotional attachment of a brother to a sister. (Ditto with Jade)

 

He didn't have any romantic relationship with Mara. He's got a soft spot for Shada, though.

 

I always figured he never had a relationship with Mara. I mean, she may have looked good and everyhitng, but from what i git she was very secretive about her past and hid form everyone at the time. Even if Karrde was a little attracted to her, he didn't know her that well. He was a causeious guy so i don't think he'd pursue it.

I agree with Calli. I had always thought of him more as a father figure to her. Anyone Know the Age difference off the top of your head?

 

Well not really but I can logic it out. Mara is roughly Luke's age give or take a year. Karrde is portrayed as a older Han Solo and han is about a decade older than Luke give or take 2 years. So Karrde is probably at least 15 or so years older than Mara.

 

That sounds about right. He's roughly 15 to 20 years older. Thats what I always thought anyway.

So a father figure is a good way to look at his feeling towards her.

 

I think father figure is an appropriate description. And he does love Shada, so there!
