Was the World Between World's in Star Wars partly inspired by Indy IV?

Yesterday rewatched Crystal Skull and was amazed by Oxley's comment about a world between worlds at the end. Had totally forgotten about that, after all these years. Maybe Filoni was at least partly inspired by this dialogue.

Maybe, but, the concept of mystical portals between worlds and times has been around a lot longer than that.

Yup. One of the trope codifiers was The Wood Between The Worlds in the Narnia book The Magician's Nephew, published in 1955.

Alice's rabbit hole and looking glass to Wonderland are even older. Going back to mythology, Greek and Roman heroes sometimes found portals to the underworld/Hades.

And in terms of more modern antecedents, there are things like Michael Moorcock's multiverse and the multiple Earths of Silver Age DC Comics.

True, but "a place that has only portals and nothing else of importance" is kind of a newer thing.
